Cedar Point's Blog is teasing us!

For those who wish upon a 500' coaster... this COULD... in theory... be a coaster similar to Oakwood's Speed coaster. The lift is a complete 90 degree vertical lift with a 97 degree drop. If you can do it at 115', why not multiply that by 5? ;)

Hey, Cedar Point doesn't have any Gerstlauer manufactured coasters yet... and it'd put an end to the speculation that you'd need a lot of land for a lift for a 500' coaster! Capacity... OTOH, would be an issue since the Speed coaster only has 8 passengers per car, and you'd need a lot of blocks to support a lot of cars (unless, of course, you make a train of cars).

BUT... again, I stand on the notion that it will not be no 500' coaster, but maybe close to the 200' range & will be a "themed" area (I use that loosely) with a variety of rides including a coaster (or two?)....

...but in fantasy la-la land, that type of coaster WOULD fit just because of the small footprint needed for the lift (the take out, OTOH, would be quite significant for that speed).

Of course the new blog update today has nothing about the double secret "manila folder" that they mentioned on Monday. I'm not even gonna post the link for it, it's not worth it. Somebody really needs to have a word with those two boys. :)

You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

CP doesn't spend 20 million on a themed ride?

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA, Why is it called Dragster? Have a launch tree? Have checked flags all over? Have a burnout soundtrack ect?

*chalks one point for theming*

Ok, what else? ;)

Kinzel himself has said that he believes the rides are good enough to be their own experience. He doesn't feel the park needs to theme everything. (paraphrased)

BHAHAHHAAHa..... Yeah we all know those half a dozen flags was what caused them 12 months to construct...

Face it, the just of CPs theme is this: A designed station, a ride name, designed trains, and thats about it.

Granted rides that should have themes do, and you have the occasional flower here and there Cp isn't huge on themeing. Not enough to justify a thirteen month construction period on a small ride.

I am going to bring this thread to a new low. No one has thought of this, I don't even know if it actually exists but...

Does anyone remember a few years back when someone stumbled across some patents for a rollercoaster where the seats faced side-ways on the track? The track type looked to be B&M. Anyways, someone created a 3d animation/rendering of what it could be like and stuff. Just adding orchestrated madness to this 21 page thread of nothiingness! ;)

I think was a design that had been ruled out because of almost inevitably high G's, but I could be getting two things mixed up.
40belowbeef - that is so UNTRUE! I actually think the ride is going to be 4D.

All I have ever said is that I would "like" to see a 500+ footer - but I honestly think it will be 4D, with a new height record of 300 feet.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be thrilled if it is a 500 footer. CP's been burned twice now by not holding onto the record for more than a few years at best. The height differences between Magnum (205), MF(310) and TTD (420) leads me to think 530 is next. The key to this coming true is if construction goes over to MF Island or out of the WWL plot of land.

A 4D would easily fit in the old WWL space AND given the time it has taken to build the 4D in Japan, it would also explain the early construction start with HUGE footers.

Of course, there are a ton of other coasters like a Mega looper that could be our new ride - time will tell.

Tom

I'm sorry, but how the heck would you fit a 500' coaster in that space? And what kind of coaster would it be? They have pretty much all of them except most of the B&M Designs and the 4D. I mean, 500' just dosn't make sense.
Colin, you can't fit a 500 footer in that space, it would have to go outside the space. Furthermore, in all likelyhood given the height, a 500+ footer should have OTSR - and if that's the case, loops wouldn't be out of the question. I will think it's a 4D until construction occurs outside the WWL plot of land.

Face it Colin...Thom's last name must be "Wall" because it sure as heck seems like we've been talking to one! ;)
OH please! I think that is so untrue Mamoosh. I just have fun posting. Unlike you, I don't know anyone in the industry. LOL

I think I keep a pretty open mind, but I'm not going to take one persons opinion over another. I'll make my own decisions based only on solid facts. Right now, the facts say it could be anything.

LOL Thom...I'm just giving you a hard time in jest. Sorry if I offended you, I truly didn't mean to ;)
Mamoosh - you didn't offend me, and I take your comments in the proper light - life is good as we wait for 2007.

OK, cool. It's hard to know a person's tone in a post so I just wanted to make sure ;)
No worries my internet friend.

Just fill me in on what's instore for 2007 - lol. *** Edited 4/7/2006 11:07:07 AM UTC by Thom25***

Here is the thing fellas:

Moosh knows

Moosh has connections

So that means anything he says will translate into 100 % malarchy. I mean come on, if you knew wouldn't you screw with people? Sure, I would.

I also believe if His connections were as high up as Jeff's he wouldn't post in this thread.

My .02 cents... (we still love ya though moosh!)

Have you guys ever wondered this? Ok what if Kenzil really had a name on Coasterbuzz. I know most of you will say OMG he is way to busy but think about this. Ok Kenzil has a name, logs on once a day for 10 minutes once a week. Searches for cp posts and messes with people. I know I would screw with people like this if I ran or owned a park.

LOL PsychoMonkey. I admit I do love to cause waves and tease people. I'm a huge smartazz and sarcasm runs in my veins. But I can be serious too...not that this thread requires it.

The problem with people thinking I'm "in the know" is then in those instances where I am not and I'm merely guessing people think I know something. Of course anyone who reads Cbuzz regularly knows I've been WAY wrong on many occasions, most recently the Thanksgiving expansion at HW.

Anyway so long as everyone is able to have fun and laugh at themselves that's all that matters. Life is too short to argue over a coaster.

mOOSH [up WAY too early on a Friday...UGH!]

Just the thought of Dick Kinzel reading this train wreck of a thread is hilarious. If he has seen it, he probably has had more laughs than the rest of us combined!

Laughing all the way to the bank, really. This is pretty much exactly what their marketing team would want, yes?
