I like the idea of an Intamin "Rocket Coaster", although I personally don't think 400 feet will be the height. It will be in the 300-400 foot range, IMHO. Also, instead of having an Xcelerator type-top hat, I suspect an inverted top hat over the lagoon (or as said before, what will be left of the lagoon.) Also there will probably be more track on Millennium Island, after hearing the complaints of Xcelerator's track length (or lack there of).

Don't expect it to be much longer than Xcelerator though, they aren't looking to build Millennium Force 2: The Launch.

Off topic-- Millennium Force isn't the steepest in the country. And if you count S:TE as a coaster (I do- just an impulse on top of track w/1 launch), MF isn't the tallest or fastest. But, you are right, there is only 1 coaster w/the name Millennium Force :)

I think a "Rocket Coaster" is a certain possibility, but I think most likely it will be some sort of family attraction AKA not a coaster...

A ride op told me, after a long conversation about rollercoasters, that they are putting up a new ride that will be about 100 feet taller than Millennium Force. She said they are building it so soon because they want to put up a big ride before the city puts up height restrictions.

I could see a 350-400ft Xcellerator as CP usually builds the biggest of whats best out there.

Speaking from experience as a former CP ride op, never, and I mean NEVER, take what they have to say about unannounced future attractions as having any basis in fact. Trust me, they know just as much as you do regarding what CP is getting next. Now, the Lemon Chill guy on the other hand . . ;)

If CP is going to go for the speed record they could easily build an Intamin Rocket that launches just over Dodonpa's speed, perhaps at 110MPH or so. But even so that would only require a tower of approx 380 feet [an object dropped from 377 feet will reach 100 MPH] assuming the park would want the train to maintain some speed going over that height.

I think that we may be on to something BIG. Really big... like a new world record in roller coaster height. The coded message was brief but right to the point: “Think Knott’s. Think Intamin. Think tallest ride in the park and think fast.” We were also told that we would have to wait until August in typical Cedar Point fashion for the official announcement, but it seems that Knott’s Xcelerator may just have been a baby sized test for what Cedar Point has in mind. Stay tuned!

Well, the tallest ride at Knotts is Supreme Scream, so does that mean Intamin is going to be installing a Turbo Drop at Cedar Point???? Oh, wait, CP already has S&S towers...oh poo. OH CRAP! That means that the SCREAMSCAPE rumor quoted above my post by steelraptor is...bumbumbum...a rumor!!! HAHAHA! I'm not a genius! MWAHAHA!

That rumor was in the context of CP. It meant...

"Think Knott's"--Xcelerator

"Think Intamin"--duh!

"Think tallest ride in the park"-- This is talking about Cedar Point, not Knott's. SO by this rumor, it will be taller than 330 feet becase Space Spiral is that tall, but I'm thinking much taller than that.

"Think Fast"--Well, if you want a launched ride to complete the circuit that high, it better be fast! :)

That rumor really doesn't help us out at all. Like I said, I believe Xcelerator was a large scaled guinea pig for bigger things to come.

I thought rumor threads were always closed. I wonder why this thread, about "the Point," is not closed like the other posts.
