Cedar Fair 2003

I know this is may be a bit premature, but this is what I think is going to happen in 2003 from some information I have gathered.

KBF -

General improvements, not too much though. Perhaps a flat ride will pop up where Vertigo was.

CP -

Riding the "wave" from Twisted Wicker, the ride will just add a flat this year, if anything at all. There will be some resort improvements, with mainly Sandcastle being affected. Soak City may also add a new slide or two

WOF -

No coaster this year. However look for a ride where the Aquatic Arena used to be. I would imagine a Frisbee will be added, the park had to choose this season between it and the TopSpin, so maybe this year they will get the Frisbee. OoF may also receive some new rides including a water fun tree house.

MIA-

I don't think that the hyper will be this year, I look for either a river rapids ride or maybe even the S&S tower ride.

VF-

Nothing again, HA! Ok just joking, I really think they could be getting the inverted this year, however they may opt to just put in a TopSpin, which is something it doesn't have that the other smaller parks (WOF & DP) have now.

DP-

No major rides in the park itself, but the water park will receive some new slides, as well as some more general park improvements.

They will install coaster (s). Look for waterpark improvements across the board.

A power tower type ride seems to be the rumor for Michigan's Aventure. But I'm still hoping for a hyper if not next year mabey the year after.

What about Dorney Park???

Guys...it is way to early to discuss this; its insane....

Actually Mikey there is quite a bit of activity occuring at WOF, that's what sparked this thread.

I don't understand,

"Riding the "wave" from Twisted Wicker, the ride will just add a flat this year, if
anything at all."

Gravity knows no force, like Millennium Force. breathe. You have just broken ten world records.

What is some of the activity at WOF? I just posted a trip report a couple of days ago.

i think that dorney will get a coaster. maybe similar to xcelerator, depending on how well it does. or possibly a b&m floorless. if not steel, it will be wood. there have been rumors for a new woodie (possibly with a loop) to be put near laser, and there is some room there. what DP needs is a coaster across from the river rapids. there is some space and it would help spread some of the crowds in to a potion of the park which isnt used except for a back way in to the water park. check out my RCT park of dorney in 2005 over at coasternet.

Worlds of Fun is definentaly going to get some sort of drop tower next year.

Valley Fair is getting Falcon next year.

I'm opting to see any type of ride next year at Dorney Park. Whatever is out there, Dorney is qualified for.

Cedar Point needs a year to breath, but I do expect another upcharge attraction to make up for Vertigo. I also expect to see more expansion on the resorts and I keep hering about some type of ride from Intiman.

Michigan Adventure, I'm waiting to see Cedar Fair's first big move on this park. The quality of this attraction wil set my record for how determined this park will be in the chain.

One of Cedar Fair's parks is supposed to get an Intiman woodie soon. The question is who? It's mainly gotta' be between Cedar Point, Worlds of Fun, and Dorney Park.

(or Michigan Adventure can get a hyper woodie ;) Son of Timbers or Colossal Shiver Dragon ;) ;) ;) )

and speaking of a coaster for dorney, i just found this at screamscape

"Dorney is looking long and hard at the new B&M Flying coaster design and would love to build one that would fly next to, and perhaps over sections of, the Thunder Canyon rapids ride."

XFlighter - riding the "wave" means they will be counting on the success of Wicked Twister to carry over to the next season so they don't have to add another large attraction if anything, much like they did after they added MForce.

rcthemepark36 - there is quite a bit of activity at the location of the Aquatic Arena. They are in the process of removing it. There are construction fences and the entrances to the place have a new wooden wall to keep people out and from seeing in. So far the bleachers have been removed, the stage, and the tank is all but gone. I would imagine the infrastructure of the roof will be down soon as well.

Groundskeeperwilly - sorry about leaving out Dorney originally, I corrected my post

Vertigo - it's been confirmed by higher ups at WOF that they are NOT getting a coaster next year, I too would imagine that they are getting a drop ride, but who knows. I have not heard about that Itamin woodie. So far they have only built one woodie here of late (Ghostrider and that was CCI)

bb_dg - that's the biggest crock of poop I've ever heard. Don't believe everything you read on Screamscape. That sounds like it should belong on WildRumors on the old ThrillRide site.

Uh...Worlds of Fun already has a "drop ride." Granted, Detonator is only a space shot, but it wouldn't make any sense at all for the park to add another drop ride (like an Intamin giant drop, for example). If anything, one of the Detonator towers would be converted into a turbo drop.

-Nate

coasterdude318, I was kind of thinking the same thing.

-----------------
Excalibur Crew for 2002!

Coasterdude - Detonator is a 1st generation S&S tower ride, so it would be very difficult to convert it.

-----------------

Really? I have some Cedar Fair information for 2028, I know it's a little premature, but here is some information I have gathered... ;)
What is the difference between a "first generation" S&S tower and any other generation? And how would this make it any more difficult to convert one tower from a space shot to a turbo drop? It would take some work, yes - it's not like you can press a button to switch from "space shot" to "turbo drop" - but that would certainly be a heck of a lot cheaper than building a new tower.

-Nate

Cedar Fair is a 'by the book' company. They standardize their ride packages acroos the company. Morgan Hypers, B&M's, Arrow Flumes and Shoot the Chutes. They are able to share maintenence info and performance records to grow the learning curve. Granted, they have a Vekoma, 2 Barr Raft Rides, etc., but they stick to what works for them.
No way World's of Fun will get a drop tower when they already have Detanator. I'd look for something like a Huss ride or hopefully, a CCI woodie. Behind Zulu there is plenty of room for a nice "legend" type coaster.

-----------------

rcthemepark36 - I tend to lean in that direction as well. I think that WOF will be getting a Frisbee, with as much interest as they had in them when deciding what to get this season (it was narrowed down to either the Frisbee or the TopSpin), I think it would make sense that they get one as well.

Coasterdude318 - The first generations don't have airtubes running up to the top of the tower, they stop about 3/4ths the way up. This makes for a more intense ride IMHO, than the large versions like Power Tower. So with that tube being shorter, a newer tube that ran the entire height of the tower would need to be installed.

Coo Man Chu - when we want your opinion we'll give it to you. ;)
