Am I jealous? Hell yeah. ;)
I hope this leads to something impressive.
Plain and simple-- they had a mild winter and the weather in March was good for placing concrete. The contractors doing the excavating and concrete work want to get in there, do their thing, and move onto the next job. They're not interested in some magical date "X number of days" before Opening Day 2007. And they're not going to turn down other jobs before or after because they're already committed to said magical date @ CP. They'd be doing the work now if they were putting up a Whack-a-Mole stand or new restrooms.
On the other hand, if it were 10 degrees and the frost was 4 feet deep, they wouldn't be pouring concrete even if it were April or May.
But it is nice of Cedar Point to put in a tribute to James Garner. :)

The statements seem to be taken out of context. While I'm sure they drop clues in the text here and there, I find it absurd that every word has a special meaning that refers directly to the ride.
"Amazing" and "unprecedented" are both used to describe their meeting with Mr. H, in that it is amazing and unprecedented that he would show T&T the project for 2007. And project could mean anything. When CP decides to repave the parking lot, that will be a project. As will be when they plan to plant new trees. The term "project" does not necessarily indicate that there are several things, nor does it necessarily indicate the size of the project.
From Dictionary.com
Project (n): A plan or proposal; a scheme. *** Edited 4/4/2006 11:50:47 AM UTC by djDaemon***

However, taken in context with what is happening in the park (earliest construction, HUGE footers, HUGE plot of land), it is hard not to think both showing T&T and the project itself are "amazing and unprecedented". Especially if the name "Maverick" is the name of the actual ride.
Bottom line - yes, it could mean anything - but I think not. Skipper, weather it's multiple rides, a new area, or one big coaster, all will have multiple components and statistics, and I think that is what T&T were reffering too.

Thom, I'm in no way saying that those words, cannot be referring to the ride. I'm just saying that it seems too many are jumping to that conclusion.
As for the "huge" footers... we'll see how big they are once we get a look at them with our own eyes. As for the earliest construction, I wouldn't look into it at all. Nice weather + vacant land = early construction. Notice the lack of HUGE/MULTIPLE attraction in that equation. *** Edited 4/4/2006 12:14:34 PM UTC by djDaemon***

My first thought would be that the large white thing is actually several pallets wrapped in white plastic, which would be landscaping material. Although, I'll wait for the pic... impatiently. ;)

Oh, and they hired a John Wayne impersonator to read the spiel.
^The white thing was probably one of the large pieces of equipment required to make this amazing ride work properly (pistons, tubes, hoses, doohickeys). I'd explain it to you, but I think Rideman could probably do a better job.
