Only 10 more days until we all get to ride. Anyone else going to be there on the 17th? I'll be taking photos.

I'll be stopping by that weekend as long as the weather cooperates. Right now the long-range forecast is rain that weekend.

If that's the case, I'll wait until later in the summer.

I won't make it until the weekend of the 31st, I will be on a cruise ship opening weekend. :)

I can't wait to ride it though.

Sweet. Hope it hauls from beginning to end with no dead spots!

If the train wasn't stopped on the lift hill I would have missed it or had to tape at a more less than ideal angle.Really wanted to get a shot from the bottom of the hill. None of the local media had footage so I guess I got the scoop on that one!

Huh? Do you have footage of it testing?

I have a bad feeling that its going to slow down a lot after it comes back up the hill and into the park again. Shall wait and see though! *** Edited 5/8/2008 1:40:11 PM UTC by eightdotthree***

Oh, here it is. Searched YouTube and saw your name. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjlV_un_46E

How did it look in person, I swear these videos always make rides looks so slow.

The clip appears on my flikr page as well and at a better resolution. I could not see the park level speed from my vantage point.

Here's some footage from the local news that give a little closer look and better sense of the speed up close.

Only running the blue train for testing. Hope they run both on the 17th!

Wow, the airtime over the bridge is going to be legendary. I hope I am not getting my hopes up too high.

^^ I am sure they will be testing the red soon then maybe both at the same time.
I could only think to myself one thing when I saw the Ravine Flyer II testing. "I can't believe it." It seems as if it was only yesterday when the intense court battle seemed to have no end.

I wonder how the neighbors are "coping" with the noise so far. ;)

I may be there next Saturday. This thing finally opening deserves a special trip.

Ha ha, somehow I don't think those tunnels are really going to do much to quiet the ride down.

Went down to the park to get a closeup look and scout out the best filming location. The best bet is the fence between sea dragon and giant wheel.

If anyone shows up before the first train rolls out thats where you'll find me.

From the park you don't see much more than the lifthill and station thanks to the placement behind Wipeout, skyride and sea dragon. I was surprised to find the que line is below grade behind the station.

I was also at the park today to check out the new coaster from inside the park, along with taking photos of the new ride and the rest of the rides.

The maintenance men said they had hoped to get the ride up and running this afternoon, however when I followed up and asked Paul Nelson when he was walking around, he said that the ride was down, and men were working on the braking lines.

Got a lot of good shots, and will have them posted soon... come to think about it, rsscbell, I think I saw you... did you ask the maintenance men about whether they'd be running trains through? If so, I have photos with you in them on the Comet, haha.

I can't wait until next Saturday. It was such a tease to have this awesome looking ride right infront of me, and me not be able to ride it. Soon enough! The ride will also be 3 tickets (same as the Steel Dragon, Comet, and the Ferris Wheel). This is where the $4.50 price per ride comes in, as 1 ride ticket costs $1.50.

I was there only ten minutes right at noon. Came in the rainbow entrance and did not go up the midway near the comet. Did you notice the park map? Thats what the Flyer would look loke if Togo built it!

Still calling for rain all of next weekend...looks like I probably won't be making the drive for now unless things change during the week (and they could).

Ah come on, Gonch. I'm going to be there! ;)
