Cedar Fair 2003

What's so weak about CP PT's drop compared to KBF's SS? I mean, sure they're 10 feet taller (so are my local PT's) but you really can't tell the difference once you're up top.

I really can't explain it, but it feels as thought Supreme Scream has a little bit more power to it as it goes down, as in it doesn't let up nearly as fast. I just found Power Tower to be a little bland compared to it's taller sister in Cali. I have yet to ride VF's Power Tower, but I am planning a trip to MN for this summer, hopefully everything will fall into place.

Also of all the "shots" that I have been one, WOF's still provides the most airtime.

WOF's general trend of coasters has been:

1981 - Orient Express (Arrow Looper)

1989 - Timber Wolf (Dinn and Summers)

1998 - Mamba

2000 - Boomerang

So other than the 2000 addition of Boomerang they have received a big coaster every 9 years. Let's hope WOF doesn't have to wait until 2007 to get a new big coaster.

Now that's unfair to make that statement. WOF was under HME before 1996 and everything up to then should NOT be figured into that statement. If you look at WOF since CFLP took over it has been a large addition every other year, and trust me it won't be 2007 before the next big thing.

I agree with you the height doesn't matter on Supreme Scream is only 4 feet taller at least thats what i heard I dont know

Never argue with a fool for he may be doing the same

I don't mean the height makes it better, just the way the park runs it...it could also have a lot to do with location. I don't know I personally thought that SS was better than CP's PT.

good, I'm hoping it's not 2007 by the time they get a new coaster! They do get something at least every year. This year they got Thunderhawk, it's not coaster, but it is a fun ride, that can seat up to 40 each time, and it is crowd favorite, it's very fun to watch and there is always a line, though because it seats 40, it's only a couple minutes wait usually.

Here's a little head's up for you on next year. It seems that WOF was quite interested in the Frisbee as well and the final descision for this year came down between the topspin and the frisbee. If what is being said comes true, they may get that frisbee next year. Of course, things change, but as of right now, it sounds promising. Oh and THawk is great, lots of fun, and is by far the best topspin I have ridden in a park setting.

Hopefully a Cedar Fair park near me decides to purchase a Frisbee. (alla Cedar Point or Michigan's Adventure) They look like a sweet flat ride.

If MA didn't go for a nice twisty GCI, I'd love to see them get a Zamperla Volare or a Huss Fly Away. They'd be a great fit IMHO.

You know what I wish VF would do? Even more than build another coaster? Get a flamin' WAVE POOL. How can you possibly build a waterpark without one? Don't they see the adults and teens sneaking in to the kiddie pool and wonder why? On hot days in WWC, you're completely dry by the time you're done standing in line for another slide. Sometimes, ya just gotta soak in cold water for a while, ya know?

I don't care where or how they do it--just that they do. They'll thank me later when they can charge for tubes, double or triple the capacity of the WWC area and hike season pass prices $10 easily-- while the few hydrophobic complainers get trampled by folks rushing to the gates and waving cash. I'm sorry sir, what did you say? I couldn't hear you with your face down in the pavement like that. Yes, that does look very painful. Shall I get you an Advil?

This years Valleyfair's 2002 season pass went up $10.00 from last year. So if they were to raise there season pass that should be an indication that Valleyfair is prepairing for something in 2003.

Beast, I hope that VF will get something next year (lets hope its something we can sit down and ride), but to play devil's advocate perhaps Valleyfair was simply readjusting for inflation?

Yeah, but for the past two seasons they've also offered the $50 'Friends and Family' deal in September. This year's passes cost me $15 less than my first one in '96.

The usual MO when they've added rides was to offer passes at the current years' price if you purchased them early.

Then again, the adult gate admission has increased from $28 in 2000 to $32 this year without one new thing going up --unless you wanna 'go Swoosh!' and count roast corn stands and caricature booths :P.

The most jaw-dropping, appalling price hikes are the kiddie/senior rates: They've gone from $6.95 in '99 or Y2K to $15.95 now. I've heard of taking candy from babies and snatching purses from old ladies, but this takes the cake. Take that, you lousy no-good family of four.

Most parks that charge half-price for younguns have a heck of a lot more to offer them--from family coasters that accomodate 36" kids and adults to LOOPING coasters for 42 inchers. VF's product for them simply doesn't measure up.

I guess what I was gonna say before I got all POed was that you can't predict future expansion by this year's prices. With lower early season pass prices, higher gate prices and lower group discount prices, those tea leaves just aren't gonna settle right.

I see how it is! If I remember right I did not count the new coaster's diner and new potty near Mamba in my list of expansions. SO :-P

Also Mr. CPlaya, I never once said VF! was not going to get a coaster next year. I'd actually put money on it.

Also I'm quite shocked at the admissions that VF! charges, WOF is still pretty reasonable when you compare it to SF parks and such. One park that I think charges a very resonable rate is Adventureland. There is a lot of stuff there and the prices are still lower than the chain parks.

I highly doubt CP will get a large coaster in 2003. The only coaster I could see coming then would be a Wild Mouse, Don't get me wrong though, if they get a big casoter I'll be more than happy.

First of all, with the admission prices at VF, they went up what? $2 from last season (single day)? You can go to a lot of places and get coupons and such to get in there for less, and they did that on purpose so more people come at the same price as last year if you use a $2 off coupon. Prices have to go up at some time if you want to have more rides or other improvements put into the park. I don't think that the prices are that bad. I think if you are in the area for a couple of days, a two day pass is a very good price.

CoastaPlaya, have you ever ridden a Huss Fly Away? One ride and I would think you would change your mind. Sure, they might look nice, but even the general public steered away from the Fly Away at SFNE. Once the restraints close in, they really close on you tight. Dont think you can get away with even a little leniency because they are programed to put a certain amount of pressure on you whatever your size. It was so tight, that it makes your stomach feel pain throughout the ride which is not a good thing.

Yes but it is hard to justify a price hike when the park does not receive anything "new" besides a new bathroom complex or a food stand. Also once ROI has been met for the new ride there is no need to keep the prices for admission as high, the parks should then lower the prices back down a few dollars less.

I'm sorry i'm so stupid, but what the heck is an IVERTIGO?

And here's a thought: if Cedar Fair wants to get rid of SFGAM, they should build something that they don't have already. A new coaster design if you will. Can you say: "B&M FLYING COASTER!" Or, how about this: i saw a wild mouse roller coaster with spinning cars. Could MIA get rid of the old cars and add new?

And on the subject, MIA just got a whole makeover bigger than this in 1999, the year AFTER ST. They got a new entrance, moved rides, and 2 new rollercoasters (Mad Mouse & Big Dipper)
