Cedar Fair 2003

Goku,

Do you really think that was the idea when the bought the park? To get people from lower Michigan to go to MIA? I think that if they did that they would be stealing patrons from CP, which to lower MI is "the park". It might not completely slip onto the "back burner", but I would imagine it will get treated a lot like VF, which is unfortunate.

GO CARDINALS!!!

Some articles in the Muskegon Chronicle quoted Roger Jourden's belief tht it would be built, but later articles quoted Camille, who never directly answered the question again. She said they had to propose and plan for expansion.

Why are people so stuck on a hypercoaster for MA? Is it going to put MA on the map? With a hyper already built @ SFGAM to the west and 3 hyper-class coasters at CP to the east, the answer is NO. They're not going to draw crowds like they did 6-7 years ago. For that matter, nor will a B&M invert, standup or drop tower for the same reasons. Every single person in the surrounding market who wants to ride one has been there and done that. It's old hat.

ST put MA on the map because it was different from anything else in the surrounding market. It wasn't another Arrow looper or anything else mentioned above. Say it with me--different. Different is better. Different brings people from long distances and who frequent neighboring parks to visit.

A twisted CCI or GCI with loads of crossovers would be different from anything at CP or SFGAM or for hundreds of miles around. A Setpoint Swing Thing with the Super Saturator package (water cannons, bombs, etc.) would be different from anything for hundreds of miles around.

Better yet, people who visit for these new attractions would find find more of the same. More wet fun in the waterpark, more woodies with ST and WW. They wouldn't wind up coming for just one attraction.

Hyper, shmyper. You want a hyper? Take VF's WT...please. I'll take ST and 2-3 more wooden wonders any day.

Lets not knock Wild Thing until you've ridden it with the brakes off. :)

Excalibur Crew for 2002!

From '96-'98, WT rode just great. They started noticeably choking up on the brakes from '99 on...save for Harvest Weekends, cold days and other inexplicably lucky days like 6/25/01. Visiting nearly every Friday since 6/96 makes a difference.

But I'd still have to give the nod to ST for its brakeless course, the helix(!) and the short, sweet turnaround.

If I had MA's flat, plentiful land and could build 2 more woodies and an Invertigo for the cost of a hyper, I wouldn't think twice about Morgan steel. Just my opinion.

Accually, ST isn't different from anything in the surrounding market. Did you forget, SFGAm has American Eagle, another large out-and-back? The only difference I can see by just looking at the two is the color, height, the coaster's condition, and one "races."

Also, CoastaPlaya, you brought something to my attention, WT can't be called WT anymore because WT is already WT and has been for years longer than WT has been WT! ;)

WTF?!

Aaron, who couldn't resist. ;)

Well Wild Thing has been know as WT forever. However Wicked Twister has been WT here lately. No one has been talking about Wild Thing, so we know that WT is Wicked Twister. Maybe we should go WTw or ever WT-CP?

Also CPlaya, do they really need another wood? MIA has 3 already! Maybe a decent steel looper.

That's like asking if IB needs LoCoSuMo or if CP needs another steel coaster. Of course they do. More lumber for MA! More!!! This time make it really, really twisty with crossovers, please.

And a quick $3 mill Invertigo oughtta hold MA's looping steel fans for a while. It sure is more than the folks at VF have (think CP's Corkscrew with a helix. Oooooh.)

As for VF's WT....there's at least two songs and two other coasters that share the exact same moniker. I don't see how another coaster abbreviated 'WT' changes anything.

Totally agreeing with 'Playa...Are there any parks out there that don't need more wood? Didn't think so. OK, maybe BPB has enough wood, but everybody else could use a few more....and don't give me any "stuff" about space issues. If IB could squueze TWO more woodies in their restrictive location, anybody could add more wood!
I never figured Michigans Adventure would get the same coasters types as the other Cedar Fair L.P parks do. Michagans Adventure would only have to add coasters that CP and SFGAM don't have, because most people in Michigan go to ether Cedar Point or if they go to a Six Flags Park they go to Six Flags Six Flags Great America.
CPlaya, while I will agree you can never have "too many woods" try to explain to the GP how this wooden coaster is different from another. I gurantee when they talk about it, it would be something like, "oh it's a new Shivering Timbers type coaster." Hard to market something you have lots of already.

Good point swoosh.
Did you guys read the latest on Screamscape? They are now saying that VF will get a Wicked Twister type coaster. If that is all the poor park gets, I feel sorry for them. To me WT is the "new" Boomerang

-----------------

It kinda is but it's way better than a bumpey Vekoma boomerang.

The impulse is more customizable. (hight, spikes can be two twisted/ two vertical or normal)

B.S. ALERT

Ok everyone, here's my prediction:
Based on the mysterious 'small basement' at the former Dodg'em site, Cedar Point will install a slightly taller, faster, and longer version of Xcellerator using this 'small basement' as the pit for the hydraulic launch equipment. It will utilize the same island that Millennium Force uses for it's turnarounds.

/B.S Alert

If this actually happens (which it won't) I want to be first one to pinpoint the location of the equipment...somone else said the earthmoving is for footings, but I say it's the equipment. Maybe I'll create a B.S. Site and see how many people actually beleive my rumors...maybe i'll even come up with some drawings...hehehe..

Or that basement could just be for that restaraunt everyone thinks is going to go there. ;)

You know that sounds a lot more accurate than a new ride going there. They do need another sit down at CP.

Swoosh, you mean sit-down coaster, or restaurant?....j/k, I couldn't resist...:)

You can't spell S:UF without UF....Go Gators! Let the pretzel loop tie you in knots...

The impulse going by Wild Thing is also pure BS. Pay no mind. That's not to say VF is getting an impulse, and its not saying that it is. However, no coaster or any ride for that matter is going in the location described by Screamscape.
