Best Headchoppers...

Odd that this is the first post in this thread that doesn't mention a coaster. King's Dominion's Haunted River had the best headchopper I've ever experienced. I rode it countless times, and my instinct was to duck every time I descended the final drop. It was by far the most deceptively close headchopper on any ride I've been on.

I agree with Gemini and Grizzly. The section under the brake run between the loop and the dive loop on Medusa East also caught my attention.

I say we take off, nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Wow, you brought back a topic from January for that? Granted, it's somewhat amusing, but probably planned for the picture...

Whenever you can ride a roller coaster and experience 15 spots of intense airtime, you know you're on a good coaster. (see: Phoenix)

I got one to add to this list since I posted in January, Superman Ultimate Flight, although those are more armchoppers. Another good armchopper is American Eagle coming out of the helix. I move my hands every time.

Also the hill after the hammerhead turn on Nitro is a nice headchopper.

#1 Wood-Shivering Timbers
133 coasters in track record.

Didn't see this mentioned, but New England's Ride of Steel's final bunny hops [over and] under the helices always manages to get the train to duck

Gemeni's is the best, but TTD's bodychopper is great, even though you twist out of it's way early, that first visual is nuts.
Titan @ SFOT has good headchoppers in the first helix and after the MCBs

Even though I responded on this earlier in the year, I will vouch for The Beast, in the final helix. Gregleg was sitting in front of me, and struck his fingertips on his left hand as we tore through the shed. Ouch!

Timber Wolf has 4 good ones (the first one being the best)and is an all around good woodie.

Gemini's is good, but the one that caught me off guard and really would have hit my head if I hadn't ducked in time (6'4" here) is the head chopper on the lift hill of the Wild Mouse at Blackpool. Ask anyone on the European Coaster Trips, it's close.

Gemini, it is great watching everyone's hands go down as they come over that hill. Then screaming "my Hand my Hand". That would be great for holloweekends. Tie on some fake hands and fingers to the top of that beam.

Now tell me Cedar Point is running out of space.

every year when i go to CP i ride gemini at the very least 7 times. (sometimes i have gone as many as 15) and the classic headchopper on the i think 6th (counting turnarounds) hill gets me testing my vocal chords and putting my hands down.
Ninja at SFStL is hands-down the best I've seen. The rush at the chain trough is phenomenal.

Gemini's not bad, either, and Lakeside's Wild Chipmunk is pretty good, too.

Mamba's really isn't that special, as the whole thing is too big. Big Dipper at Camden, for instance, is better.

Gemini! Because when you look at it, it's really not that close, but flying over the hill and seeing it in front of you is a different story!

Coaster Insomniacs

The head choppers (trees) on the Zambezi Zinger, Mamba's Helix, and Adventure Express's Tunnels (with the shelf-like things), and the Beast.

Congo Falls - 90 (one day)

The Ninja at Six Flags St Louis. I rode it last month for the first time in 12 years and I was freaked by how close the returning lift chain passes overhead as the train exits the second inversion. I remembered having that sensation the first time I rode it too.

Of course I love the guillotine action on Gemini and Viper (SFGAm) as well.

I wonder if there's ever been a "best footchopper" thread for inverteds? Hmm...

The best ones I have expierenced are on Lakeside's Wild Chipmunk. I usually don't have my hands up anyways but it still looks like you are going to hit your head on the bunny hops.

Ninja at SFStL- great chain headchopper when you exit the immelman and exit under the lift

Viper at SFGAm-don't remember where the best one is but there are a few good ones.

Well, at PKI, besides The Beast, as mentioned above, Adventure Express has some neat head choppers. Also, Son of Beast has a good headchopper when the train is leaving the second helix and dips below the support structue for the upper level of the helix. Also, Runaway Reptar in Nick Central at PKi is crammed with awesome foot choppers.

And lets not forget OL:FOF(lol?)
