Michigan's Adventure Future Plans

I just saw on the news that CF has settled the first (33 were on ride) lawsuit out of court from the Chaos collapse 2 years ago. They refunded her admission 2000 times. $40,000. What a crock! They had not even owned the park long enough to review maintenace logs, IMO. Bet her lawyers sucked up most of that.

The Kalamazoo-area girl, 14 at the time of the accident, suffered cuts to her knees from broken Plexiglas. Those cuts caused permanent scars, according to a July 15 order signed by 14th Circuit Judge James M. Graves Jr. and agreed to by both parties.

Oh give me a break.

Any disfiguring to a woman's legs and especially a teen agers is devastating. I went on a canoe trip with a girl who got tipped over. She scrapped and bruised her legs. She was absolutely inraged with anger and had to wear pants for the majority of the summer. Was is worth $40 G's. I don't know. Just the trama of Chaos collapsing has to be worth at least $10,000 LOL.

Coaster Bob,

As an MSU alumni I have to laugh whenever I here the crew of "Queer Eye..." refered to as the Fab 5. I wonder what Chris Webber thinks of it.

Has any CF park besides Camp snoopy made an annoucement?

I talked to someone in management 2 weeks ago about expansion. He told me that he thought the campgrounds was originally planned for across the street but the idea has not moved forward. I asked him about the sewer and water issue and he told me that he thought it was resolved. When I asked him why all of the maintenance people were working so diligently on excavating the mounds of soil behind WW he told me "I don't see anything. There is an imaginary wall here."

I wouldn't read too much into changes in the map. I mentioned the path to him and he told me "do you think it would be good idea?" I told him it would be nice to connect the park that way, but we are lacking an attraction between the 2 areas." He chuckled.

Not to be a know it all, but I am not. I just asked and this is the response.

My gears are really going though.....

Good God! They need to add SOMETHING! Attendance will remain the same until they do. They MUST know that.

They (CF) have been getting ready for 2 years now. Hopefully, our next attraction is not the Chaos Incident payouts.

That would suck.

So with Kara going off to MSU, who is close enough to MiA to make the bi-weekly trips to MiA during the offseason to keep us updated?

I'm an hour away, CPLady, but if they start building something interesting...I'll probably do a few drive-bys. It won't be bi-weekly, though. I have family in the Muskegon area, so I do get up that way at least once a month.

Have you heard from Kara? It'll be interesting to see if she liked working at The Point towards the end of her stay as much as she did at the beginning.

I live in Norton Shores...basically part of Muskegon. I'm sure I can drive by now and then. Probably nothing regimented. Like Scott, if they start building something I'd be more inclined to go by.
Well, I'm back (hey, I started this thread didn't I) after a LONG needed vacation.

I have a few things to say:

1. About the laser show for next year, we need LIGHTS before we can stay open late enough for a laser show. Besides, I still highly doubt this when CF was considering removing all of them.

2. Attendance is up folks, meaning hopefuly we'll get something nice for 2004.

3. A coaster is NOT what you want! More flats are what you want, then a coaster when the timing is right.

4. I will be doing some drive-bys with pics in the off-season this year. Videos too, if my PC prevails.

5. 2004 brochure is supposed to be good, huh? Well, we'll just see about that. The people over in Marketing won't mind if I stop by sometime in December/January...

6. The lawsuit over Chaos is a bunch of bull. I'm sorry, but it is. That's just a "I want money, I was stuck. GIVE ME MONEY!" sort of thing. Stupid, yes.

7. Scrambler is ok. Just took a ride myself the other day. They just had it apart for some maintenance.

8. I wouldn't be surprised if Thunderbolt goes. They could remove that and relocate the pizza place for a nice area for an impulse coaster. Nah, rather have the flats myself.

There's my comments for now. I'll re-visit later.

101 Laps - A Timbers Wannabe

Kara is having a great time at the Point last time I talked to her. She really enjoys Corkscrew.

If given the choice I'd choose a hamburger over a hotdog anyday of the week.

Your comments about MiA have certainly changed over the course of this thread MiAJon. When you first posted, you said to expect a new Steel Coaster for 2004, and now you're saying "hopefully" we'll get something nice for 2004. What's more, now you sound like you don't want a steel, when before you sounded excited about it. What's going on?

Also, for all those people who think MiA needs to continue to take it slow, and not do anything big like get a new coaster, I think you're out of touch with the GP. I have been planning a major trip out to MiA for my birthday, and was trying to get a whole myriad of people to come. You wouldn't believe how many times I heard "it's too small", or "there's nothing there", or "they need to get a new coaster in there". And these were not coaster enthusiasts I was talking to. Just people who have become very indifferent about MiA, and it's lack of things to offer. (And yes, there were FAMILIES included in this number of people who aren't interested anymore.)

I don't profess to know what MiA is up to for next year, but I do know what everybody I've talked to would like to see. And it's not "capital improvements", "More flat rides", or "a laser show". Hopefully MiA officials are more in touch with the GP than appearantly some of the people on here are, or MiA will never see an attendance growth. :(

9 pages huh.. sheesh.

And we still have a few shrieking for a new coaster. Actually, a mid-to-small one still wouldn't be bad. Spinning mouse anyone?

When I visit my family again next summer I'm hitting MIA for sure (I miss Timbers.....) Hopefuly their with be somthing new by then, my mom and some of my family was their a few days ago and they said it was fairly busy which I was pretty stoked about this because that means new ride if adtance remains good!!

WARNING:
You are no longer who you were and tomorrow is now yesterday. In the event of an emergency, do not become alarmed. Move Quickly to the nearest exit.

No idea what they WILL do, but what they SHOULD do is forgo any new ride, and instead invest heavily in shade awnings, mature trees, mist machines, lights for at night, oh and proper training for employees - such as moving faster and maybe actually doing their job as opposed to one black hostess at Mad Mouse, who all she could do is complain that a person wasn't back from break yet and just stand inside the air conditioned control house (she wasn't the controller, there was another person doing that) and making one lady load and unload all by herself.

Well, I wouldn't discredit MIA Jon's post too much. I have been to MIA several times this year because it is my home park. I have heard people answering the surveys. Many of them are asking for "more rides". No one that I heard said anything about coasters. I also heard people say that they are interested in "more things to do". That would really indicate shows to me. I personally wish for an environment that had many shops and places to wander around in with the family. Rides don't make a park, attractions do. Maybe some flat rides will make some happy, but I am really hoping that the park is redesigned a little in the off season. Has anyone noticed that the games section is in the worst possible location in the park? Have you noticed that the entire entrance area had been redone last year to include a new awning? The new awning stops at the games. I would hope that they redesign it to make an actual midway out of the games and move them. I also noticed that by the Big Dipper they have not painted any handrails like they did in the rest of the park. Is a replanning of the kiddie rides in progress? Are we going to have every kiddie ride moved into a central location? There is way to much to speculate about right now.

Sorry this post is so long, but I had to throw some ideas out there.
