I do enjoy some SDL myself, but I definitely prefer Storm Runner...and Great Bear...and Lightning Racer.

Reference to the deepest, inhospitable jungle can mean only one thing-- they're rebuilding Lost River!!!

Looper is my favorite ride at the park. I've had many a mini-marathons at the end of the day on that gem.

SDL was my first looping coaster. I remember riding it with 3-train operation, and waiting almost 3 hours to ride once the year it opened. I always ride it when I am there.

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

I found the rumor on a few sites. The rumor was that either SooperDooperLooper or Comet may have to be removed in order to make room for the new coaster. We pretty much know the new ride's layout so I think SDL is probably safe.

I'd be much more sad if Hersheypark removed the Coal Cracker log flume ride.

There aren't enough custom Schwarzkopfs as it is! No B&M would be worth its removal...

I'd be very upset if SDL got removed. It is also my favorite steel coaster at the park. It may not be the tallest or fastest ride around but it's just an overall fun coaster. With Laser sold, and no other Schwarzkopf's around I really look forward to being able to ride SDL when I usually get to Hershey once a year.

Sooperdooperlooper isn't being removed. They just redone the drop on the Coal Cracker last season and that isn't going away either. The new coaster will only displace the tilt and whirl and that is rumored to be moving to Midway America by the Wildcat. We'll see as it unfolds. It wouldn't be the park's 12th coaster if they removed one.

SDL is a classic as people had said, and the park knows that it's a great family ride. I remember the 3 train operation, and the full queue it's first several years of operation. I believe it was like that into the early to mid 80's.

^Not surprising considering that, other than the kiddie Mini Comet, only 3 coasters existed at Hershey between 1977 and 1996.

Better than a dumb ass ;)

I always let parks know how much I love their old coasters - SooperDooperLooper, Whizzer, Mind Bender - especially those steel rides that seem to have lived passed their initial life expectancy of 30 years. Even if a ride gets removed (Big Bad Wolf), I feel it's important to let them know if you really like something - in a very nice complimentary way of course. That kind of support has saved Whizzer at my home park - really the main reason I still go to that park.

Ass intelligence can be improved by the increased digestion of bran. I recommend in 'muffin' form, for ease of consumption...

I don't get the latest RIT study, and the clues. 212 is the approved height of the coaster, and that's about the only thing I picked up on. I know there is some better detectives on here than me. :)

On another note, rode the comet Sunday, and it almost looks like the coasters first hill may drop into a tunnel in the lake bed. They could easily get a 230 - 240 foot first drop that way.

I'm not going to follow the hype anymore. It's a waste of time, considering I can just read about it here an on other coaster websites.

And a tunnel into the lake bed WOULD be sweet! A 240 drop would be sweet too! I wish they would just announce this already. lol

Hmmm, the only number other than 212 in the document is -196.

196 foot drop from 212 feet up?

And there's most likely something to the choice of putting 'high degree' right next to 'Fahrenheit' - possibly referring to the drop.

212 feet tall with a 196 foot vertical drop?

I still think these kinds of marketing campaigns are stupid.
