Got a nice sunny and went out for more photos and again ran into Mr. Nelson. This time my batteries worked.... see the results here. May 19th has been announced as the ride opening day for the public.

1st train will be auctioned off for juvenile diabetes foundation and rides afterward will be $4.50 with $3.50 going to the charity. If you feel so inclined the article is on goerie.com *** Edited 3/22/2008 8:41:02 PM UTC by rsscbell***

I will be on a cruise for the opening, oh well. :)

I didn't realize the whole bridge was covered, interesting. Is it all netting?

rsscbell's avatar
It appears the entire bridge section will have this wire mesh screen, however I did not notice a catch screen undrneath for small items (coins.ect.) that can drop out.

To correct rsscbell, the coaster will open on both May 17th and 18th, but will not be included with Ride-a-Rama. Each ride will cost $4.50 on those two days, again with the $3.50 going to Juvenile Diabetes.

The ride will open to the public included with Ride-a-Rama on the 20th (as the 19th they are closed to the public [Monday]).

As for photos, the official gallery was updated too

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

Sometimes I need to step back from checking the construction so often. I'm getting too excited. This ride means so much for the Erie region. I'm still amazement that this is really the coaster that everyone in Erie has been talking about for over ten years. It's still kinda funny that the Ravine Flyer II, to us in Erie, is still just considered the roller coaster that is going across the road.

To add to my excitment, personally, I can't wait to actually wait in line at Waldameer. It's been far too long where I've watched ride operators wait for riders, or have I actually seen rides at Waldameer run at full capacity on a consistent basis.

AJ, too true. I can't remember a day where every ride had some sort of wait. I have a feeling this will change that a lot, with a lot of new visitors to the park this year.

Found a 1:15 video somebody made on the 28th and posted to Youtube yesterday. Not exactly high quality but some interesting perspectives on the how the ride looks.

FIND IT HERE.

Ok, is there a record for consecutive posts by the same user in the same thread? Anywho, A quick tour of pictures sites just revealed to me that Rsscbell has added 11 shots today to his RFII picture album.

Woops, didn't catch that, sorry. :).

But, with better news, trackwork is almost done, all the ride needs is the track steel in the station and on the very top of the turn around hill, everything else is done.

46 new photos added to the construction album.

Beat ya, ;).

Bidding for the first train out has begun. Bid here.

Either way I'm spending $50 1st ride or not.

$50 for the front seat? not bad. $4 for car 5? I'll take it!

Coaster Junkie from NH
I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

The way I'm looking at this train it looks as if whomever is bidding $250 for the front row seats is actually bidding on 1 seat in row A (1-1) and 1 in row B (1-2). Hope Waldameer clears this up before it gets out of hand and whomever is bidding doesn't end up disappointed they paid a huge price for a seat in the 2nd row.
If someone thinks that, they're an idiot, and deserve to pay for the seats they bid on...

My bid is for the ride-a-rama on the day I actually have time to ride it (early June). Also, with this bid, I can ride as many times as I want.
