Amazing pictures, and the video you pointed out is excellent.

There is going to be a scary amount of people listing this as their #1 in this rides first few opening days.

Agreed with Matt, and we all can agree that the first one to say it will be Paul Reuben.

Just when that "opening day" is, is anyones guess.

No, Paul already has claimed it as number one....right after he said the same thing about Voyage, Rumbler, Tatsu, etc.... ;)

I think ET is also setting a new record for world's most slowly built woodie. What is up with how long this coaster is taking to construct? At this rate it will be new for '07. I mean it's plug and play right...isn't that supposed to take less time to build - not more?

That drop does look mmm mmm good though.

Matt, STOP questioning the credibility of St. Paul! You're going to go to "enthusiast purgatory" young man! ;)

Seriously, though, for me this season is about Voyage, Rumbler, and Toro...I honestly don't care much at all about ANY of the new steel (and yes, that includes the new #1 steel coaster, Tatsu)... :)

edit: thrillerman1, the reason Toro is taking a long time to build is because the cranes need to move AROUND the existing structure of Rotting Timber...plus they'd really like to END the project with the cranes OUTSIDE of the structure, so as not to paint themselves into a corner...so to speak... ;)

Oh, and the P-n-P part has to do with how the running plate attaches to the structures, it's really only *replacing* the 2x6 ledger boards, so time savings is virtually non-existent...

Hope that helps! :) *** Edited 3/28/2006 9:03:12 PM UTC by rollergator***

Oh stewardess, I speak Gator....

Most of a PnP woodie is still built by hand one board at a time. Just the track is plug 'n play. And what Billagator said about painting thyself into a corner needs no explanation methinks. :)

They could have got this done earlier if they tried hard enough. Viper was sitting there all season when they could have been prepping the site.On top of that the east coast has had a pretty nice winter.

Work 2 hrs take a break work 2 hrs take a lunch and so on....

Plus its one guy working and 4 guys watching.

Does runaway train look repainted ? Or is it just wishful thinking? *** Edited 3/28/2006 10:51:12 PM UTC by BG Nut***

I'll start caring about El Toro & Tatsu when I'm on my way to their parks. This year, it all about the Voyage, and Kentucky Rumbler. Tatsu looks like fun to me, but even after seeing El Toro's video it still looks boring beyond the first drop.

Dang, All the squeeking and screechin in that video. It already sounds like Rolling Thunder. And it isn't even open yet :)

J/k.

I hope it's a great ride. It should be. I still wonder why it isn't further along than it is.

The day I think a ride like El Toro looks boring is the day that I, personally, find a new hobby.

They don't build as many woodies as they used to, but it seems like the quality has gone way up. El Torro looks amazing and would be the talk of the off season if Will did not pick this year to play rollercoaster tycoon. But seriously look at the new woodies over the past few years: Voyage, Rumbler, El Toro, Hades, Avalanche, JR2, and Thunderhead. Has the bar for woodies really been raised that high or are we just getting lucky?
