This is usually when they put the cranes down for the night
That's always fun to watch.

I noticed in the first webcame on the page (the camera almost on the ground), there are lights on the left. Are these just like lamps for the park, or are they for night work? Because if so, I haven't seen any night work yet.
They did night work yesterday evening...first time I saw lights on the site. They came on about 4:30 CST.
It is inevitable in something this big that there will be discrepencies in the size of pieces.
The Gateway Arch is a prime example as when the towers met a 4 foot section had to go in a 2 foot hole.

I was told sometime during this past operating season by a CP supervisor that the pictures we see from the CP web cams are NOT current even though the web cam times are usually current.
That may explains why some pictures showed a complete tower then an incomplete tower. (using those terms loosely, of course).
They are current. It gets dark right when it supposed to etc etc.
Besides the times it's archived, it's current.

Well, its been showing this image (and this time- 17:16:43) ever since 3:15 my time (CA)... go figure... and the webcam pic doesn't look as dark as it should for 9:39 at night CP time... so I don't really think it's updating any- maybe it froze. I don't really know. But, I do think that is the top of the support tower, and that the track will connect to the top of the middle support. If you look at where the two supports connect (and soon, a third), you can see the large (I don't remember what they call them) pressure pad, which is where the supports will connect to the track. The Intamin pressure pad thing-ies were first used on CA Screamin, and then on Xcel on the overbanks. They connect the top of the support to the track, so the track should (theoretically) connect right on top of the middle support, where I believe there is one of those pressure pad things. I'll try to find a link of a pic of a "pressure pad" for you guys...

Look at the connection to the overbank from the support (the wierd looking "e" 1- you can also see the normal Intamin track-to-support connecter, which is the circle-ly one attatched to the drop) Those are the pressure pads I was talking about- they have large square versions of those one the first overbank of Xcel, and they look VERY similar to the thing on top of the highest support of "Dragster". So, I think that the top-most piece of "Dragster" track will be connected to the top of the middle support "pressure pad thing" and that the track won't go unsuported.
EDIT- another example of "pressure pad thing-ies"- http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery731.htm?Picture=3 Look at the sides of the loop where they connect with the supports- the same pads that are on Xcel, and should be on the top of "Dragster." I guess Intamin uses these to help support the track better- Intamin really, really knows how to support coasters (box track & pressure pads...)- they could build a coaster with a very good portion of the track unsupported easily IMHO.

You are very, very wrong. I worked there the whole summer and all I can say is Wicked Twister was down 50% of the time. At night they had people from across seas welding it. For there were cracks all over the track that was unsupported.
50%, not. Yes there were problems in the diagonal ties, and these were replaced nightly until they were all replaced along the unsupported portions. The process took a couple of weeks and the ride ran normally the majority of the summer.
You can see the replaced ties, which are larger and square, compared to those found in other portions.

DELETED!
I think Cedar Point should turn the tower into office space. Sure it'd be a little noisy, but the ride would look so much cooler!
Ok...not much of an original idea (i.e., LoQua)...but I must say that this thing is very exciting...and I live a couple thousand miles away.

Why does everyone always forget Gemini? It's the true record breaker, debuting as the world's tallest, fastest, and steepest coaster, not to mention the first to break the 100ft height.
I thought the first coaster to break 100 ft. was the one at Tivoli built in 1914. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I was told when I went there five years ago.
