The noise is just an excuse for the city to screw with them some more.its highway at the back a school on one side .on the side with a nieghborhood the noise is slim to none. hopefully nightmare will be open in october. I cant wait to ride it again.

Having met both the operators, Mike and Robert, during my brief visit to Joyland this summer, I have to say they are both very cordial people. It's a shame the city is treating them this way. I can understand complaints about loud noise, but the city police should handle this differently. These guys are not thugs.

What is the hold-up on the coaster? It was supposed to re-open months ago. Do they need more funding for further refurbishment or do they need more manual labor to get it done? Anyone?

Hey Matt... :)

From that ^link^ chris1970 posted...
"Although attendance at Joyland has grown since May, Moodenbaugh's group has fought with the park's owners, failed to get insurance company approval to operate the park's famous roller coaster and irritated neighbors."

The next inspection is at the end of this month(22nd I think). I guess its just a matter of insurance company buyoff as all the work looks complete.

You may have to wait even longer. I have my doubts that Michael will reopen Joyland since I heard the other day that he was buying a park in Tennesee. He can barely run Joyland. I don't know how he'll be able to run two parks. He was also trying to buy Santa's Village in Chicago.

Joyland will reopen.Ill be buying my season passes and gift certificates next week.I think Michael did a great job of running Joyland considering all the problems he encountered. The most important thing is that a classic coaster is being saved. I cant wait to ride!

Coaster ride at the end of next month? Care to expand on this? Has it passed inspection?

If they're opening it up then I'll be down there on the first train with you.

Wow

Are you heading to the park this weekend? I would really like to know for sure if the coaster and wacky shack are open before I make the 3 hour drive down there.
