Anyone Glad that Holiday's new coaster is not the longest?

To be honest, I have a lot going for me and quite educated for someone 21.

Yeah, you keep mentioning that...

keep mentioning that i am 21, or have a lot going for me and am well educated?

Well I mention that I am 21, so I am not compared to older people with years of experience working and the opportunity to obtain graduate level degrees in college. Also I feel that you keep trying to make fun of my education or intelligence. So I am setting the record straight and giving people the facts, so they can decide for themself.

Once again, I am tired of having this topic be about me, so once again just quit bringing my education or intelligence up. This is a forum for discussing amusement parks and roller coasters. Not my credentials, so just stop it. If you really want to know more about me, just private message me, and I could provide contact information such as an email. I have a resume, transcript, and other information about that sort of thing. *** Edited 7/20/2005 12:58:02 AM UTC by Beast Fan***

Beast Fan,

Don't even bother trying to impress these people or whatever it is you are doing. It's not like any of them are worth the time and effort. The only thing they like to do is start petty arguments and make fun of your "grammer".

Hey BF--

Just curious...where do you go to school?

My oldest son is an EE/Math double major at Rose-Hulman. His summer job is doing research at Dartmouth. (He's a freak of nature.)

Good luck in your studies!

Paula (wanna know my son's math SAT score? :))

I go to the university of cincinnati. You can share your math SAT score that is fine. I only took the SAT once, and don't really put that much weight into it anyway.

I do agree that some people on this site associate someones grammar or spelling skill with their intelligence . Not that there is signifigant evidence that there is any correlation between the two, but don't tell some people on this site. I think most people that try to call someone stupid on this site, just disagree with the persons opinion.

They search for a sentence structure in a long post, that is not gramatically correct. Thus proving that the person they disagree with is an uneducated kid.

For them it is much easier to due that, then to try to argue a point and have an actually discussion on roller coasters. It would be nice if people on this forum would not mention anything negative about someone elses ability. Even if someone is not intelligent, or just a kid, why bother to insult them? Also I never understand why people are not as welcoming to new people on this site.

I don't think that a park would not build a coaster longer than the Beast "out of respect." I think a number of other reasons would keep them from doing so before respect would. Not having enough space is one of them, then comes the amount of maintenance that would be needed, then comes the fact that the ride would either need two lifts, have an extremely high first one, or just have wasted useless track.

I remember at No Coaster Con the winter that ST was being built, Roger Jordan (I think that's his name?) was talking about the design of ST. He said that they could have went a few feet longer and had the longest continuos track wood coaster in the country, but they wanted to end the ride with a punch. Maybe that's how other parks feel too?

Now, hopefully I spelled everything right in there... =)

I believe that most of the ride manufactures don't think the GP wants to ride a coaster that is that long.

I'm sure TGG would have designed one for HW but they wanted a coaster that is full of thrills throughout the entire ride. Not jut a ramble through the woods and a huge helix to finish it off.

I'm sure some park will take it in the future but like most everyone here has said "who cares". It's one of the less interesting records.

I think sooner more than later the Beast's record will be broken. Having a wooden coaster with a very long distance and only one lift is more of a reality now. With the new Intamin P&P's, you could go high, fast, and long without being SOB rough. I think that once parks(especially in the US)become more familliar with this wooden coaster concept we will see higher, faster, and longer woodies. And probably will not only beat the Beast in length but spit in its face. So much for respect.;) *** Edited 7/20/2005 2:21:41 AM UTC by mudinthevayne***

It's really funny to have been gone for a long time and return to see that "some things never change." How rediculously funny!

I have not been propelled to say much about coasters at all on this site until I saw the Voyage footage. Quite cool. Could easily be my personal fav (if I ever make it over there to ride it).

Kenny G once held the world record for the longest continually-played saxophone note. People who care? A few. Maybe.

Somehow, people actually purchasing albums prefer combinations of much shorter, but more pleasantly arranged notes instead.

Ya know?

Remember their construction video? The music was the Stars & Stripes Forever. It was fabulous -- just dripping with pride!

That's what it's all about. Not one-upping or holding back out of "respect." It's building the very best coaster you can given all of your individual factors (cost, land, need for capacity, etc.).

I must admit to not understanding why some people get so upset with each other about coasters. We all have our own tastes ... doesn't mean others can't have their own preferences. If I prefer Coaster A, I don't think I should put down Coaster B, or anyone who prefer it.

PaulaAnna ...anyone remember Pollyanna, the movie? (btwTom'sMathSATwas800andhisGPAis4.0andhestartshis3rdyearasaSeniorandhe'dMURDERmeifhecaughtmebragging!)

