Cedar Point's Blog is teasing us!

I honestly believe that we will be seeing a new section created in Cedar point, I never realized just how much room WWL took up in the park... that opens up so much more land for flat rides and what not. I personally hope that we get a new cutting edge Intamin coaster but only time will tell.
Since Knoebels' started their construction in March too, does this mean they're putting in a 500' tall Flying Turns? Wahoooo!
Get it right RGB..it will be a 500' inverted Flying Turns. That's what the Lemon Chill Guy is saying.

;)

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
If interested, I have an image on my blog that shows how much land WWL took up and how I think they moved the railroad track. It certainly shows how big of plot they have and I was pretty conservative with marking land towards TC.

That never gets old, does it?

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
As long as it doesn't go into the pun competition again like the holiblog did. At least then we had Paula to keep us going.

Here's some food for thought for members of the "Maverick s'gotta be 500 feet" club:

If y'all didn't hear already Dollywood is building a 121-foot tall mine-themed coaster for 2007. Here's an interesting quote from the project's architect, Bruce Rutherford:

"...it then climbs vertically, straight up to 121 feet where a lot of effects happen and then free-falls out and loops and goes back through it again,” he said.

Construction on the new ride won’t be complete until 2007, according to Rutherford. “But, the expansion is so large we’ve had to start it already.”

Hmmmm....it's only 121 feet tall and opening in 2007 and yet construction has already begun!

But I'm sure it's just a typo and that Dollywood's coaster is 500 feet. After all, why would they need to start now on a ride that's just 121 feet tall? I mean it's not like Dollywood is putting in an entire new expansion!

Oh, wait...nevermind ;)

Mamoosh, construction has not already begun. They just got their permit and construction is actually going to start next month (surprised your quote was taken out of context to prove a point).

"Developers plan on breaking ground on the project in a month, but it will take a full year to complete, according to Rutherford."

We have lots of footers and dollywood breaks ground next month - I think your comparing apples and oranges.

Oh, well then that makes all the difference!

Construction in May = 121 feet
Construction in Feb = 500 feet

How could I be so blind? ;)

wise guy - lol - though

Construction in April = 420 feet (TTD)

Does fit

^ LOL!!! Are`you serious?!

If Cedar Point went over 250 I'd be absolutely shocked.

Yaknow... If they tear out Mean Streak, they could put in a new Intamin woodie (maybe even dueling/racing?) and rebuild that section... Then they could also put in either a small water coaster or flume and a new area... Hmmm.... Keep all your records, drop maintenance costs, and build new, exciting attractions for everyone... Hmmm ;)

But you have to consider the difference in latitude between Pigeon Forge and Sandusky. :)
So I guess this means the coaster will be 379 feet tall by Memorial Day.
Heck... if they took out Mean Streak they could fit anything in there. I'm talking like three 500' coasters. I think I'm getting somewhere with this...
'moosh:it's illegal to fish with dynamite, you know.

After reading all of this, I have only found one thing that is for sure - there is no convincing Thom25 that this ride will be anything but 500+ feet. lol.
40belowbeef has summed up 21 pages successfully in one sentence. You win a free Lemon Chill. ;)
Sweet! When I collect that I'll be sure to ask the guy what he thinks the ride will be and report back. ;)
plan for the Mystery Mine Ride, which architect Bruce Rutherford described as the largest expansion that Dollywood has undertaken. The Mystery Mine features a track that climbs 121 feet and sends passengers plunging over a simulated broken trestle.

Hrm... Let me think about this out loud for a little bit. Bear with me here, my statements will be rather choppy.

"Largest expansion that dollywood has undertaken"

That would hint that the ride is more than just a rollercoaster. Seeing how Tennessee Tornade is 163ft tall. The new ride is only 121 feet tall. So that would indicate size is not the only factor, Since after all it is their "Largest Expansion"

For 2004 Dollywood announced an expansion of 10 rides. If this new expansion is "the largest of its kind" that would indicate this ride is something greater. Probably as a result of theming and design. IE Something like Tomb Raider at PKI. Obviously if it is a larger expansion than 10 rides and a 160 foot coaster. This kind of theming would take quite a while to construct.

Face it, Cp doesn't pour 20 million dollars into a themed ride.

7 of their last 8 coasters built where Height Records of Some kind.

Since kinzel has been boss they have broke the 200, 300, and 400 foot barrier.

I don't know construction time of magnum but breaking the 300, 400 foot barrier took 12 + months to construct.

They haven't had a coaster since 03.

Not saying that its a 500 footer. Could be Flyers, Dive machine, Woodie, etc etc etc, But history tells me if this is a rollercoaster it will be large. My thinking is a hell of a lot more rational then the its getting a kiddie coaster and a flat ride. *** Edited 4/6/2006 1:52:20 PM UTC by PsychoMonkey61***

No flyer or dive machine has made it to Golden Ticket awards top 25 list, or the coasterbuzz choice awards for the last 4 years. It's hard for me to believe that CP is going to take the task of building one of these.

Ahh, I'm going to have to go ahead and ask you to come in on Sunday, too...

PsychoMonkey--- you're absolutely right!

Your statements were a bit choppy. :)

Are we sure they're not building the long-awaited pumping station to pump the water from Sandusky Bay into Lake Erie (thus saving Magnum from sinking)? ;)
