Track Pieces Seen at SFA

SFA rules - Pirates 4-D was what I was referring to, not Corkscrew Hill.

'Gator - LOL...well, they were new, just not open!

One other thing, if they make the annoncement early this year and construction goes well, maybe we'll see the new coaster opening at the start of the season.

They construct coasters really quickly

You would think they would have learned by now that doing this causes too many problems.

Happy Coastering!

Trust me,whatever's in the containers is not ride related, someone noticed workers unloading vending machines from one of them so that rules out anything ride related for 2003.

I was gonna go to SFA tomorrow but the weather forecast has forced me to change those plans :-( but I might try and go on labor day and see what I can find out,if not by then I'll certainly be going on october 5th.

If we are lucky and get a B&M then at least we know construction/testing will go smoothly and the coaster will open on time. :-)

Sean,

I just meant the contruction goes quickly. Superman was down due to chain breaks, which I bet was due to the chain itself and not bad contruction. Batwing is a Vekoma flying dutchman... need I say more? If a B&M showed up I bet it would also be contructed very quickly, and it would run reliably too.

Like I said earlier the PG county planning board is currently in recess so we won't know anything until at least september.

Those containers could hold just about anything and maybe we'll be seeing track arriving some time in late october,it is after all still only late august.

I was there back on the 10th and I didn't see these containers at all so they've gotta be new and plus why would they recieve a shipment of "plushes" in 30 containers?my guess would be at the most maybe 2 or 3 containers max for plushes.

SFA is overdue for a new ride because the novelty of Batwing can't last forever and it's already going down, that and SF has said they'd be focusing their expenditures on parks that performed well this year and from what I've read SFA has done real good with a 9% increase in attendance, that's higher than SFMM which only got up to a 6% increase in attendance thus far.

Only time will tell what SFA is getting but I'm sure we'll see something big in 03,that's my prediction, there's no way SF will let SFA go 2 years in a row without getting something.

The novelty of Batiwng is waring away? At PGA, we still glamouring at Stealth because we have nothing better(with a dispute between Top Gun), and almost all are satisfied. SFA has all the best that we have at PGA plus many awsome coaster that we can only dream of having. If PGA had just one of SFA's excess(Joker's Jinx, Superman:Ride of Steel, Roar!, Wild One) we'd be set for probably another 5 years since we're be thrilled to get a quality coaster once in a long time. If I were you, I'd accept and thrill on the many scream machines SFA already has instead of saying we need more.

Vertigo - I'll agree with ya. I think SFA's coaster line-up is top notch. They have two excellent woodies, especially the severly underrated Wild One. With Batwing and a great Intamin hyper you have a better coaster selection [IMHO] than one of my home parks with almost twice the coasters, SFMM.

As for PGA...you're getting a new toy in 2003! Its not huge, but there's nothing else like it on the west coast, the others alredy running are getting rave reviews, and the GP is gonna eat it up.

...'moosh....but neither of those CA parks has any wood worth mentioning whereas SFA really does have TWO....SFMM is just "SFGAdv West", with the addition of X and another crappy wooden POS....

I wish SFMM would give Colossus a little love and attention, at least while it can still be saved (unlike "the unnatural disaster")...

Back to SFA....really strong line-up, Roar is outstanding, Wild One solid (better with fewer brakes), and the steel is all-around very good with the AMAZING hyper.....what they really need to address is the same chain-wide issue of making their guests feel a little less like "intruders"....

Wow, you guys are making me glad I added SFA into my plans for PPP.

chris - check Dutch Wonderland's hours, too. If they're open its entirely possible to hit DW in the morning and finish the day at SFA, where crowds should be very manageable. Its what we did last year and it was really great to spend a few hours at the Wonderland. Sky Princess is really fun. In the last 6 or so hours at SFA we had plenty of time to hit all the coasters and repeat the ones we liked many times over.

One more thing to keep in mind, tho: PPP Hangover Day. Since the day after PPP is the last operating day of the season for Knoebels, many enthusiasts hang around to enjoy a VERY lazy day with light crowds. Cool, crisp fall air, great rides, great friends, a few games of Fascination...you can't beat it.

There's a wonderful yet meloncholic moment at the end of the day when everyone takes their last rides on Phoenix then gathers in in front of the coaster while the nearby carousel calliope is turned off. Suddenly the entire park is silent...you can hear the wind thru the trees as leaves float to the ground. Everyone hugs and says goodbye, and the coaster season is over.

Man...I wish I wasn't missing PPP this year ;-(

Moosh, sad

That's pretty close to what I've got planned, but I'm substituting Dorney for DW.

No gator, no Mamoosh.. Do you guys have lives or something? ;)

Cheer up, the season is far from over, and you get to ride year round anyway. :)

chris - I sent you an email, but I'll make one comment here: I'd gladly trade year 'round riding at the LA parks for season riding at the east coast parks IN A HEARTBEAT!

Someday....

Yeah, I personally can't wait to see if it's as vibrational as the other two out there now! How does Vekoma do that?

Blasphemy!!! Take him to the dungeons and release the vat of South American ants

Hey I was just at SFA today and while talking with a ride op over at mind eraser he did mention something about a poison ivy themed coaster being added in 03.

We'll find out sooner or later what we're getting but we're getting something, you can count on that.

I hope it isn't anything like poison I'vy Twisted Train:)

Like they really need another ride...how about poor lonely neglected SFAW? The sad thing is that I don't see enough room in the park for a new ride without replacing one (if anything went, I'd want it to be Batman the Escape!). Removing Ultra Twister would be an option for an impulse, which would be a nice addition to the park, due to Ultra Twister's long straight design, but once again, I doubt it as it is one of a kind. If anything goes into SFAW at all in 2003, it will undoubtedly be a shrimpy coaster. A family coaster would just make me puke though.
