Valleyfair getting a new coaster or not???

Count me as one of those that feels LR is underrated. It doesn't offer the extreme laterals and airtime that many seem to crave but I think it's flat-out fun. Add to that the fact you never know which train will win (no side is necessarily faster than the other) and you have something special beyond words.

I hope so, 'cause I fear those trains will take the bite out of the cat. But they should certainly help keeping the track from tearing up, so it's give and take I guess.

Edit: I feel the same way about LR, Rob. It's just plain fun. The dueling/racing trains really add to the ride and both trains are almost always together and when they split off it's only briefly unlike other "similar" rides. It makes for great visuals. Take that apsect away and you still have an above average coaster. *** Edited 9/12/2006 1:12:50 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

So, Lightning Racer is better than PKI's Racer? Rebel Yell? Thunder Road? American Eagle? Rolling Thunder? Colossus (well, back when it WAS a wooden coaster, LOL)?

Yes, LR is better than all of them. Only KW's Racer even manages to make it a fight. And yes, I have had "the good rides" on Thunder Road, and just this year AE was running better than I've ever experienced. But racing coasters are about the racing, the interactivity, AND not least of all, the RIDE. Lightning Racer manages to accomplish all three like nothing else has in my experience.

Which, again, is why I've decided to begin the campaign EARLY for..."Booardwalk Project '08"... :)

Just for the record, I do like Hershey's Wildcat over LR. However LR is my second favorite woodie with no air behind Beast. Also, I believe the ride portion of VF's PT is 10 feet higher than CP's.
I second that. HP's Wildcat gives me a good, intense, out-of-control ride, while Lightning Racer places more emphasis on the dueling/racing aspect. That said, both are solid rides in my oppinion, as is Thunderhead. But hey, let's not turn this into a vs. thread. If Valleyfair gets anything from this company, they should consider themselves lucky.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again, if you wanna talk about woodies or hypers, PLEASE talk about it on a different board. Someone said to me that the announcement will be coming "VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY SOON!"
So...

I thought Hershey's Wildcat was one of the worst coasters I have ever been. I did like LR though.

No the POLICE were big in the late 70's and 80's though they did have a few hits in the early 90's. ;)

Oh I thought those later hits were when one of the "cops" went "P.I." ;)

Chuck, I'm kinda shocked you don't like Wildcat. It can be a rough ride, sure, but it earns its roughness in intensity.

Last I heard we are down to 4 "very"s. ;)

So it is no longer VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY SOON!

It is only VERY VERY VERY VERY SOON!

I'll keep you updated. :) LOL!

Guess they want to make sure and give the news cycle to Cedar Point for a while. 'Cause we all know VF's announcement is going to be better. ;)

How's Valleyfair's hyper? Does it have more air than their woodie?
It depends on how VERY VERY close you consider thursday. It all depends on opinion. Like VF Newcoaster thinks its VERY X5, I on the other hand would only go with 2 VERY'S.

But,I went to Valleyfair! over the weekend because I got my permit and wanted to drive. They have a construction fence up and a lot of new markings.

hello
Wild Thing has air on the second hill and cresting the third into the turn around if you sit in the first car. I go back and forth between the 2nd and 3rd seats for the best. That is better than any air I got on HR.

I don't know when an announcement is but Thursday would not surprise me.

^ What RavenTTD said re: HR and WT. That being said, getting any serious air on a Morgan hyper, in my experience, would involve an Act of God. Getting air on that woodie should be as easy as releasing/reducing the trims.

To be fair, if any park with a Morgan would at least let the sucker RUN through the ending sequence of bunny-hops...they'd get my enduring praise...any takers? ;)

The GCII, as I see it, will likely get "mixed" reviews by enthusiasts. The airtime on their rides is *lateral-filled*, as hills are normally crested during a change of direction. To alot of people, that means it isn't "true airtime". Of course, that's about as debatable as "What IS a coaster?" ;)

*Twister* coasters... :)

Okay, I have not been on HR trimless so I cannot speak for it, but I did get a trimless ride on Wild Thing at night 3 Coaster Crazes ago. Please believe me when I say it was an act of God. First of all, I highly doubt VF opened all those trims. God did it. Second, while WT does not come close to my top ten steel, that was the best steel coaster ride I have ever had. It was amazing. I don't consider it though when I rate the coaster because I don't expect it to ever happen again.
