If anyone is interested, blue Intamin supports are now on site at Hersheypark. The layout has been known for quite some time, so now just the little details need to get filled in.
Is there any of these mega lites in the US? I think they look great and would love Hershey to get one.
Hopefully the trains will be longer than a regular Mega Lite train. The last thing Hershey needs is another low capacity coaster. I was really hoping it would be a B&M hyper.
Uck to a mega lite? They get really great reviews. I'd love to see one in the us.
^So does I-305, just not my thing. The restraints are uncomfortable, etc.,. Talk to someone who has ridden Blue Fire - that is supposed to be all around a kick butt great ride.

Intamin supports similar to I305 on site in a blue color. I was hoping for an Intamin all along, so I'm happy. Just hoping that they install similar restraints to Intimidator on the trains.
This is the earliest that supports have been on site at the park that I can remember. When I took pictures of Storm Runner construction the park had gotten the supports on site in August the season before opening. They could have a good part of the coaster assembled before the end of the season.
With parts on site I'd imagine that an announcement should be coming soon.
The mega-lite standard model looks (and has been reviewed as being) awesome. If it's low to the ground going back and forth like I-305, I'm not all that excited.
As Jeff said, the problem with enthusiasts is that we're airtime whores.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I prefer to think of myself as an airtime floozy.
Now THERE'S a word I ain't heard..or seen..in a while.
The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

Other people dig up old threads. I resurrect the English language. ;)

^ Ok airtime floozy! You must have the kids watching you type! ;) I love airtime and I don't think this coaster will disappoint! I thought I was lucky having Storm Runner and the woodies 20 minutes from home. Now it should be even better.

Story in the Patriot News yesterday regarding project 2012, future park expansion, and expanding the monorail track. Sounds like it could be a while, but the additional land is needed to keep expanding.
That footprint has the potential for tons of airtime hills. Time will tell. Wether or not I enjoy this will ultimately come down to the restraints they use. I'm sure the layout will be fun enough. Just hope they don't ruin it with uncomfortable restraints.

Long live the Big Bad Wolf
IF the latest article is true and if a chance at a good size land acquisition is in the future, part of me wishes that this new coaster would be held off for a few years... I would hate to see them go "short" with it because of the current land situation just go put it in quick.... kind of like they did with Boardwalk.
