CF Gutting KI's atmosphere just like CP

^This just bugs the crap out of me that people assume that those of us who don't think the big cooperate parks are horrible must not enjoy the small parks, this is utterly wrong. While Conneaut or DW would not be my first choice (since there are better parks very close by, like KW or Hershey) I really look forward to the day when I can go to IB, and this summer, with the exception of my two local parks the only other park Im visiting is Canobie Lake Park.

Its all about quality, if the quantity is lacking in the ride count but they all are good rides then Ill go there in a heartbeat, assuming that they have good customer service.

2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando

KPJB, Your park is a perfect example of whats fun to me. Affordable, lots of things to do both thrilling and retro and tons of atmosphere caused by many different things Trees, layout, setting, lighting ect.. Only a couple of major attractons yet I've been there 7 times in 9 years and never once got a bad feeling. Same with Knoebels and several other small and corporate parks. All giving me the WORTH every penny and not really worrying about anything allowing for FUN.

I visit both big and small parks. I visit all parks and not only the MAJORS, I go to have and usually do. HAVE FUN.

So whats your definition of a ENTHUSIAST?

Chuck, who don't consider himself a enthusiast but a park fan or more than just coasters, Why? because it's fun and FUN PEOPLE DO it.

If you to parks because thats why you have fun, why does Kings Island have to add something new every year for you to be happy?

Since you love Kennywood so much why don't you look at what they did last year when they installed Cosmic Chaos. They ripped out a lot of trees and what you call atmosphere to do it. The area looks completely different from what it did when the Magic Carpet was there.

Let's rename CoasterBizz to "Bash-the-enthusiast-Buzz!"

What the Hell is WRONG with you people? The creator of the site even gets in on the personal attacks. Let's all stand around in a circle and violently push Chuck from one side to the other until he falls on the ground.

Adults arguing about roller coasters. I now see how pathetic this site really is...

No sarcasm...honestly...

What else would coaster enthusiasts be arguing about? The finer points of vegetarianism?

Oh wait, we do that too. ;)

I think we are missing the main fact and that is in order to survive in any market nowadays within the amusement industry, you need to build and expand (and tear down and rebuild again).

Im sure Cedar Fair looked at options on where it was most cost-effective to build whatever it is they are building. (They really spent a long time and a handful of cash moving earth to fit Firehawk)

I have faith that CF will continue to host KI's beauty and asthetics, and make the best use of the land available.

And yes, Im still missing the Flyers, but still enjoy KI to continue attending, and I'll probally go to Geauga Lake's WWK this year as well.

I just like amusement and water parks too much to let emotions get in the way.

You sure this thread isn't a conspiracy to boost the Coasterbuzz traffic so the investors get excited and want to buy Jeff out? I heard its the next Digg.

I feel special, eightdotthree. You see, I don't care enough about you people to figure out what you are about in order to make a personal attack. You all are so forgettable.

To make this less noisy, I see where Chuck is coming from and I hope KI doesn't get turned into a paved carnival like Dorney.

And that was my daily 10 minute visit to CB. There are many coaster sites in which I can better spend my time reading. By reading this site, one is a customer. The customers get treated like crap here.

Ah yes, the "I'm going post here just to say that it's not worth posting here" post.

Excellent.

Wait a sec. This isn't exactly an e-commerce site. How do you deem that by reading this site you are a "customer" of coasterbuzz? Reading the site in no way mandates any club membership which is the only way you could "buy" something on this site.

Then again, that opens a whole other "can of worms" discussion.

Ha ha, so why do you keep remembering to come back and reply?

Come on guys, there are some pretty mussed up serious issues in the world. To me, the way some companies run their parks is on of them, but it's not a life or death, equality of rights thing (well, for the most part).

Lets try to be nice to eachother, even if we disagree. I've been called names, etc., and have done the same. I'M INCLUDING MYSELF IN ON ALL THIS. We are human. Go do something nice for someone today (and don't tell anyone about it).

You will feel better (I promise) and will have a different outlook on the silly arguments we (including MYSELF) pose here.

(ps-And just be glad we got some real class act parks out there still!!!)

That being said, I credit Cedar Fair for showing great respect for a great park by adding this long awaited hyper-coaster. Lets hope such honors continues. Kings Island in 2009!
^call me a hypocrite, but I couldn't disagree more! Ouch! Snap, you got me!

