Best Headchoppers...

The best one is Phantom's Revenge's dive through the Thunderbolt

Sea World Australia's Corkscrew has a pretty nifty headchopper under the monorail. It was quite amazing that they went with the old style Arrow restraints right up until a few years ago, before changing to the constrictive style in very recent years.

So what if the best coaster in Australia is a second hand Arrow?

I agree with CsTrFrK. Tremors has AMAZING headchoppers.
I like Raging Bull at SFGAm, down the first drop into the tunnel.

Am I the only one who thinks the PR/Thunderbolt intersection creates a much scarier headchopper on the Thunderbolt side of things? I mean, Kennywood didn't put a big soft pad on any of T-bolt's supports as Phantom passes through it!

MooreOn, would padding really stop someone from losing a body part if they were to hit a support while riding?

I'll mention one, After the first main drop and turn around on Knoebels Twister, The second drop right before the helix has great headchoppers. Heck the whole ride is head choppers :)

Is it about coasters or friends? I say both!

Like Rollergator said, Second hill on Cheetah. OMG, Im going to be decapitated as your floating over the speed hill into turn around supports!

SFAW added an AWESOME headchopper over gravity hill on Texas Cyclone this year, but other favorites include Ultra Twister @ SFAW and Legend and Raven @ HW.

Arrow, even the straight parts of our coasters hurt.

If the coaster wasn't so bad, this probably would have been mentioned sooner, Ninja at SFSTL as you go back under the lift (chain tray).
Villain has some great steel headchoppers. There are a couple of spots where you want to pull your hands down.
i wouldnt really call them head choppers, but on Mindbender at SFOG i touched the tress..twice, One at the top of the hill right after the diving helix thingy, and then on the last turn over the midway. I was sitting in the right seat and leaned out to the right
Ghost Rider has some great head choppers after the midcourse brakes. Mean streak has some good headchoppers, and Apollos Chariot has the little shack it goes through.
I got to finally ride Kraken at Thanksgiving and enjoyed the nice concrete headchoppers towards the end....

I can't believe no one has mentioned Desperado out in Primm. They actually try to restrict you from holding your hands up, I've never seen that on any coaster. That didn't stop me, but after the two tunnels, I had a hard time keeping them up. I've never thought any roller coaster was dangerous, until i rode that one. Although I may have broken the 'rules', it was still a great ride and a great experience.

While someone mentioned the Beast's upper helix tunnel, I feel the bottom section entrance was the best. Just ask Intamin Fan, he was there when I screamed like a girl actually thinking I was done going into that black hole.

Runners up: PKD's wonderful Grizzly tunnel and Disneyland's Matterhorn for overal ride headchoppers.

DDR, the only addiction that can somewhat cure the coaster blues!

GEMINI!!

The first time I rode this thing was at night, from the second seat, expecting a nice, gentle ride. And, of course, that's exactly what I got... Save for one amazing moment of pure terror, when I unexpectedly found myself thrusting my hands down as far into the train as they would go, and cringing as I ducked. That still ranks as one of the biggest surprises I've ever recieved on a coaster.

Viper and Space Mountain are very good, of course... But I gotta be a maverick here and bring up the Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Sure, it's slow, and none too surprising... but isn't watching a section of track that looks about even with your shoulders slowy come to meet you a little unnerving? I find two spots like that on the ride.

Oddly, I found very little thrill from the headchopper on the old Steel Phantom. It was over before I could register that it was there.

I think ghost rider at knotts has some great ones, if I remember correctly

Finally someone mentions Ghostrider! I was getting worried. The ride is practically one big headchopper. :) Lots of excellent ones on that ride. Even the first drop gives that sensation with the roof over the drop!

Phantom's Revenge (as was mentioned above) has an excellent one with the T-Bolt. That one made me throw my hands down.

Finally, disneyland's Matterhorn is downright scary. The caverns are so tight, it really makes you think twice before raising your hands. Of course, the current refurbishment involves the creation of larger passages for the train, so we will see if the headchoppers are still there when they are done.

California Screamin- it's good!
