This thread has cracked me up because it's titled CAN Cedar Point build another woodie. Hell yes they can, and they have plenty of money and room for one too. Will they? Well we can argue about that until the cows come home.
Mooo!! ;)
Hmmm...Georgia Cyclone is the only Summers/Dinn coaster I thought was decent. But I haven't ridden it in several years. Yeah it was rough...but the back seat was amazing. I always had a difficult time seeing Summers with that ride.
Other than that, the Giant would be my only other guess. But that ride has been changed so much over the years I'm not sure that would be considered *just as good as when it opened*.
Texas Giant hurt me so bad, even worse than Mean Streak hurts. It felt like my ribs were going to break around every turn.
Not a chance. Have you seen the ride? It's boring. The layout isn't even remotely interesting.

Seriously, I'm convinced that if that EXACT layout were built at Knoebel's or Kennywood, it would be running great without brakes to this day, and it would be on many top 10 or 20 lists.
Besides, I've talked to certain engineers that were involved in the design of some of your favorite rides, and he believes maintenance is not the issue.

I rode Texas Giant & Mean Streak their first years and they were very good (and on many peoples tops lists). Granted Kennywood or Knoebel's might not want such overblown, boring layouts (I'm agreeing, not sarcasm), but all I meant was that they would be running more or less just like day one at those venues, probably with the original trains! (Falling from grace because of the many great rides built since notwithstanding.)
Also, I'll be the first to admit that I may be suffering from "faulty memories" of these older "first rides". Back then, my track record was closer to 48 than 648 - what did I know?? *** Edited 6/29/2005 2:34:27 AM UTC by Fubar***

Look at The Raven and The Legend at Holiday World. Do they have an exuberant amount of airtime? No, are they still two of the best coasters in existence? Yes. Pacing and laterals are just as much of the formula as airtime. Broaden your view on what makes a coaster fun before you fall into the enthusi-ass category.
