Topping off at CP!

You'll see an american flag on top when it reaches the very top. BTW, Knotts' tophat was seriously built in 3 days once the 2 big Impulse like towers were built. The overbanks were done in about a week and a half. Thats how fast it is when the footers are all poured and set before vertical construction.

Hmm, do all the tallest rides in the park have lightning rods?

Impressive, they've the first 200, 300 & 400ft coasters ever built!

Why does everyone always forget Gemini? It's the true record breaker, debuting as the world's tallest, fastest, and steepest coaster, not to mention the first to break the 100ft height. :)

People tend to dismiss Gemini as a true record breaker the same way they tend to dismiss Magnum as the first over 200 feet.

There were shuttle loops built prior to Gemini that were technically taller. The same argument is made against Magnum with Moonsault Scramble which was built in 1983 and stands at 207 feet.

The argument for the CP records is that those are shuttle coasters and not every rider reaches that height.

It's an argument that will never end...

Go take a look at the tower today on the webcame (10th). The outter posts are definitely coming to combine with the middle. No doubt now (although I'm sure someone will argue :) ) that the tower is reaching it's full height.

Looks so good, doubt I will ride for a few years yet :(

The instrument used to measure wind speed is called an "anemometer."

There is going to be a mini spaghetti bowl ontop of the tower so when you are up there in the revolving restruant you can watch the trains circle by before shooting back down.

Good lord why does everyone always post that same picture of the track I have seen it like a 100000000 times already from now on it should be called "that one picture". Back on topic its safe to assume the tower is done but does anyone know how tall it is now?

It's not the same picture. It's called a webcam. That picture is updated every minute straight from the park.

Right now it looks as if the tower itself is really being topped off.

If that's what it is, maybe it was because they thought they would run out of light or something. Who knows, could be a thousand different reasons.

it is obvious why they removed it the whole point of the ride was to build a big tower strap inta track to it and total freak people out about what it is. Then they would reveal the REAL #16 whitch is an underground wild mouse that goes around an underground resturant.
