The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

she's such a trooper. :)
Jeremy T....the diameter of a ProSlide CannonBowl is 40 feet, so that makes the radius 20 feet, therefore a BehemothBowl is much much larger.

Is there a reference to '8' here somehow (as in '8 is enough')???

The inverted reference is possible....but...aren't B&Ms expensive????

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
"84 persons"
The amount of people they need to hire to run
the new area?
DRMAN2004, yes, but if Bamboo chute is converted into a CannonBOWL, (also changing the layout as to allow room for the new midway) it would only be able to hold 2-person tubes at the most- the same as the 20' diameter bowl of the CannonBOWL.

Wouldn't that make sense, because if you're going to spend money to change the Bamboo Chute, might as well go all the way and change it into something marketable.

Why get rid of Bamboo Chute when you can keep it and add even more capacity to the park with something new?

Negative-G Amusement Parks and Rollercoasters: www.Negative-G.com

Good point, you probably are right, but I imagine it would come down to money.

A whole new section would require a lot out of that 13.5 million, especially with all the themeing, layout, plumbing and electrical, roller coaster, etc. If the Bamboo Chute HAS to be changed, put into a smaller footprint to allow for the new midway (I don't think putting the Bamboo Chute over the entrance to the new section would be a very wise idea. Think of the possible leaks onto a busy midway, or the disruption of theming; then again, I'm not all that terribly familiar with the layout of that area) a Proslide CannonBOWL would be a good thing to change it into, both in reducing the amount of area it consumes and in increasing the marketablility of that particular attraction.

And who's to say that something like a ProSlide Rocket isn't also out of the option?

Jeremy T...I highly doubt that they will add a CannonBOWL or convert to one, because I think it would be hard to do, and ProSlide is actually having some trouble with their CannonBOWL installs they did this year, as they tried some new things, that didn't really seem to work out.

And the Rockets are expensive, that would be a big chunk of the money.

66 degrees is the average temperature underground year round.

Chuck

Chuck, I was thinking along those lines earlier, but was too lazy to think to look it up. Underground seems more and more of a reality...and remember the hint back in the "Diggin' Around" post on the Holiblog...she talks about the New Mexicans...how she said... "Guess they've heard it's cooler underground. Keep digging!"...just another indication with the above comment...we're going under! ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

See, That was my original guess all along, The lifthill would come up towards the Eagles Flight and the drop would go below the raised area between THE WAVE and the employee parking lot. The station would be hillside, Leaving all that raised area available for other things while the coaster flys under it. There are alread paths cut back in the woods so it will emerge back there, Do a few things and then turn around and blast back through the tunnel.

There were references to a big brown bird, Cooler underground and again 66* is the average temperature underground year round. I remember that from a cave tour years ago.

Big Brown Bird= Thanksgiving
Cooler underground and 66* and 24 seconds and air conditioned dark ride mention = Tunnel
20ft wide = Path widths
84 people = Staff

Maybe where your at, but here in Indiana (and most of the midwest is 52-55 F underground. Take it from a caver who spends most of his weekends underground, I know this for a fact.

ALSO, This is off topic a bit, but I was just watching the video to Splashin safari thats on Holiday Worlds website, I had a thought that accured to me when watching the part where it shows Zinga... It would have been a much scarier ride if you guys had left the top uncovered. Instead of a funnel, it should have been a half circle, just imagine that thrill of your tub coming within a foot of the rim of this huge bowl...

It's still a fun ride though...

Actually, Landon, that was the oiginal design (ProSlide). When we announced Zinga, our graphics showed the "half-pipe" look. Then ProSlide decided to make it a funnel.

We had the very first one, btw. And the first year, it didn't have a conveyor--we retrofitted one in '04.

I am so glad you added the conveyor! Those cloverleafs are huge! and were a pain in the a** to carry up!
MI Adventures does not have the lift (you would think CP could afford one!)
A ProSlide Rocket. Of course! Everybody knows that what the public really wants and needs is rockets! That guy on rec.roller-coaster said so! :)

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

If this is a two way tunnel, the 24.2 seconds could be total tunnel time both ways. It seems like too long for just one way.

As for the 20 feet wide, why does everyone think it is the path widths? I think the clues would be more about the attractions themselves, and I also think a path would be wider than that. My guess on that is still the tunnel width for the HW attraction and maybe a slide width for SS.

I was thinking that the 66 degrees might also refer to the temperature underground, but I thought while in Mammoth Cave they told us that the constant temperature was like 70-72 degrees.

Also, if the 24.2 seconds refers to the total time underground, it might not all be at once like RavenTTD mentioned. If it drops below ground level a few times and then pops above ground for some airtime, it would seem to be more similar to what a groundhog does when running from hole to hole...

Does anyone else think that there might be a record set for the number of simultaneous users on Coasterbuzz around the time of the annoucement?...because I do.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.
You know, this really could be coming together now.. Chuck, if you're right about the lift and underground section locations, this would resolve what I was so confused about before! With this theory the new coaster would not block future expansion(2x bigger) for Splashin Safari AND it would link the huge construction area that seemed so spread out. God I hope you're right. :)

Oh, and I can also vouch for the 52-55 degree underground temps here- I've been to Marengo and Wyandotte caves way too many times as a child.

Well Landen is right, Underground tems are about 54 degrees. So maybe it's the drop angle.

Chuck, who once again screwed up facts.

If I am starting to get to know Paula, the 66 degrees with the air conditioning statement could be a clue about both the cool tunnel and the drop angle. She seems to enjoy puns and double meanings and probably has the exact angle of decent as well as less specific info that the tunnel will just be "cool"...in more ways than one. Oh my, I think I was dangerously close to a pun there. :)
