Worst coaster investments?

Ride of Steel's avatar
I was wondering what everyone thinks the worst coaster investments have been.

I think Dorney Park putting Hydra in was a bad move because they just put in Talon, and it's not THAT much different of a ride. I mean one is floorless and one is inverted. Can't we have one inverted and one launched?

Another bad choice I think was Scream because it doesn't look like it stacks up to the other coasters at SFMM and sure it's looks like a good ride, it was just a way to put Six Flags even more into debt and I doubt it helped there attendance. I mean SFMM has 16 coasters so obviously it's the park with the best coasters. But there aren't many parks around that area they are competeting with so why not focus on things like guest services and 2 train operation which is what smaller parks like KBF are thriving on?

Any ideas?

SFMM X What a nightmare that has been for them.
Well I don't really agree with Hydra and Talon. I think after 4 years, thats a good time to put another coaster in. But thats just me..:)

i'm not sure what to put here..

Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. They must have lost money on that thing.

I don't want to get off topic with this thread, but X at SFMM is an amazing ride!! I loved it. SFMM is not my "home" park, so correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't they worked out most of the bugs??

Scream, X - Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Okay, fine, Six Flags Magic Mountain PERIOD. A perfectly good waste of good amusement park land potential!

Is that based on your significant lap count on Hydra or your crystal ball's ridership stats?

Even though i am a fan boy of pki, i will say IJST. All it has going for it is effects and since it is outside it will deteriate very quickly.

Beat Tamer, or is it Millenium Force that you so much think is the worst coaster investment! ;)
Beat Tamer eh?? Those vegitables must be pretty hard to tackle. I know they don't taste good but.

That was horrible I know :)

Of course he can...but how valid is an opinion based on a lack of experience? Don't you think it would be a good idea to have ridden the ride before making a statement like that? And shouldn't ANYONE who states an opinion be prepared to be faced with an opposing opinion?

I don't know a thing about designing or programming a website...how valid would my opinion be on the best program to use? I'll tell you: diddly squat.

THIS IS exactally what I am talking about

Glad I could provide you with such a wonderful example ;)

I think the worst is still Cedar Point's Avalanche Run. It opened in 1985 and was a neat but not great coaster. Personally, I was disappointed to see how little it deviated from the wheel grooves. I thought it would be much more out-of-control.

In 1990, it was re-themed as Disaster Transport. (aka 12 E). Since then, it has had even more updates. They have even tried to make a little extra cash by selling 3-D glasses.

I wish they had knocked this monstrosity down when building MaXair. Then again, maybe this will happen in the next few years. I still dream of a lakeside boardwalk and woodie over there.

Futureman told me it's KingadaKaKa...and he DOES have a crystal ball. ;)

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Roadrunner Express, Villain, Batman Knight Flight, Superman Ultimate Escape. Not that they were neccessarily bad individually, but all in one year is a really bad investment.

Z-Force/Z-Force/Flashback. It sucked to begin with why relocate it and then have it SBNO for such a long time?
