The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

I know there will always be some, but I guess what he was trying to say is TGG is going wild again.
Just got the e-mail newsletter that HW sends out everynow and then. I am guessing that it comes from Paula. In talking about the announcement on July 13, she says that there will be a "big splash" on the web site that day. Hope that this in not a hint that the big announcement is a major new attraction for Splashing Safari.

Just a thought to see what others read into this.

I really don't know, but a woodie like most of you are talking about would probably cost over $5 million these days. Add to that all the infrastructure needed and an addition to safari...I don't see it.

My guess is the new ride will be a water ride shared between the water and rides park in the new themed area.

You mean like the Shoot the Chutes ride at [Worlds|Oceans] Of Fun? That's certainly a possibility. It would fit in nicely at Holiday World...and it would be simpler than the Kansas City installation because there's no issue of which riders belong in Holiday World and which ones belong in Splashin' Safari...unlike [W|O]OF, the two parks are not separately gated.

It's been stated that both the waterpark and the "main" park will both be getting something new, Kraven.

From the holiblog on 6/16,

2. The expansion will include both Holiday World and Splashin' Safari;

Yes, or a roller soaker?

Roller soakers, while fun, are also expensive. I'd say a shoot-the-chutes sounds more likely. And speaking of those: some of them have wooden support structures.
Paula, just a quick question. Is there anything about the expansion that even you don't know about? I don't know why I'm asking, but I would find it interesting that even you are guessing at some things to come.

Well...there's at least one piece of the puzzle that still needs a name.

And another ride (which I've mentioned before) that will be removed. It hasn't been decided yet if that particular ride will go in the new section, or if we'll buy a new version of that ride. And whichever way we go...I guess we'll need a new name.

So definitely not all the little specifics are finalized. But no, I'm not guessing at anything.

I also found "Moosh is Clueless" in Paula's post.

Thanks for the laugh, KtR!

Moosh has finally gone off the deep end.

Deep end? As opposed to shallow end? It must be a clue... :)

Is there such a thing as a "deep end" at Holiday World? That's sort of my #1 complaint about waterparks: they all make their pools so shallow that it's impossible to actually swim without banging your feet against the floor, and not possible to get into water up to one's neck. :(

Just more reasons to like the circa. 1984 waterpark at Wyandot Lake, which is about 8' deep. Pity there's very little else to like about that place...

Good point mamoosh, lots of shoots rides have wood supports.

How old is their log flume ride and where is the rapids ride in relation to this expansion?

Uh, heres the replacement ride for HW

Paula, You might have WIll check this out. Contact info is on the bid.

Oh, man ... I spend the afternoon in a meeting with yet another ride manufacturer, and look what you do?

Sigh! This is why I can't link to this thread from the HoliBlog.

Aren't you all ashamed of yourselves?

Since my "code word" post on the previous page is what started it I'm certianly willing to remove it if those who replied will remove their posts, too.
Sorry Paula! And yes we are ashamed of ourselves. But we haven't had any new info for a day or two and we just wondered off into (EDITED FOR PAULA). ((EDITED FOR PAULA), new themed section??? - somewhere other than HW of course.)

And Moosh, this thing went (EDITED FOR PAULA) long before your "code word" post. But yes, I am willing to (EDITED FOR PAULA).
