Cedar Point's Blog is teasing us!

I love it.

The teasers are great.

The teasers are lame. I would rather see a creative play on words than, "We know and you don't."

Am I jealous? Hell yeah. ;)

Oh great more waiting and waiting. I've waited enough this year for all kinds of things. I'm still waiting for May...

I hope this leads to something impressive.

Crap, I wallowed through 20 pages of this? But you started getting closer as to why they started pouring footings so early.

Plain and simple-- they had a mild winter and the weather in March was good for placing concrete. The contractors doing the excavating and concrete work want to get in there, do their thing, and move onto the next job. They're not interested in some magical date "X number of days" before Opening Day 2007. And they're not going to turn down other jobs before or after because they're already committed to said magical date @ CP. They'd be doing the work now if they were putting up a Whack-a-Mole stand or new restrooms.

On the other hand, if it were 10 degrees and the frost was 4 feet deep, they wouldn't be pouring concrete even if it were April or May.

But it is nice of Cedar Point to put in a tribute to James Garner. :)

I'm amazed this thread hasn't been named "The D. Kinzel Code" with all this examination of t-shirt artwork.

I think today's update of "amazing and unprecidented" is interesting. Certainly doesn't eliminate a 500+, new themed area, 4D, mega looper, and 2 coasters, but a single flyer would be tough to call unprecidented on it's own, even if it were a world record breaker. Yes, it could be, but I think this clue deminishes that possibility. I'm personally torn between a 4D, mega looper, and 500+, but leaning towards a 4D.

Tom

What clue?
I think the use of the word "Project" is weird. Meaning there is more then one thing?
Sorry keith, I respect your opinion, but do not prescripe to it. A new 4D or any large single ride could and usually is reffered to as a project, during it's construction. Yes, a project could mean two, but it usually short for "constrcution project"

Tom

My "project" last night was cooking mac-N-cheese. It was "unprecedented", because I used a different spoon than I normally do.

Don't read into the text too much, people.

I'm sorry, this is Cedar Point not Martha Stewart - when CP says "amazing and unprecidented" I tend to think at the very least given the footers to date, the ride will be big.

Tom

Or, it could be that T&T are doing what they're paid to do. Either one could be the case, really. ;)

The statements seem to be taken out of context. While I'm sure they drop clues in the text here and there, I find it absurd that every word has a special meaning that refers directly to the ride.

"Amazing" and "unprecedented" are both used to describe their meeting with Mr. H, in that it is amazing and unprecedented that he would show T&T the project for 2007. And project could mean anything. When CP decides to repave the parking lot, that will be a project. As will be when they plan to plant new trees. The term "project" does not necessarily indicate that there are several things, nor does it necessarily indicate the size of the project.

From Dictionary.com

Project (n): A plan or proposal; a scheme. *** Edited 4/4/2006 11:50:47 AM UTC by djDaemon***

It seems there will be more than one thing though since at the end they say why tell you everything at once
OK, I have re-read the blog and yes, "amazing and unprecedented" could be reffering to the fact that T&T were shown the 2007 file. And yes, it could mean anything - no question.

However, taken in context with what is happening in the park (earliest construction, HUGE footers, HUGE plot of land), it is hard not to think both showing T&T and the project itself are "amazing and unprecedented". Especially if the name "Maverick" is the name of the actual ride.

Bottom line - yes, it could mean anything - but I think not. Skipper, weather it's multiple rides, a new area, or one big coaster, all will have multiple components and statistics, and I think that is what T&T were reffering too.

Tom

Oh, of course!

*rolls eyes*

Thom, I'm in no way saying that those words, cannot be referring to the ride. I'm just saying that it seems too many are jumping to that conclusion.

As for the "huge" footers... we'll see how big they are once we get a look at them with our own eyes. As for the earliest construction, I wouldn't look into it at all. Nice weather + vacant land = early construction. Notice the lack of HUGE/MULTIPLE attraction in that equation. *** Edited 4/4/2006 12:14:34 PM UTC by djDaemon***

I was checking out the webcam and just so happened to catch something rather interesting. Don't know how to post pics but if someone emails me i'll be glad to send it to them for them to post. Im pretty ignorant on equipment, but it looked like a semi with some huge white thing on it. Don't know if it is a lift truck type assembly or what(Hard to tell).

Someone email me and i'll send them the pics to post

I emailed you.

My first thought would be that the large white thing is actually several pallets wrapped in white plastic, which would be landscaping material. Although, I'll wait for the pic... impatiently. ;)

Well I heard that Maverick will be the first mechanical bull coaster. Each train will have 20 mechical bulls complete with hydraulics (supplied by a small rodeo clown themed 'dummy' at the end). There will be no over the shoulder harnesses, but the entire area will be covered in matresses. From what I understand, they will pass out cowboy hats in line and if you make it to the end of the ride (it's only 8 seconds long), you get to keep the hat.

Oh, and they hired a John Wayne impersonator to read the spiel.

^The white thing was probably one of the large pieces of equipment required to make this amazing ride work properly (pistons, tubes, hoses, doohickeys). I'd explain it to you, but I think Rideman could probably do a better job.

This is more like it. Good to see things are back to (ab)normal in this thread again. Keep up the good work! :)
