I know Timberfalls and Pirates Cove are joint, but they might own other attractions too. I know a lot of people ride Avalanche once or twice and then go do a round of minigolf. There might be other things near by that also support the ride even if they are billed as something different. I don't think you can really compare what happens in the Dells to a normal theme park.
Like I mentioned, I don't know their finances. As far as I know Timber Falls could be a stand alone business or they could have several attractions to help spread the costs around. BUT if I were in management I would want a coaster to help bring in people to visit their other attractions rather than relying on things such as mini-golf to help recoup their investment. Now I'm not saying that's happening, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

It is probably my favorite ride, but it may be a failure if it does not put butts through gates. It was walk-on the 2 days I was there last summer...
I don't know if that's a fair way to judge it- by this standard Raven is also boarderline failure because for the entire first half of the summer is it very common to walk on. Honestly the waterpark is what gets most "butts" through the gates at Holiday World, but I don't think anyone in their right mind would call either coaster in the park a failure.

Of course, these two "soft" marketing years are after what may have been the BEST marketing push ON THE PLANET. They also happened whilst the resort side itself was undergoing very major expansion in the form of Castaway. So, YMMV. Will there be a Big Deal installed soon? If TTD's heads-in-beds drawing power wanes, I'd say so. Do all expansions need to play to the resort? Probably not.
Maxair is more the 'different ride experience' thing. I wouldn't mind them -esting with some flats...provided Huss can build them a lil' less cranky. *shakes fist at VF Riptide*

One thing is certain, *if* CP builds a woodie, they should NOT try them to claim any records(like that other Ohio park did with their SonOfABeast woodie)....well, maybe capacity on a double wooden rollercoaster... ;)
I'll take Dueling Sons Of OzCat please....next to the twistee freeze ice cream stand...sweet! :)
I personally don't think they'd have to market the particular mid-sized woodie as an 'est' ride. If they build it after they build something to compete with another 16+ park, then they can have the MOST coasters at any one park, and that is a draw in and of itself that they use quite often...even if it is only half true...
Just a rumor.

Triple racing/dueling, anyone?
Uh, hello! I already mentioned it in this thread :) and I've been calling for a Stampida type coaster to take the place of MS for a few years now. That would give CP the Jr. woodie that several people, me included, think that they could use along with some updated wood. Add a spinning coaster and some flats and all of a sudden a dead area of the park just might spark back to life.
Cedar Point does not need another record-breaker.

Timber Wolf was a success. Other than that, it is pretty safe to say that CF hasn't had very good luck with wood.
When it comes to wood - you make your own luck. Comes down to TLC the bigger parks just don't want to provide.

Seriously, I'm convinced that if that EXACT layout were built at Knoebel's or Kennywood, it would be running great without brakes to this day, and it would be on many top 10 or 20 lists.
