What's CP building right now by Magnum?

I think people are grossly overstating the size of that area. It's really not that big.

And I still think it's for a slingshot. Two footers for the towers and one for the spring mechanism.

Everyone is always saying CP is running out of room... Well the removal of Dodgems has been a creative way that has obviously cleared out a huge space for something. I'm thinking it's a fairly large project they have planned for 2003, and to get it done in time they had to get the footers poored for the area that wouldn't be accesable for construction equipment during the season (when the other footers will be poored). I doubt much will happen in that space from now on out as it looks like those walls will be there for a while. Lets just hope for a terrain 4D, TA2K with signifigant vertical droppage, or a long sprawling B&M Flyer!

It could be a Fully Immersive Slingshot.

Jeff is right in that the area is not that big. That area used in combination with the Millennium Island could lead to something of substantial size though. Gotta wonder why they'd toss a slingshot inside the park though. Perhaps they think the land Vertigo rested on is cursed... :)

I was thinking about the possiblity of this whole up-charge thing. Maybe with the bad publicity of VertiGo they are going to go on good faith with this next ride and not charge people for it.

....But I don't think they would do this because it would have at least been planned 2 years ago, and added 2 rides that have much of the same aspects 2 years in a row doesn't make sense. I personally think it's a big project. Remember in 1999 when they moved the rail road tracks so they wouldn't have to mess with it later during the construction of HalloWeekends? This may be another thing of the same type. This is probably just the enthusiast side of me talking and not the rational side...I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It's funny Jeff, the first time I read anything about this, a Slingshot was the first thing I thought of too. Afterall, they did lose Vertigo, but they do have Power Tower. It's all a guessing game. Only time will tell.

I was thinking slingshot too, but doesn't CP generally put their pay per ride rides in Challenge Park?

Yes, but if you want people to totally forget any memory of Vertigo, why put a similar ride right where it stood? Of course, you want to move it somewhere else.

But ACTUALLY, Cedar Fair found a cheap and easy way to get you guys talking about Cedar Point again. Just put up a wall and some cement blocks, and Coasterbuzzers start speculating like crazy. It obviously works... look at you guys!

It's an up charge sling shot attraction.

Wouldn't they have more room to expand if they took out Magnum or Millennium Force, or both? They seem to take up lots of room. :)

It's either they are putting in something like a flat or sligshot. Or, they just want to get a huge head start on this next project. I like the second part the best but, im thinking its gonna be a flat or slingshot. Now if they do work over on the lagoon, then its definately gonna be something big.

Maybe they are just building a bridge over to the lagoon and they are gonna put crap over there, who knows.

I think it's a slingshot as well. All the "clues" point way. Parks usually don't add major rides during the season, but many parks have started construction for upcharge rides whith the season in progress.

I KNOW for a FACT it is not a Sling Shot, bungee rides are banned in Ohio. ;) Now a SPRING Shot from Fun Time Inc in Austrila is the most likely answer.

Bungee rides are not baned in Ohio unless it happened very recently. Now what did I do with that copy of the ORC section on amusement rides...

I can't lay my hands on it at the moment. But bungee attractions are explicitly addressed in the Ohio ride code, and certain procedures are banned, but bungee rides in general are permitted and covered by the ride regulations.
