The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

I'm still holding out for S&S/Arrow ;)

And Mamoosh, I'll get my stop watch ready, I'm sure it'll be sooner than that ;)

Yeah, I'd put money on 20 feet being pathway width.

Any coaster from S&S would chew up a disproportionate chunk of the $13.5 million, so I'm not counting on that.

But she said some of the numbers were for both projects...so perhaps 20 ft. is both a tunnel number and pathway number.

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Although it sounds ridiculous, I'll throw this out there. Could twenty feet wide mean the width of the lift hill? As in a racing/dueling woodie lift hill?

If 24.2 seconds means either the extent of airtime or the amount of time spend in a tunnel, I might just cry.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

No doubt, Rob. Especially when the announcement does not includes an airtime-filled 250 foot tall, 5,000+ foot Intamin Plug-n-Play wooden coaster with at least a 70* first drop.
I forget if this has been mentioned, but in case it hasn't...

A while back, Paula mentioned getting an email from a "friend at a New Jersey park" in the HoliBlog.

So, assuming this is SFGAd, and we know that SFGAd is getting a wooden coaster, I wonder if HW has been talking with them about the coaster?

I can just see it: "OK, so now you're going to break what records? How steep is that drop again? What's the length?"

OK, well maybe not! But you never know...

Don't assume SFGAdv just yet...remember, Clementon (also in NJ) got a record-breaking woodie for steepest drop in North America.

Anyway...what sort of bets are we taking on the coaster? I'll bet that this coaster will go underground. If it doesn't...

I'll proclaim my love of the New York Yankees...god i hate them! I'm a Philadelphia Phillies fan myself...have been ever since I was little. And I will never love the Yankees...that's how sure I am this new coaster will go underground. Anyone else willing to place bids/bets?

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

I think the more obvious choice for a park in NJ would be Clementon considering they recently installed a steel/woood hybrid by the name of J2, formerly Tsunami.

Well, I'll be disappointed if S&S/Arrow is not involved in the expansion. After all the recent high quality products they have unleashed to the public you know Holiday World ought to hop on the bandwagon, just like they did when everyone ran out and got themselves a shiny new Intamin lawn ornament.

Ohhh....

I'm excited about the annoucement, I'm sure some good wood is in the making :)

Rob - S&S does NOT have a good reputation in the industry when it comes to wooden coasters. Tsunami may have only cost Clemention $4m initially but they've spent MUCH more fixing the ride. There is a reason Denise was let go from the wood coaster division of S&S.

HW would be much wiser to go with either Gravity Group or GCI, should they indeed be building a third wooden coaster.

Is all of GG originally from CCI, and why doesn't Denise just go to GG and join some of her fellow team members?

Mamoosh should have I added a ;) to my post? Or maybe some sarcasm tags?

Last I checked, Hypersonic and Vertigo-Vertigoing-Vertigone were some pretty piss-poor products. I'm more than ready for Gravity Group coaster!

Holiday World with a 4d? Puh-leese!

You assume her fellow team members would want to work with her. Far be it for me to speak for them but considering what happened at CCI and S&S and her reputation in the industry I'd guess its a big fat NO!

Back on topic: t-minus 6 days and counting! ;)

66* is steep enough to break the USA's woodie steepness record. And for a traditional woodie it would the the world's steepest. Sounds like a ride slightly bigger than Boss maybe! Moosh I don't expect HW to build a 250' tall woodie with a 70* drop. That is SFGAD's job! :-) HW may end up build something similar to Hades I hope.

It is a FACT that The Voyage is the greatest thing on the planet!!
Now I am assuming that by nearly all she is referring to the fact they cannot give complete details till the projects are finished because you never know what Will might want to change.
66 degrees would be pneumonia cold, so I have to imagine this is a drop. You would tumble over yourself if it were a slide, it must be a coaster.
84 persons has got to be 3 trains of 7 cars and 4 people, now they either have to be building something massive or they never want this ride to have a line.
20 feet wide well I assume walkways but it could be a slide width/and ummm how wide are those frisbees, oh we can only pray!
60 years must be referring to there anniversary party, or of course how long they will be offering deep fried oreos.
By the way how exactly do we hang in there, or possibly hang ten without a surf machine?

I can't speak about whatever Clementon went through with S&S, I know they had *issues* with the State of NJ...

But with the *reports* from Avalanche (and to a lesser degree Falken), and my experience on Tsunami, engineering-wise, the S&S wood-coaster division shouldn't be closing up shop anytime too soon. Price-wise it seemed like S&S was in line with other manufacturers...

Then again, there's a new *crop* of woodies announced for '06 already, and NONE of them are coming from S&S....so....;)

Does anyone know what the "spike" reference means that was in the Holiblog a while back ago. The only thing I could come up with is a tophat, but that's a little crazy for a woodie.

Thank you for idenitying my mistake Paula. I thought I had become as dumb as a bag of rocks.

My mind is racing with ideas....no pun intended to refer to a racing coaster...I'm just saying that.

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

__________

OK - I am out of the loop. What is a Frisbee?

Life is an amusment park -and I can't get off of the damn spinning teacups!
The spike reference was to the picture of a spike right there...or so I assume. *** Edited 7/7/2005 9:53:04 PM UTC by RavenTTD***