Beast Fan, you seem to confuse the correlation between knowledge, which you seem to have, and intelligence. And for someone that 'doesn't care' about your SAT scores, you brought it up. Heck, I took the ACT one time, and only missed acing it by 2 points. Guess that makes me more intelligent or something? Riiiigh, bet you won't agree to that.

You're the one that brought your credentials up. No one here cares. You could easily have just ignored it and went on about the Beast discussion. Course, you could just start a beast thread and keep all the beast comments in it, instead of all the other threads talking about the beast. I don't go around starting Phantom threads.

I'd look silly naming myself after it and bringing it up in every coaster-related conversation.

See what we're saying?

Is Tekno agreeing with me now?

What was that noise...the flap of flying pig wings or the Four Horsemen's gallop?

I'm with Tekno on this one, again. Example- There's probably a great majority of you who think I'm an idiot. Yes, admit it.

Nevermind that I graduated from high school with honors, scored a 31 on my ACT, and qualified for a full-ride scholarship to University of Toledo. Also nevermind that I have a respected degree from an established school and am working for one of the top 100 employeers in Northern Ohio doing a job I feel is very important.

It doesn't matter what I have behind me. You think I'm an idiot (moron, asshole, retard, butt head, etc) because of what you see me do on these boards.

Nobody cares what you have behind you, because all we see is what you do here. What you do here doesn't speak very well of you.

That is all.

(By the way, I didn't read your PM.)

I'm sure someone cares whats...aw...nevermind!;)
Michael Darling:

I don't think you are an idiot and never said that. I just feel that you come across on this forum as someone not acceptive of others, and very argumentive. You comment on my grammar and insult my educational background without even knowing anything about me. Then you wonder why I reply and defend it. Try being nice on these forums and less attacking of others, it could not hurt.

Well to be honest, I think my post are the most well thought out and insightful post here. I am sure you don't agree but that is ok. I mention the Beast when it applies to a topic. How does it apply to Holiday Worlds new roller coaster the Voyage?

Well if I remember correctly, before it was announced there was speculation that the Voyage was going to be the longest wooden roller coaster. I just thought people might like to discuss whether they were happy that it was not. Also I brought up interesting discussion points on perhaps why a park as not broken the length record for a wood coaster. It just seems like the tallest and fastest coasters, is a record that changes every couple of years.

I doubt you have read all my posts, but not all of them are about the Beast. I posted a trip report on IB and will post one soon on SFGAM when I get aroudn to it. I also posted on what new coaster around Louisville Shaggy was hinting at.

Yeah some post are about the Beast, and the username I post under is Beast Fan. I am a big fan of the ride and have sentimental value since it was teh coaster that got me hooked on roller coasters, and I spend 3 summers working at the Beast as a ride op. I really don't see the issue with that.

I have been to holiday world once and had a great time. I loved Raven and Legend and plan to go back next year to ride Voyage. They are the perfect example of how to run a family owned theme park.

If you have a personal disagreement with me that is ok, but this is not the forum for it. If you disagree with what I have to say, then try to make an intelligent post and add something to the discussion.

Tekno Doesn't look silly cause Tekno doesn't get off on bullying. But that is another story. What Tekno is saying is that Beast Fan coulda just ignored in the first place. Hey, that sounds like sound advice... *** Edited 7/20/2005 5:11:40 AM UTC by TeknoScorpion***
I'm a Beast lover and was actually at Kings Island on Monday on my way home from KennyKon. I was telling my 18 year old sister that, still, after all these years nothing beats a night ride on the Beast. It makes a season pass worth buying. No, it doesn't pack the same punch that it used to, but while I was on that ride the people on my train, the people in the station and the people that were on the lift train were all cheering. As a matter of fact I still have a bruise under my right arm pit from were I had my hands up the whole time and was knocked about a bit:)

Just curious as to whether the Villain ranks up there on anyones list. I love that coaster, but noone else seems to rank it very high.

Actually, the most interesting thing about this whole exchange is that Paula has a son old enough to be in college. What, did you start having kids at twelve? ;)

As for this aside trying to see whose "head" is bigger, I dont care hope smart you all are, you all sound like you're on crack.

lata, jeremy

--who really did think Paula was much younger than that...

beast fan, don't pay any attention to these geeks, most of them are probably kids on summer vacation and living with mommy. the people on this website are very stuck-up and cliquish. as far as i'm concerned, the're all juniors as far as coasters are concerned. when you've been on over 400 coasters and many of them defunct, then you can talk to me.