Just my 2 cents, I ain't gonna throw mudd! I think Kings Island needs a lot more than just another someone cookie cutter B&M. They had great stuff in the Racer and Beast in past years, and have ruined it. But see, we really do have vastly different opinions.

In that I think it will add NOTHING to a rather poor experience of a park, another enthusiast things its the best thing to happen. Where would this world (and coasterbuzz.com) be without different likes/dislikes.

No, I was pretty clear, Jeff could of not had fun at Conneaut, Nor Dutch Wonderland, Nor Waldameer, Nor IB or any other park without a 20 million dollar attraction.
Putting words in my mouth are the height of asshattery. I said I had no interest to go to Conneaut, which has nothing to do with whether or not I want to go to other parks.

I don't understand why that point is lost on people, or why those who understand it find it so offensive. You know, those small parks you like to champion are businesses too, and if they weren't making money, you bet they'd adjust or die.

I just like abuse :)

May I have another? Im willing to end the post yet I will say that wasn't putting words in your mouth. That came off your fingertips or at least the impression from several post you have made.

Probably the same reason You feel I hate corporate parks, KI included. I don't hate em. Theres a couple I don't really care to go back to but I give everyone a second chance. Many times its much better the second time and sometimes it was out of their control, Crowds, Rude employees or something that I didn't enjoy it.

I see your views as well, A park has to change, grow and draw more and new people to succeed. I did gripe they weren't changing anything for this year. I wish them well. I've always felt CF made better choices of investments than Paramount did (Cept for FOF).

I really wonder what or if Paramount really made any ROI on any single investment they had as most had major issues and problems off the bat. Their ROI grew off of overal experience. That park was becoming almost gang like and drunkeness abounded before they took over and they changed it to a better friendlier experience.

See ya at the parks :)
Chuck

Gang like and drunkeness?

Let me represent, brother! Well, I think that my smugglin' and graffi was rightful by...

If you go in expecting a bad experience, that you will get. It's a like a waiter (or grocery delivery guy, cough cough) going in KNOWING we will NOT get a tip.

I mean, the best us goody-goody hippie/punk fun loving non-corporate types can do is LOOK for good things. It works! Tell the parks what you like. And of course, tell them about what you don't like (just like the small indie parks).

I was in a bad mood the last day SFGAmerica was open. I was cranky and alone (go figure!). I went in an overcrowded park with not alot of money, do you think I had fun? Well, I did get a quick vid of the American Eagle actually racing. But other than that, I was outta there in just over an hour. Didn't even get on my beloved Whizzer (and VIPER even DEMON had totally full ques!).

I'd like to go back to the Dorney example again and point out that what one person thinks is atmosphere in the old pictures, would be looked at as run-down and seriously out of touch with contemporary design standards. In other words, an eyesore.

I think it had to become that way to keep up with community standards and expectations. Like it or not, someone approved a rather large housing development that got even closer to the park (I don't know the year), and I'm sure they'd be less forgiving if the park was shoddy and run-down.

It's a lot easier for a Knoebel's to remain the way they look because there isn't much surrounding the place. So you can randomly plop down rides, buildings, and food stalls without any continuity because no one has anything to reference it against.

With DP, people have the local shopping malls, the colleges, the ski-resorts, etc. that push their idea of design forwards more as I'm sure those places remodeled a time or two over the years since those early 1970's DP pictures have been taken. A park that didn't try to to match those expectations would be gone.

Ah yes, the GREAT things about living in America! Starbucks, American Eagle (NOT the ride; gee - all those shirts I still instinctively double-take at), Mc Donalds, Wal-Mart and all those other GREAT, IDENTIFIABLE things we love so much.

Come on, the stuff that was falling apart at Dorney could have been fixed up a bit. Instead, they got the Cedar Fair white wash. Complete removal.

I'm NOT a stock holder, would I feel different if I was? "Make sure you stop by A&F, I have stock!" "Buy a Jamba Juice, I have stock!!!" laughingly from people who have more money than me.

I just don't get it. Does money really buy happiness? If it does, I better get busy!

I'm much happier at Lakeside, Santa Cruz, Holidayworld, IB or Kennywood than at the Six Flags or CF (or Disney) parks.

I mean really, I'm posing this as a serious question!? Should I buy stock in those places and hang out there!? Maybe that would increase my happiness?
