Can Cp get another woodie?

There are a great many people outside these message boards that think MS is fun and rideable. What's your point?

A great many people? Enthusiasts make up on one billionth of the total riding population. That's real impressive.

You're just proving my point. Enthusiasts think only their opinions count. *** Edited 6/29/2005 6:50:18 PM UTC by Coasterbuzzer***

Will somebody PLEASE think of the Children?

Enthusiasts think only their opinions count

Talk about an ironic sentence!

I was talking more about the people I can never drag on MS with me while I give it yet 'another chance.' The minute I see hour-long lines and three trains on MS, you'll have proven a point.

Meanwhile, back on the midway--the actual poster coasters for enthusiasts being wrong are still ID, Corkscrew and CC:MR.

From what I understand, MS still gets long lines and hour waits in the busiest part of the season.

Whats with the attack Coasterbuzzer? I wouldn't call people on a message board typing to each other "writing a campaign."

According to cedarpoint.com Mean Streak is not even in the top eight most ridden coasters in the park. It is in the same company as:

Mine Ride
Mean Streak
Jr Gemini
Woodstock's Express
Wildcat
Disaster Transport
Blue Streak

Not counting the kiddy coasters that leaves five left in the park that Mean Streak may or may not give more rides than. I would say more than just entusiasts think its a pile of crap.

So called "Mean Streak" never had any laterals either so how can it be fun whe it does absolutely NOTHING?

It is a FACT that The Voyage is the greatest thing on the planet!!

Dear SFGAdv:

I want to know if your 2006 woodie WILL have airtime I love airtime and I HOPE your 2006 woodie has airtime because there is nothing better than AIRTIME and I hope the park doesn't install brakes to kill the airtime like Valleyfair did on High Roller have you ridden that it could have AIRTIME but doesn't stupid ValleyUNFair I hope there isn't a dead hill because I don't think a THRILLER should have dead hills only hills that produce airtime because I love AIRTIME and I hope you designed the coaster with lots of airtime because that's what I like lots of airtime and no brakes like on High Roller have you ridden High Roller it could have airtime but the park put too many brakes on it and now it has no airtime which I love I hope you're getting a 200 foot high 5,000 foot long Intamin plug-n-play that's FILLED with airtime and PLEASE make sure it has drops that are at least 70 degree steep because they give you MAXIMUM airtime will the coaster have drops that steep because I love AIRTIME I never thought a park would build one so please make sure its like COLOSSUS at Heidi Park because even tho I have not ridden it I hear it has lots of airtime and I LOVE airtime.

Love, Kevin

I'm so disapointed I have missed all this MS/CP woodie talk!

So tell us...as a MS ride op what's the general reaction of people getting off the ride?
Don't even get me started on how Intamin's woodies aren't really wooden coasters. They are steel coasters that waste trees. (Don't start flaming this as well - I love Colossos @ Heide.) I wish I still remembered the source of this definition, but I definitely remember the definition itself: "steel wheels supported by flat steel rails laid upon laminated wood planks". Of course, we all know that substructure doesn't matter. This is the one simple rule I've used for my entire track record.

Problem: Intamin's woodies have urethane wheels, and the wood supporting the rails is carved into curved segments, not laminated. I guess 1 out of 3 ain't bad?

Another very early bet I'll place - the "new" 2006 SFGAdv plug-n-play pseudo-woodie will be EXACTLY Colossos.

I can imagine Intamin's brochure - "If you have about 30 acres of wasteland in your park (or can raze that many classic rides) in a straight line - we can send you a 170' tall wooden coaster kit by mail." *** Edited 6/30/2005 1:24:55 AM UTC by Fubar***

How recently did you ride Colossus? I've heard reports its running rough.
I rode it during the ACE Europe trip, was that 2002?

That was the second year for that coaster - it was smooth as silk then - even by steelie standards. Can't imagine how it could get very rough - unless there's some serious warping to the trackwork or they went to harder wheels.

Then again - there's different definitions of "rough". I've had people tell me the Lightning Racer is rough?!?

LOL...thanks. I couldn't imagine it had gotten rough considering how it was built.
The Mean Streak reaction is this. The wait is fewer than fifteen minutes and i have been there three times this year. People just dont ride it. On the contrary if you wanna talk about people getting off of it having fun, one train was having a blast, because it was raining. That probably made the ride a bit better, since woodies have a better run in rain.

Excellent. That means that Cedar point is getting one then cause they love steel and they definitely waste trees. ;)

I'm not attacking anyone. And I'm not just referring to this message board. Fine if you don't like MS, but it seems that the general public must think it's ok. My main point is that the coaster enthusiasts think that they speak for everyone when rating coasters. I don't think the coaster community would like it if coasters were ranked by ridership instead of voting.
Where have you been? Cuz you certainly weren't reading this thread!

We've already discussed coasters ranked by ridership. They were just in the posts you squeezed your eyes shut on. Quick! Close 'em again!

People like Mantis better than MS. They like Corkscrew better than MS. They even like Iron Dragon better than MS. Says what? The ridership, that's what! CP actually added a system that allows more trains than before on nearby CC:MR. MS doesn't make the top 10 CP ride list. Go to Cedar Point FAQ, click on 'Rides and Ride Policies' and see for yourself.

*holds up balloon* This is your ridership theory.

*holds up pin* This is your theory facing the numbers.

Any questions?

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

I would be interested in seeing how people on average who go to the park are there for the first time. I mean Mean Streak certainly looks like a bunch of fun, and if most people are in the park for the first time, then most people will line up to ride it because it does appear to be fun.

The low ride attendance might also be due to Mean Streak being in the back of the park.

I doubt its a "back of the park" thing. Gemini and Cedar Creek Mine Ride are also in the vicinity.
It just might also be due the fact that they'll get back on Corkscrew, Draggin' Iron and yes, I suppose even Mantis again for repeat rides. But not MS.

Don't try to spin it. They've spoken...and the word is OUCH.
