Michigan's Adventure Future Plans

Ask the folks at Holiday World how "commonplace" it is. And where do you think Camille grew up?

So is MA getting anything for 2004?

I know that Camille grew up there with her brother and sister. If you ask Camille though or any of the kids, they will tell you that they mostly worked, played very little and grew up in a hurry. It used to be a family park. I know that. I just didn't think Cedar Fair projected a real family image. They are very corporate in my opinion. However, I am glad that she can have her children around. And HW is another family park. So I am sure commonplace there also.

They really, really need a new attraction for next year. Its a nice little park, but its not worth the 3 hour plus drive for me to make if I can just go to cedarpoint that is only 21 1/2 hours away. The only reason I went there this year was because I have a season pass for cp, so it dident cost me anything to enter the park.

I cant wait to see what this park is going to grow into..........I just wish they would step on the gas a little.

Scrambler is torn down. Fixing or removing? anyway......Maybe a new flat?

I should have mentioned in my trip report that later in the day when we went back to the Mad Mouse, Scramble was being put back together again. It was probably dismantled for maintenance.

It was obvious from my trip on Friday that the water park is their biggest draw. The rides portion of the park was practically empty by 1 pm, but there were people lining up for the slides in the waterpark.

I knew that the water park is the big draw, being that why not add a rapids ride over by Adventure Falls and have it run over to the train ride and back. You could place the entrance for it by the water park and complete the circuit of the park. (Complete route around the park)

WARNING:
You are no longer who you were and tomorrow is now yesterday. In the event of an emergency, do not become alarmed. Move Quickly to the nearest exit.

I heard on another site that there looks like a path being constructed behind the wolverine wildcat. Is that true?

Cedar Point's Mean Streak and World's Of Fun's Dentonator both share the same logo......That's cheap!!!!

Earlier in the season (June), they were clearing the piles of concrete littering that area, but it may have been for pure aesthetics or long-term planning. Maybe I'll have to head up Friday to have another look.

It looks more like a gravel road now, but doesn't look like it's even close to being a permanent midway/path. The entire area to the right of WW is still a field of weeds, broken concrete, etc. I don't see them opening that path until they have something to put there.

I think that a setpoint coaster would be an excellent "bridge" between the water and the ride portions of the park.
You know, MiA isn't having that bad of a season per the last CF conference call. They're only down 2%--not bad for a park that's more waterpark than park.

-'Playa

The CPlaya 100--6 days, 9 parks, 47 coasters, 2037 miles and a winner.....LoCoSuMo.

Maybe adding to the waterpark is the way to go. Especially when , SFGAM doesn't have one. Not that SFGAM is even in competion with MA.

The "FAB 5" needs to give Mean Streak a "makeover"

But they are down after a year in which they reportedly did not make their numbers, which should have made it easier to post a year-over-year gain. Might be the weather to blame, of course, but only time will tell.

That gravel road has been behind the WW since the ride was built. It is used as an access road for maintenence workers and emergency vehicles. It does not signal anything new there. Now a raft ride by Adv Falls. That sounds more realistic.

I thought that road had been there, but since I only visit a couple times of year, I never really paid much attention until my visit last Friday.

I would think a raft ride would be pretty expensive.

My brother-in-law works for Stone Mountain Productions, the company that designs and runs the laser light shows for Cedar Fair parks. He told me that SMP has signed a contract to do (I'm assuming a version of Snoopy's Summer Spectacular) a show at Michigan's Adventure next summer, and that the contract at Worlds of Fun ends this season.
That would work great at MiAdv! There are very little lights!

MrScott

Eh... they don't have most of the park wired for night lighting right now. I'm not very familiar with laser shows; I assume they require the park to be open until it becomes completely dark? Would this indicate that they will be adding more lighting and possibly staying open later? Or could it be done with minimal lighting?
Press Release 8/12/03 Cedar Fair has just annouced the latest improvement for Cedar Fair's newest amusement park. Michigan Adventure has updated their park map on their web site. Dick Kinzel has said " We are really proud of the new and improved park map" he continued " We at Cedar Fair felt that the old map wasn't reflective of Cedar Fair standards and needed to change immediately" He adds "Now the park map has the look and feel of our flagship park Cedar Point." Michigan Adventure which was purchased by Cedar Fair in mid 2001 season has seen many improvements since the acquisition. "This by far has been the most exciting improvement to date" Janet winsblahblah head of public relations has stated. "And if you think this is news....Just wait until you see our 2004 brochure" she beemed. The commitement to make Michigan's Adventure look like a Cedar Fair property on paper has been a major focus. The park map has gone thru three generations of updates and has now been deemed worthy.

All kidding aside the new map looks great.
