SFoG Goliath Construction Update

Six Flags over Georgia has posted several new shots of the construction of Goliath including the first bit of verticle construction, the brake run. Also, take a look at the snazzy new logo for this version of Goliath. Looks very futuristic to me...

Things are moving quicker than I had anticipated. I guess I'll have to get some photos of my own on Friday.

The ties could get painted- maybe they are painted after the braking systems are installed? Either that or just the ties on the brake run are going to be left grey.

Actually, the computer rendering does show that the entire ride has grey rails and ties.

I think that color is supposed to be more of a silvery color, although it does look gray in certain lighting conditions.

Looks like they've put up the transfer track for a total of 2 track segemnts and more of the structure for the storage shed.

Nope, those rails were definitely intentionally painted grey. That's not an unpainted silver like on Montu or Raging Bull. That's a good solid grey paint on the ties and rails. No ride parts are shipped to the park with only the spine painted, Rob. That's how the ride is going to look like.

I really hope they paint the ties. It would look much better.

If I'm not mistaken, some B&M's have messed up paint on their brake runs.

Is Nitro or Appolo going to still be better, or you think goliath will smash them?

Regardless of the videos, the stats, the layout, and everything we DO know about Goliath....there is NO way anyone (well, no one here at least) can truly predict the outcome.

Of course, I've gotten *next-to-nothing* from any of the 3 US Beemer hypers, save for that one glorious EVENT night where AC was running like CRAZY...Nitro and Bull combined never gave me anything like that, not on any visits...not that some "easing up" on the brakes wouldn't HELP...

The worst rides on any of the Intamin S:RoSes are comparable to the best rides on the B&M's.

As far as Goliath goes, no MCBR, looks like a winner to me.

'Tuan, I've ridden Nitro daytime, nighttime, front, back, even the "coveted" back-right....

It HAS good floater...if you're into floater....but I crave EJECTION air. I'd have waited for Batman Chilla instead on my visit this year....alas, neither side of Chilla opened at all. Meant to go back Columbus Day, but the weather from PPP left me too sick to go to the park.

The lack of a MCBR does give me reason to hope for Goliath, I know if Nitro didn't have one those last few hills SHOULD have something nice to offer.

bill, agrees with Andy - one hill on a RoS has more air than an entire ride from B&M...and I still blame the trains to a large degree...

I'm with Bill on that one. The enormous length of the S:RoS trains (2 across vs. 4 across) means the front and back rows of an S:RoS train are a lot more extreme compared to a B&M train. That said, the middle of an S:RoS is still better than the middle of a B&M. ;) :P

(And yes, I've ridden Nitro in all conditions at all times of year and day.)

So, Goliath holds promise.

Nitro being Joe's #1 overall having ridden over 500 coasters only speaks to the gelastic puckle of drugs he must consume on an hourly basis.

After getting the third U.S. B&M Hyper credit this summer, I find all three to be just a bit on the 'meh' side, but if I had to choose amongst the three - oddly enough, I'd pick Raging Bull.

I don't get the whole Nitro sucks, but Apollo's is great conversation. They are both so similar. I prefer Nitro BTW, but think Appolo's is pretty fun too. Raging Bull is my least favorite of the three, that trim brake on the third hill slows down the ride far too much for my liking.
