Joyland Wichita Status?

Its still closed ,I think it depends on the financing. Not sure if the coaster is done but whacky shack is in working order.
With all the difficulties they could use some support. Please read this and call the city.

Thanks

HELP SUPPORT JOYLANDIf there is enough public outcry maybe the city will begin to work with Joyland.Did you know that :

  • The city has a permanent injunction on any outdoor entertainment. This includes Louie who has played the parks Wurlitzer style 160 organ since 1950 !
  • The city promised to promote the park on all city media websites, help with city signs and tourism promotions.
  • They were not allowed to place a sign near the highway.
  • Jim Sketon doesn't have an open door policy. When called everyday for three weeks he never returned a call.

The city seems dedicated to seeing Joyland fail at every turn. From not allowing entertainment or advertising to outright not communicating with them.
Please call the city and ask them WHY?Why can't they have any outdoor entertainment? Why won't they communicate? Why do they wan't Joyland to Fail? Please contact the mayor and city council :Carlos Mayans-phone: 316-268-4331

It's enough to make one wonder if the local politicians are somehow in cahoots with the developers of Wild West World. I wonder if these same rules will apply to WWW as well.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
they might be but im sure the rules wont apply to WWW as its in park city. Its probably more of a mayans / cornejo / allstar sports type thing, and city corruption and stupidity.
By the way, what's the status of the Schwarzkopf at All Star? Sad seeing it rust out in the field last summer.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
Ill have to look if I go by there. I wasnt aware of another coaster besides the small dragon coaster. Is this it http://www.allstarwichita.com/adventures/dragoncoaster/index.html
No Chris, the one I am referring to is this one:

City Jet

Last July it was sitting in pieces in the field behind the back go-kart track.

Yup, it's kind of a shame though, but it's not like Joyland needed the added competition. Like I said in the article though, wouldn't this be great for Joyland at only $140,000? It's a sum of money, but they could do it, and it would easily pay off if the ride didn't take too much work to fix it up.

Fate was a poorly chosen word. Your right Joyland didnt need the added competition. I sent them the link hopefully they could swing something like that , even with all the difficulties. That would make an awesome second coaster. Heres a link to a support joyland website I made

Just finished with my 3rd and hopefully final update to the support Joyland website. needed more bandwidth. The response has been awesome. Please check out the new website and send to anyone in the Wichita area.

Another bad turn for Joyland. I stopped by the park today and the locks were changed and this wa son the fence. I couldnt figure out how to post a pic or I would have included the original. not sure how this happened , last time I talked with Michael they were paid ahead on the rent.

This should make things more clear. I think they will be back this isnt the first time they have been kicked out of the park.

Ah, why set fire to the Wacky Shack? Thugs are losers, but it's great to hear that the park's management has been good about getting rid of them up until now. Damn, the Wacky Shack is a classic, hope it's fixable.

Any idea of the Nelson's game plan? What are they planning to do with the place now that they took it back?

www.sdcfans.com
I dont know what the Nelsons plans are but htis line from the eagle article bothers me :workers for the Nelsons were packing rides in preparation for taking them to storage. If they are moving the rides I wonder who has there eye on the land, anyone know? Keep up the support as this now looks like save Joyland instead of support it. www.explorer7004.com
I still haven't gotten a chance to get over there, its been raining and cold all day. Hopefully the weather will clear up soon, so I can get some pictures of the park being put into storage. I really wonder if the Nelsons could handle opening it back up, just like the good times.
It would be good to see the park open again but it seems like things will be tied up in court for awhile.I wouldnt expect an opening this year.
You have a PM.
Were Joyland's rides packed up at the end of the operating seasons back when the park was in regular operations? If so, I wouldn't be too worried, but if they are actually moving them wholly off the property, then maybe they are planning to clear the area off and re-zone it. Pessimistic thinking, I know, but I don't see what the Nelsons could be thinking at this point; I'm afraid they might have given up.
