Michigan's Adventure Future Plans

I don't see how adding a second train to WW and ZZ would help a whole lot. It's not like there's ever a line to ride them.
PointMan,

Are you out of your head?!? Try going on a busy day, say a Saturday in August. The wait for WW can be longer than the wait for ST!

MrScott

From my experience, on ANY day of the week WW has a longer wait even though the line is shorter than ST.
A "slow" day in August yesterday still had a 20 minute wait for Wildcat. I only go during the week to avoid crowds and the lone walkon I've had was in the early season.
No, I'm not out of my head, so please leave the comments about my mental capabilities out of it. As a season passholder, I've been to MiA a number of times. How many Saturdays are there in August? My calendar says five. If you add three more Saturdays in July and that brings the total to eight days a season that two trains need to be ran. I'm still not convinced that adding a second train to WW is a better idea than adding a new attraction.
Oh PointMan, you haven't been there ENOUGH then. I've gone other days throughout the season, and ALL of them a 2nd train needs to be run on Wildcat. Zoomer I said because lines can snake all the way to the Corkscrew entrance...

Guess who's back... MIA JON!

I recently went to Michigans Adventure on a WEDNESDAY and it very busy, lines for Wildcat were all the way to the entrance on the pirate ride, then just across from that the line for loggers run was backed up to the lemonade stand by ST. It was crazy, They need to totally widened that path and move the entrance to loggers run, you could hardly squezze through. What I would like to see in 2004, A Wicked Twister type ride or a drop tower, no huge coaster just something that could bring revenue up, But I was very impressed with the crowds, It kinda sucked waiting 45MINUTES just for a tube to go on the Mine Shaft, MIA needs to widen paths add more restaraunts, restrooms, They should take out the dog pit and put in a drop tower there, that would be awesome. I think it is time to expand out, the footprint now is already overlycrowded.

Yes, indeed. Let us all join hands, stare at our computer screens and concentrate our earthshaking, god-like powers on CF together. They will cough up $10 million for MiA right now cuz we said so.

Shall we scare you up a new credit card next? Anyone for a home equity loan?

MIAJon, does MiA seem to be busier this year than before. Because I've NEVER had to wait for any of the rides other than Timbers and the water slides. The number of consecutive rides I had at the park amazes me.
The park is not busier this year than ever before but they are so much busier than last summer. The summer of 2000 the park was busy frequently and the parking lot overflowed a few times. The summer of 2001 was hurt because Chaos happened at the end of July right before the busiest month of the summer. The summer of 2002 was just plain pathetic. The economy was bad and people were putting Chaos behind them. This summer has finally returned the park to where they were before the sale. It is good to see the park busy again. (well except the days it was too busy).
I remember last year well. Of the many times I went to MiA there was only one day with any crowds and the parking lot was nearly full. Even still, the only wait of any significance was for timbers. There was a small wait for the Mad Mouse but that was it. It was hot so everyone was probably in the water park.
I was there on Monday. For anyone that is familiar with the parking lot, the closest you could park was on the other side of the retaining pond. The lot was full up to the middle of Timbers. Waits for everything were in excess of 45 minutes. While 2nd trains are a great idea, I don't think they will resolve a whole lot right now because of the length of time it takes MIA operators to dispatch. If we add more trains we will run into the Mantis 3 train syndrome.

I give up on this one. I guess I will just wait until an official announcement and then put in my 2 cents.

I always go to MiA in the beginning of the season and it is EMPTY. While I'm not surprised, I'm impressed that MiA can actually fill up to the middle of the Timbers! This gives me hope that maybe they CAN support more roller coasters, footpaths, etc.

"Good luck with all that..."

As an avid (or is that rabid?) supporter of MiAdv and it's potenial, I'll probably visit again today, since I'll be in Muskegon.

I just have to see if last Saturday was a fluke. If it's as packed today as it was then, I'll be outta there after a lap on Timbers (my 45th this year :)

I'll know how busy it will be before even exiting US 31. 31 was backed up for a mile before the exit last weekend.

MrScott (who hasn't learned to STAY AWAY on Saturdays in August!)

No fluke. It was just as busy. Over an hour wait for Timbers.

I got there at noon and had to park about 50 feet from the entrance sign. A VERY long walk in and out!

MrScott

Take it for what you want!! Muskegon Chronicle today talking about a new sewer line (not to be confused with the water line crisis of earlier this summer)

"Both developments are good news for owners of MA, who have consistently said they need public sewer and water before they can expand."

"Officals from the parent company say concerns about attendance, particularly earlier this summer, have put expansion plans on hold for now. "

"We're waiting for the park to take off (in attendance), to see if it can support that type of capital investment. Then the availability of utilites will become more important." Brian Witherow

So they say they want water and sewer to expand now the township is trying to help and they say they don't want to expand until they have higher attendance. Seems like it has been pretty good so far this summer. Maybe June was slow but it has picked up quite nicely. It seems like they are always going to have an excuse why they can't expand. Wonder what it will be next time.

Dick make sure MA is hooked up before you leave.

It's all about Coleman Spas

I am sure MrKinzel would agree with this:

Michigan's Adventure needs to stand on it's own.

Until that is proven, growth will be limited, at best. That, and the water/sewer needs to be worked out. Getting closer, but not there yet.
