Another Hersheypark story on local NBC news

As long as it gets people talking, even to say it's stupid, you have to admit it's served its purpose.

So any theories on the blocks with the letters of the alphabet shown in reverse with numbers below them? It appears in the second study. Red herring? Or meaningful clue? Also, the -196 mentioned is in degrees. What else could degrees refer to that would make sense in this context?

Maybe. But I'm not sure very many people are talking who wouldn't be otherwise. It's a distraction for the community, but how much real-world, useful press covcerage/publicity does something like this really net them? A story or two about the cute game leading up to the real announcement.

Then again, it's not like these things take a lot of time or resources so any payoff is probably a net gain.

This is also probably a whole lot more attention within the target audience than the ride would have gotten with a vanilla announcement. 7 pages of CoasterBuzz conversation is pretty decent.

I'm sure the real announcement will get more than seven pages of discussion.

Wow, I must be getting jaded: i thought that said "seven pages of disappointment" lol

Seriously though, I'm excited for this!

Sadly, after all this build up, that might not be far from the truth.

^Actually, I almost typed disappointment instead, but I'm trying to be optimistic. ;)

I don't think Cheetah Hunt has generated 7 pages of discussion and that's a ride I'm really looking forward to.

8 pages and counting. And that's just one thread. ;)

And if you remove all the posts where I'm just chiming in to say this is stupid, then this thread is probably really only 5 or 6 pages. ;)

I think the letters and numbers look like a code breaking system to me.... is there a series of numbers presented somewhere that can be converted into text?

And when I think of -196 degrees, I think of it as being equal to 164 degrees.... maybe an extreme over bank? Or a Stengel dive?

Maybe something like this:

mmmmk Children, look for the drop. Good or not, crazy, lame, and OTSRs still suck - whatever way you look at it - that thing looks crazy (probably deserves its own thread).

Billy

I didn't get the latest update on the ride institute site. Anyone?

I keep just checking this thread to tell me what's going on. Maybe some day soon, someone will tell me what the ride will be and I don't have to play their stupid game. HA!

When did they say they were going to announce this thing? August? Or was that just speculation?

I'm getting intrigued by everything that is beign said here... but I agree, I'll be darned if I am going "to play their stupid game."

A couple park trips planned with the extended family (me and my wife, her sister and her husband and our two neices, and our sister in law and our other two neices) to Hershey, Kings Dominion and Knoebels (and maybe Dorney) this summer. I'll just enjoy the parks and coasters (and seeing some of our neices first rides on coasters) and wait for this Hershey 2012 announcement when it comes.

Footers being poured. Let the speculation begin. Look like Intamin footers to me. ;)

LostKause's avatar

I can't really say that bull dossers and footers are interesting unless someone can figure out, and tell us, what the heck the park is building from looking at the photos. :)

I can: a roller coaster.
