Ohhh.. now.. :) Gonch, come on! Ok ok.. maybe you (being of higher intelligence of course) can explain it to me!
Just playin', keep on hackin' brother. Love ya (your fans) and all your little fuzzy pictures too :)
Difference of opinion? Or am I really that funny?! Well, hell, can't I cash in on that then!
I don't see how adding a hyper to an underdeveloped area of the park subtracts anything, even if it is a cookie cutter B&M.
And I never claimed to be some die hard enthusiast. Hell, I've got some 370 posts and I still don't even know how to quote. I just go to a lot of parks.
And I come to this web-site because I know I can find die-hard enthusiasts who know the good parks from the bad and consider some rides and destinations sacred. I want to hear what they have to say and I respect their perspectives, or most perspectives in general.
I'm here to learn, and to disagreed...and to play devil's advocate. How do you put in a smily face? *** Edited 3/31/2008 2:10:47 AM UTC by rc-madness***

Wish I could, but I don't understand what you're saying half of the time...or adding to the conversation.
Most of it is usually something barely decipherable about how big-business is destroying the world.
Occasionally there seems to be love and hugs stuff and the rest is about late 70's/early 80's bands.
Every once in a while you toss in the "Holiday World, Kennywood, IB, Knoebels" sacred chant...the only bit that ever seems to be remotely on topic.
So yeah, we get your angle. Love and hugs. Big business is scary. Little parks that don't make their business seem like a business are good. The CBGB's scene was happening.
Now that we're past that can we get some real conversation? Or at least conversation that goes in depth on the topics at hand beyond the sacred chant? (this is the forum about the amusement industry, you know)
Oh yeah, I almost forgot:

Does money really buy happiness?I'm much happier at Lakeside, Santa Cruz, Holidayworld, IB or Kennywood than at the Six Flags or CF (or Disney) parks.
It still costs money to go to those parks, so I guess your answer is yes - money can buy happiness. :)
I prefer the latter parks, so I guess in my case - more money buys even more happiness. ;)
EDIT - Spelling. I can buy happiness, but I can't spell it. :p

I've been to Great Adventure 6 times and I've think I've spent less than 12 hours there (no joke - and most of that was sitting on Robin/Chiller after it opened with only lapbars/Batman Chiller was still closed)
Everything else (besides Viper, which gave me probably the worst beating of any coaster in history) totally gave me something that was 100% available somewhere else.
But I do like your pictures! I spent a 1/2 hour this afternoon teachin my 3 lil' baby cousins (1.5, 3.5 and nearly 6) the greats of coasters!
We spent mosta the time on youtube - but I realized that the best vids for the to watch were mainly the most cleanly produced - the Lordgonchar vids! And we enjoyed.
I am really biased to real rock and roll and classic coasters, but I see your point;)

Is the off-season over yet?
Three More Weeks (to the day,) Moosh, three more weeks til Ill be opening the "dubious" park that this thread is centered on :).
Ill be sure to silently cry for how bad KI is now compared to back then while I break my off season on the Beast ;).

First, everyone here should know that the "lake" near Maverick was emptied while constructing was taking place. And, when construction was over the lake was refilled. It ain't rocket science.
Second, Paramount butchered the atmosphere of Kings Island. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy anything they did...but they certainly forever changed the park.
Third, I think CF is as sensitive, if not more sensitive than any other park operator out there when it comes to trying to preserve the character of the environment around their parks. Cedar Point is the best example. They built some of the largest roller coasters in the WORLD in one park on a peninsula...surrounding hotels, campgrounds, a water park, etc and did it about as unobtrusively as you could ever imagine. Look at MF for crying out loud. I LOVE the trail and thought it was all but destroyed when they announced that ride. That hasn't been the case.
Wahoo--who much prefers assclownery to asshattery and who wishes he had the last 30 minutes of his life back.
But when I read that Small world site, wow! Made us look like cupids! Really puts things in to perspective.
What REALLY REALLY puts things into perspective is when we see how cool others' points of views are and can actually respect them. (ok ok insert joke here, I just can't think of one!)
But it's really not that big of deal.
It sucks spending the day at Cedar Point with a bunch of yuppie 'cedar point' jacket wearing, north shore-ers closing their eyes as they tell me that 'they got in an hour earlier'.
But it's funner to watch their little kids cry on Cedar Downs!!!
(just kidding - not fun to watch any kids cry. I thought I would get fired when I stopped the entire Blue Streak operation for an abused kid getting dragged on the ride against his will).
My business? NO
But I gotta heart.
(a dark black one at that!)
The funny thing about these threads is that if you say you like a Cedar Fair park, especially Cedar Point you get labeled as a money loving corporate monger. I have been visiting Cedar Point since I was a boy, I am 30 now and I have a special place in my heart for the place. The atmosphere hasn't left the place, its still there just as it always was. Its just different.
For the record I am with Gonch in that money can buy me happiness if it means I no longer have to work a 9-5 and can travel where I want, when I want.

Who are those people? I have never run into them and why do you hate them? I am lost.
They used to loose their big baby bonets (sun block hats) on the Blue Streak. I have pictures of crew members wearing them acting like they are crying (which I will not, out of respect, ever release). - The bonets were usually spoken for at the end of the day. But just remember all those 'pretty' houses along the (help me please, not very talkin' about these days) "Chausaleeseau??")
I will release the '93 crew pics of us posing the the 'yet un-neutered' PTC trains, all ah-gay happy doing one of those silly triangles in the station (with the 2 trains lined up, see how we did that!) AND THE PICTURE THAT Jack F****s wanted us all "FIRED ON THE SPOT" for, the one at the top of the lift, under the 'decorative cupola'.
It was really sick how politics come to play in this, but I'll just say at the time (1993) if any of us thought that we shouldn't do that, we wouldn't have. No joke. I was the last in for the photo shoot "just wake up and put your shirt on, then go back to bed!" I mean, it was innocence, (7 of em, and a pretty sweeper!)(and a stop of the lift crank!)(and a little more I better shut up!)
But screw it, I got the pictures. It was turning into what we know now as CP. GOOD management and supervisor positions were being taken by people who wanted (and were promised) money and 'power' at the point. I wonder what it's like to work there now. I wonder who still is there! (I KNOW who's not!)
I mean, taking a pic on the Blue Streak lift was means for deportment, but being forced to stay until 1am in the lift of Disaster Disco to remove yellow lights and replace red ones (on Magnum night!) suffering fainting, bruises and cuts was ok!)
Ahh, the beautiful point :) It looks so wondrous!

Sorry, guys, I DO need to work on wording myself. Have a little impediment :) I think I'll do better just showing pictures, but that's tough on here. Not as tough as the English language, to be honest. *** Edited 3/31/2008 3:02:11 AM UTC by CoasterComet***
Not only do you not make sense in most of your posts but you seriously need to also watch how you word things.
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

No, but it buys plane tickets to amazing locales that don't have roller coasters. It also buys amusement park tickets that people are constantly complaining cost too much.

Time to go take my prozac (NNIIICCE - you might understand that).
Are you afraid of blacks? I'd better go watch a little more CNN.
God forbid! Somewhere between GWAR and Michael Moore, we have lost all human-ness (I vote for GWAR).
Hey, how bout those Cedar Downs and Frontier town Ghosts!
Come on guys, it's a rollercoaster discussion site!
