I have absolutely NO doubt in my mind that SFA and Cedar Point are building something big. But, like I have said time and time again, IT WILL NOT BE AS BIG AS EVERYONE IS ASSUMING. I can almost guarantee that this ride at CP will be a spitting image of Xcelerator at Knott's. And this SFA thing...??? It sounds good and we all hope it will be good, but getting over-excited will only dissapoint us in the long run. Let's just wait it out and see!

Thank you IOAHulk and sfabatwingfan for being decent people who are open-minded enough to consider the opinions of others. I agree that both SFA and CP are getting coasters and that CP isn't getting a 400 foot ride. Is that an offensive thing to say?

Containers full of toilets, sinks, and urinals? Maybe we are going to finally get the restrooms by Barwing and SROS.

It sounds like I'm confused in one respect. I thought that the containers referred to were the ones that have been there for some time. Apparently, some new containers have arrived. I have no idea what is in any new containers. The old containers definately contained game prizes.

A height variance would only be required for a ride over 200 feet tall. None of the rumoured additions would be likely to be over 200 feet tall. A building permit would be required from the county for any new ride.

Yes, I think I do know what is coming next at SFA (50% probability)

Who the hell said that? Just back up what you said, or don't say anything at all.

I think a standup is more likely than some people are letting on. Does anyone remember the article back in, say '99 or so that had the park's 10 year plan of coasters(which I think was bumped to 7 years or some jazz). But if i'm not nuts(and thats a very real possibility), I seem to remember a standup coaster on the list. And I'm drawing a blank as to who but B&M would make one now. Anyhoo, this could all be moot if the standup coaster in the plan was preempted by Batwing.

I work at SFA and can tell you from first hand experience that those containers have no ride parts in them. They are merely a cost cutting move by the food and retail warehouse. The company who used to rent containers to us raised their prices and by switching companies it saved the park thousands. What a shame...i was hoping it was a B+M too. :(

hey Baritone, I'm hearing an echo....how's about stepping back from the mic and deleting two of those....j/k.....

Anyhow, if it will be called Poison Ivy - which sounds exceptionally believable...Two-Face, Batwing, now a badly needed family (ok, kiddie) coaster...."Poison Ivy", you know what other SF coaster bears that name....hmmm, .seems alot of parks are beefing up their lineup of coasters for the whole family.....(don't the Beemer hypers also qualify as "family rides"...LOL)......but I think that would be a cool addition for the park....even if it does annoy some of the thrillseekers in the short-term, what's best for the park ends up being good for everyone.....

SFA is almost primarily a Vekoma park. Therefore, I see it very unlikely that it will be getting something from B&M.

If I recall correctly, SFA was supposed to get a four-inversion B&M standup coaster for the 2001 season until they decided to go with a Vekoma flying coaster instead. I'm not sure if that is the truth or just fiction, but I know of more than one person who said it was really the case.

While I'm not sure if SFA will get a coaster or not next year, I would be more confident placing my money on latrine fixtures in those specific containers opposed to coaster parts!

FACT: Yes, SFA had on their master plan submitted to the PGCounty board intentions of adding a standup

FICTION: the coaster was to be a B&M. Truth was other than noting a location and type of ride, there was no information about the coaster e.g. # of inversions, height, theme etc.

FACT: Batwing replaced the standup coaster in a revised version of the master plan. Therefore, as it stands, there is no stand up coaster listed on the master plan.

Now this master plan was never meant as a concrete "set in stone" document. It is more of a rough outline and is fluid. Well see what happens.

There were dimensions given for the stand up,the coaster if built would've been 140 feet tall & 3,000 feet long so it would've been a B&M.

This ride was replaced by Batwing for the 2001 season but if you look on the masterplan there's an attraction listed just above as "attraction # 36 an undetermined attraction" the stand up could very well be moved to that number in the future, right now it can be anything from a flat ride to a coaster, who knows.

In a way I'm glad that at least according to one source in this thread that the containers may not be holding ride parts at all so maybe we'll see a coaster from B&M at the park next season,if so it's just a matter of time before we see track & supports arriving on site.

I've also heard on another board that indeed we may be seeing a family coaster in Gotham as well, only time will tell. =) but I've also heard that SFOT may be getting not 1 but 3 new rides in 03,if that happens then it looks like most of the budget will have been spent right there. =(

Agreed PT300!

I guess the kids are bored during their last week of summer vacation. Maybe when some people are back in the 4th grade we'll have fewer annoyances around here! :)

All in all....Who Knows? The only reason we had to speculate was because the same containers were showing up at Jazzland. However, that might be because the ride is used. Only time will tell and getting our hopes up now will not help anything.

Well put Scoaster,we shouldn't get our hopes up just yet only to be dissappointed if nothing happens, remember how it went last year when everyone spotted the land clearing over by Batwing & S:ROS and went gaga over it speculating that a new coaster was going there? but in the end it was nothing but sewer pipes that were placed there.

I've learned over the past year not to jump to conclusions so fast based on rumors & speculation, that type of thinking only leads to dissappointment.
