Okay FINE. You know I was watching that speeder scene over and over on my hot, sweet 4-head VCR too.
Besides, there's just no topping Xanadu. Moosh wins!

I'm quite sure if Holiday World wanted the record they could have gotten it
Yes, but they would have done it without lengthy pointless flat track just to drag it out until you get to that one cool helix. I respect the Beast, and I find it to be a fun ride. But so much of the ride is just existing for length. I don't find anything sentimental about a coaster that was overextended just to be long with nothing in between. It's the same as some CP fan being upset that KK took height records- those coasters only exist for height and speed records and are over as soon as it's accomplished. There's just something really callused about these type of coasters. Which is why I don't comprehend anyone comparing the Legend to the Beast. They are pretty much nothing alike- at all. Being called a terrain coaster is a very very general description- about as general as both of them being wooden coasters. The Legend is a work of art that uses every inch of its course to do something special(ie it actually has a dynamic pace), and the helix that so many like to compare is only similar in the tunnel department.
Most of that is MY opinion, except about being able to compare Beast to Legend. :)
Empire Strikes back is the best Star Wars movie, although I think visually, Revenge of the Sith was best.
And, may I add Beast Roxors 1111111! Just to get back on topic. *** Edited 7/14/2005 8:31:27 PM UTC by Coasterbuzzer***
I also had the Xanadu album at one point. And I thought I had blocked that whole experience out of my mind. ;-)
Uh, yeah.....the Beast ROCKS!

I remember having some that was like a huge blue boot with a white strip and four huge red wheels. That was one of those Xmas presents that you unwrap, act like you love and then stick in the closet for the rest of it's life lol.
I didn't care for the best and don't care if it's record is broken, the new HW coaster will serve the Beast it's own head on a platter imo you don't have to be bigger to be better. *** Edited 7/15/2005 1:31:57 AM UTC by westcoaster man***
Does anyone remember the coaster special featuring the Raven saying how Will sampled the best coasters around (including The Beast) to serve for his inspiration for Raven? The Legend is basically a larger version of Raven, so in retrospect it was also inspired by the Beast as well. Now The Voyage is really gonna body slam Beast again (only harder) in the ride dynamics department just like Raven and Legend did. Sure... The Beast is a unique fun coaster, but it most certainly is overrated anymore compared to what is being built today. In a funny way, Voyage is actually slamming most of the corporate theme park woodies into oblivion in my opinion. It's funny how the smaller parks can have and maintain great wood, but corporate wood coasters for the most part usually seem to have *running issues*.
RavenTTD also said that Voyage has more air than the Beast. True, very true. But what air? I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, but a Ferris wheel can get more air than the Beast.
I still love riding the Beast, but out of the 18-20 rides this season on it, the only ones I really considered great were my ERT rides at Beastbuzz. No matter where I've sat, no matter which train I was on, most of my rides have been non-eventful, and dare I say, even a little boring outside of the first hill and the double-helix.
But my opinion of the Beast really started to change when I rode the Raven, Legend, Thunder Run, Villain, and others, (just keeping it regional). But when it comes to HW's twosome, it really, for me, comes down to just simple upkeep. HW always rocks because they have a passion for keeping their coasters the very best that they can be. Never a boring or rough ride yet on those two!
heheheh j/k :O)~

Also Tina... as much as it kills me I have to correct you. it's not Tsunami it's J2 (I hate that name also) and yes it is a gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood rough. :)
Gets out of this topic again since I have yet to ride Beast.
Movies with Queen in the soundtrack Alex?
Last time I rode the Beast half the ride was airtime since I was in the last seat. Not from the drops, just from the wheel-seat effect. ;)

nah he gets the airtime in micro-millisecond bursts as the train hops up and down on the rought track in the helixes
Heck, by those standards, Son of Beast would break the record for total airtime for....how long is the total ride on Son of Beast?
Certain victory.
Tsunami - Catch The Wave... :)
bill, wondering if he won't slip up and call the HW coaster "Voyager" ;)
