Anyone Glad that Holiday's new coaster is not the longest?

Look on the bright side....I'm pretty sure EVERY RIDE you guys have discussed is better than Predator at SFDL....and THATS the only woodie I get. :-(
Moose:

By my count that is 38 total. 13 in ohio, 4 for Indiana, 2 in Kentucky, 6 in penn., 2 in Cal, 2 in Illinois, 2 in Maryland, 4 in Virginia, 1 in Florida, 2 in Canada. So that is 9 different states, and Canada. Also consider that going by the Golden Ticket awards, I have been on 5 of the top 10 wood coasters. Also just got back from IB and SGFAM, and planning to go to Kennywood for the first time this year.

Here is the list in order of what I like, for your reference:

1. Beast at Paramount Kings Island

2. Legend at Holiday World

3. Raven at Holiday World

4. Knobels Twister

5. Lightning Racer at Hershey Park

6. Wildcat at Hershey Park

7. Viper at Six Flags Great America

8. Thunder Run at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom

9. Phoenix at Knobels

10. Cornball Express at Indiana Beach.

11. Villian at Geuaga Lake

12. Hoosier Hurricane at IB

13. Gwazi at BGT

14. Grizzly at PKD

15. Screachin Eagle at Americana

16. Hurler at PKD

17. Roar at SFA

18. Blue Streak at CP

19. Wild One at SFA

20. Racer at PKI

21. Comet at Hershey Park

22. Rebels Yell at PKD

23. Twisted Twins at SFKK

24. Big Dipper at Geuaga Lake

25. Tornado at Stricters Grove

26. Wild Beast at PCW

27. Mighty Canadian Minebuster at PCW

28. Mean Streak at CP

^The Beastie and Ghostercoasters deserve a lot of love. :-)

Starchaser,

I was there (Darien Lake) in early June and Predator was somewhat tolerable. I only rode it once in the front seat, however Bill said when he rode it a few more times it was VERY rough.

I have been outside of Ohio.

Michigan doesn't count. :)

It's Stricker's Grove, not Stricter's, and it's not the Little Dipper, it's called the Teddy Bear. My kid got his first woodie credit on it, and it's a lot better then some of the wood out there.
hey, i'm all for holiday world to get another coaster, weather it be a record breaker or not. i think the legend is one of the greastest coasters of all time and the raven isn't far behind. i admit the beast is in my top ten and is still a favorite, depite the heavy braking. but i have rode it breakless at night, which was in the mid eighties. i could care less if they take over the record for longest wooden coaster. if you want record breaking coasters, go ride the ultimate in the u.k. or dragon mt. in canada. i will tell you that the knoebels twister has slowly becoming a top three ride. i now prefer it over the phoenix. also i rode the coney island cyclone recently and gave some fantastic rides. it is still my number one, it is the only u.s. coaster to have re-rides and they were giving them for 2 people for $5.00. there was also a tip jar at the exit, only in new york.
BT: But let's just say that you didn't ride Beast at 7, didn't have all those memories of being terrified by it and overcoming that fear and it wasn't part of all those summers growing up at PKI.

Let's say you rode every other coaster first and then came across the Beast.

Are you sure you'd feel the same?

I'm just explaining the other POV here. There's plenty of Magnum nuts who feel just the same (NAPHA polls, anyone?)

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Playa - I remember when I was a kid...the movie "Xanadu" was THE. BEST. MOVIE. EVER! I saw it in the theater over and over and over. It was my favorite movie for years after that.

I saw it again just recently. What a big heaping piece of crappola it was. WTF was I thinking? ;)

coasterqueenTRN's avatar
Wasn't that the one with Olivia Newton John? ;-)

I thought the same with Kiss Meets the Phantom of The Park as a kid until I saw it again just recently.

I couldn't help my LMAO.

In 1989, SFGAM's Shockwave was my favorite coaster, and Iron Eagle was my favorite movie. Anyone remember Iron Eagle? 16-year-old steals an F-16 and listens to mixtapes while bombing things? Anyone? Lou Gossett Jr.?

I'm probably more ashamed to admit I liked Shockwave. Because if I liked Iron Eagle, clearly, I had nothing resembling good taste in anything.

I am going to say this again. Everybody has an opinion. Some people are different than others. Some people may think that Mean Streak is the best coaster out there. Some may say that Thunderhead is horrible. But then again.. those people don't get out much. ;)

i'm not sure what to put here..

Yes, I remember that one. I liked ALL the 80's movies. I still like them, well, the good ones. LOL!

Is John Hughes still making movies? ;-)

OMG I remember Iron Eagle, Olsor! You should be ashamed! ;)
If any wooden coaster is ever build longer than the Beast, I will burn that ride down.

People should respect the Beast and keep it happy. You don't want the Beast to get mad.

Coasterbuzzer said:
If Beast is sooo mediocre, why did HW copy some of Beast's travelling of the terrain? When you get down to it, after the three 100ft. drops, it mostly just follows the terrain.

I don't think there is a patent on terrain coasters. They have been around since the early 1900's.

'Moosh: If Olsor should be ashamed what should *I* be: I liked Iron Eagle II! :)

"Your call sign is Cobra? The big headed snake....it suits you!"

That being said, I wonder why "favorite" and "best" cannnot be two separate things. For example by just about any metric, The Empire Strikes Back is the "best" Star Wars movie. I even agree with that statement. However, Return of the Jedi is *still* my "favorite" one.
