Cedar Fair 2003

Swoosh, I've heard from a number of employees at Worlds of Fun that they aren't going to receive a coaster in 2003, but they were hopeful that they'd get one in 04.

Excalibur Crew for 2002!

Oh we have heard that from higher ups that there would not be a coaster in 2003. I too hope that 2004 is the year, and if it pans out like it appears to be, they will have one. Next year I see a flat or two and lots of upgrades. I hope that they finally put in a new front gate to help get crowds through faster. I also think that Scandinavia will look a lot different next year as in the way it will become more of a front street plaza. At least that what we are hoping for. Phil Bender has done a good job as GM of the park so far, I hope he keeps it up.

A junior woodie does sounds like a better title than a kiddie coaster. Plus it does fit that coaster better.

Swoosh, thanks for those stats on park rides. I had never seen that, so that was cool to see. Yeah it's time WOF gets a new coaster, the park is plenty crowded, not as much as Cedar Point, but it still deserves a new coaster.

Knotts...

Boomerang is history, to be replaced by flat rides.

Def Leppard - "X" - August 2002.

Zach's Zoomer shouldn't be considered a family ride. Going back from the first turnaround in the backseat over the bump at the bottom, you get a whole lot of airtime. MA should get a B&M inverted coaster or hypercoaster for 2003, but we don't know yet.

As for Cedar Point 2003, what type of coaster will it be?

MIA Fan, I imagine that MIA will be getting S&S towers or a rapids ride before they even begin to look at a new coaster.

GO HUSKERS!

I expect the reason for people being so eager to speculate on next year's attractions is because considering the past few years this year coaster wise was a bust.

Wicked Twister no matter how cool it may be is just a bigger and improved S:UE. IMO. PKI added Tomb Raider which is not a coaster (maybe an awesome ride...but I am talking coasters). No parks in PA got any new coasters, SFWoA did not get a new coaster, VF, Dorney, WoF did not get anything significant.

It's just not a good year exspansion wise and def. not a good year coaster wise. We're moving on...looking at bigger and better things in 2003 and 04'!

-----------------

Why do people always check in with the usual, "why can't you just enjoy 2002"? Who says I can't enjoy 2002 *and* speculate about the future? It's a topic off conversation, one that obviously people have some interest in. Sure the topics that start with "CP 2003" get annoying after awhile, but it's much more interesting to try and track the direction of Cedar Fair. They're a fasinating company to watch make decisions. We may be a mile off of some of our assumptions, so what? No one is starting any fires here, just speculation based on what decisions have been made in the recent past.

So the people snickering in the background, get over yourselves. ;)

Hershey is getting Roller Soaker

Kennywood just got Phantom Revenge

Dorney just got Talon

Knobel's got a new flat ride

Dutch Wonderland just joined a new partnership

Williams Grove had a pretty big exspansion

and Waldameer is fighting to build a new woodie

Lakemont Park only updates once every decade and their update was reopening Leap the Dips in 1999

Next time you complain about not getting enough exspansion I'll throw you into Skloosh.

Top 5 Coasters:
1.Steel Dragon 2000
2.Superman:Ride of Steel(SFNE)
3.Boulder Dash
4.Medusa WEST
5.Pyrenees

B&M Tycoon was talking about 2002. DP got Talon in 2001 and Kennywood got Phantom's Revenge in 2001 too... and so on.

Vertigo, even with those expansions, there still really isn't that much to talk about in 2002. The real big coaster to be added this year was SUF, and..... was there another coaster added? :) I do agree with B&M Tycoon about how CF Ltd is an interesting company to track

Superman:Ultimate Flight isn't that big at all. X and Xcelerator are probably the big ones of 2002. This isn't the best year for our economy so you shouldn't expect a year like 1994, 1996, or 1999.

bb_dg said (A while ago):
"what DP needs is a coaster across from the river rapids. there is some space and it would help spread some of the crowds in to a potion of the park which isnt used except for a back way in to the water park. "

I HIGHLY doubt we will ever see a coaster there. Reason? Just beyond that land (which isn't all that large), there are a bunch of homes. This is the reason Talon's tracks were silenced. The largest I could see here is something similar to Hershey's Roller Soaker, but I even doubt that.

Cedar Point is getting a flat ride where the bumper cars use to be. I saw the construction site when I was at the park April 18th. I went for shadowing day to shadow the safety inspector.

Referring to Vertigo's post about the Economy, maybe you should look at the Dow Jones or Nasdaq sometime as the economy has been getting back on its feet. Also seeing how its only April its kind of early to say whether or not this year's economy is going to be a bust.

Excalibur Crew for 2002!

I just have one question. Why does everyone even say Valleyfair is going to get there so called Falcon? There is no proof. Until there is solid proof of the name and coaster (like actual track or press release), there is no such thing as the Valleyfair "inverted". End of story.

I just get sick and tired of people making assumptions for a coaster that will definitely come.

WCS,

I'm kind of interested to see that you make such definitive statements without having any knowledge that VF doesn't have the Falcon drawn up. For any folks with access to the plans to post them would be moronic as it could cost them their job.

Excalibur Crew for 2002!

But then how do these people know on the internet already. I remember seeing things about this coaster last year.

Don't remind me that parks plan coasters years in advance. I know about that. But until I see solid proof, there is no reason to keep talking about it. If there is an inverted coaster called Falcon at Valleyfair this year, you people can harass me for the rest of my life.

I'm not trying to pick any fights here, but there is no proof that there is an inverted coming.

CP will not get a coaster in 2003. No way, it ain't gonna happen. Get over it.
