Well its true, just ask crazy horse, he was with me when we rode it. I saw his bloody knees and he had to carry me off the platform because I could not move my back. That ride hurt me that much.
how could that be????????????????
Seriously, do you think it was a good investment? Why?
As I've stated before, I don't HATE Sonnie. But it's definately in the bottom 50% of the woodies I've ridden. But I do truly believe that the money spent on it, and the continual rehabs that occur every offseason, was, in retrospect, a poor decision. They went for the huge hit and missed, just like the Deja Vus to a lesser degree.
Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger
seeing how my home park is PKI I would agree taht SOB is a rough wooden... but I still ride it and I still enjoy it as long as I am not in the back multiple times

How did it improve the park's future performance? The park's attendance hasn't improved over the past few years has it?Go ahead smartass, get me
It did increase the parks value at least, and you can't base that just yet, its still a great park, it wouldn't be much of a park if those coasters hadn't given Geauga Lake (six flags at the time) some air time on TLC (BNF) was aired on "Best coasters" plus the parkl has a great future *looks into crystal ball* You might as well join Beast Tamer who dislikes all the best coasters! ;)
This award definitely should go to the south american coaster that was built with no electrical system.
Steel Dragon 2000 at Nagashima Spa Land - a multi-million-dollar record breaking coaster SBNO. It's just sad.
Pteranodon Flyers at Universal Islands of Adventure - Lack of capacity on this coaster has caused Universal no end of grief. Too many children and their parents go through hideously long waits for a mediocre ride. It's a shame so many people have such a bad experience at an otherwise great park.
Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon at the Great Escape - Six Flags paid to move this coaster 4 times. For what? It has a capacity of less than 200 riders per hour, and it's definitely no Space Mountain.
I hear that ride sucked majorly. (just ask Nate K. :))

i'm not sure what to put here..
I don't remember much about the ride other than everyone complaining how the ride was always broken down. Did anyone here ever get to actually ride the ride, and was it good?
However, I don't know if that's the WORST investment ever. At the very least, in its defense, it was a prototype coaster and paved the way for other suspended rollercoasters
No, the worst was putting even more money into it, as you mentioned. What an eyesore that thing is. If Dick Kinzel really wants to go out with a bang, then tear that damn thing down and put something special there!

I think the worst is still Cedar Point's Avalanche Run.

(seriously, CBaby and Da Midget LOVED it at 5)
NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.
Rebuild the CP Cyclone!

The sad thing is, my 9 year old niece loves DT and will stand in line hours to ride it. But, if it leaves, I'm sure she'll find another fave. And as Jeff says, "something special," no place I'd rather see than a boardwalk style woodie, right on the lake. Similar to Thunderhead, continuing the lashing cries of "The most twisted wooden coaster on the planet." *** Edited 4/13/2005 3:15:20 PM UTC by Woody***

How many operating coasters don't increase the parks value? I dont know if we are talking about the same park, but I didnt go last year, so it may be a great park now. Then again, if its so good, why did it fail to draw 1 million last year? Just a few questions, and again, the coasters individually were ok, just the lump investment was bad. Maybe if they spaced them out over a 5 year period they could have built up better...
I can agree with the "upgrade" to Disaster Trnasport. I would rather have a bobsled coaster outside than in that building. 'Playa was dead on in his analysis.

I personally think that Hypersonic (and I've yet to ride, so I don't hate it or anything) wasn't the best investment in the park because it had bad reliability and had to have major work done to the trains, and it's capacity sucks.
Hypersonic gets my vote. The ride has gotten brand new seats three times, new trains twice, major track & break overhauls, an outrageous maintainance budget, and to top it off low capacity because they can only run two trains at once, not four, and they wasted money on a dual station for nothing. Wow.
I heard that some parts of the ride needs new cement every night, but that's just a rumor.
