The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

I don't understand the whole "family" coaster thinking in this thread. Who here actually thinks Legend is a family coaster? Yes, you can bring your family to the park, sit your kids in the coaster train, and watch them leave the station, but that's where it ends, thank God. Holiday World will build something, and we'll all end up catagorizing it, and that's too bad, because they aren't in the business of catering to enthusiasts. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun, and probably quite thrilling.

I realize it seems to be our "job" to question, and comment about what they, amongst other parks, might build. Personally, though, I can't wait until they spill the secret so we'll stop talking about gravy, stew, and 300ft tall woodies.

Paul, There are definetly two clearings cut through the woods with a row of trees down the middle running behind the Wave and staked, That access road runs east west, These got north south..

They were staked in the middle, I couldn't really see it from down in the waterpark but from both the overlook to Ragin Rapids and the path to Good old days you can see them.

Chuck, Beyond the raised land :)

I'm wishing for a slighly larger version of Shivering Timbers with a drop like Hades only a little bigger and a little steeper. Actually if the airtime is all like the airtime on Viper @ SFGAm I'd be pleased. Just make absolutely sure everything works. No dead hills like that hill over Zeus on Hades (one of only two flaws on an otherwise flawless ride, the other being the turnaround:no backseat air). Avalanche is a near perfect ride. I've hear rumors of a huge airtime machine like ST on Screamscape or the world's longest coaster. I'm sure they won't build a piece of crap and they seems to want quality rides. The question is how will they stack up to Hades and Avalanche? I have ridden The Beast and it is a pretty good ride becasuse of the latterals despite the lack of air but when you put in hills and bunny hops they have to have forces. Moosh do you know something I don't? Do you actually know what kind of woodie HW is getting? How do you know they aren't getting a large Shivering Timbers type woodie? *** Edited 6/26/2005 1:14:57 AM UTC by Pink Floyd Fanatic*** *** Edited 6/26/2005 1:19:14 AM UTC by Pink Floyd Fanatic***

HW might be getting a large "Timbers"-like woodie. I hope they don't...I found Timbers to be fun but nothing special. I can see why some people like it but out of 100 wooden coasters ridden I rank it at #41.

Why design a ride like Timbers when you can do something original?

Why not combine the features of the best coasters? Airtime, length, speed and laterals, AND run it through the woods.

Why not just make it a fun re-rideable coaster if it is even going to be a coaster. We all know the clues are there...but the announcement has yet to verify that a coaster is indeed coming to HW.
Hades and Avalanches are reridable to me! :-) But not Zeus with it's bad jackhammering. I think that ride gave me whiplash and I astill feel some discomfort from it. But HW woodn't (pun intended) let any woodies they build goes to hell wood (again pun intended) they?

We have a pep rally here at UK every 2 years when our football team plays Indiana at home and it is called 'Hoosier Daddy'. On the off years we have the Gator Roast before Florida comes in and kicks our ass. Both are pretty fun, although I think last year Hoosier Daddy had to be moved inside because of rain. I'm not really sure. . .

38 pages of speculation...I'm gonna laugh my you-know-what off if HW's announcement is for additions to Splashin Safari, a new holiday for HW including some flats, and either no new coaster or something steel instead of wood.
I haven't bit on this 38 page thread (I've enjoyed reading it though) except once. I just can't get involved with this over-speculation right now. I've known for some time that Will wants another woodie. Several of my sources have told it would happen very soon. He seems to be like Nick up at the Dells in that regard. I guess what I'm saying is that when the details are announced in a few weeks....then I'll be on pins and needles!! ;)

Shoot...I'm still recovering from Hades as it is. Yee ha!! :)

Well thoses stacks of wood and steel beams sure looks like they are for a steel structured woodie so I'd be shock if they don't include a woodie larger than Legend for their 60th anniversary expecially with those pictures of wood, steel supports, L clips and those square metal plates on the Holiblog.

The wood, steel supports, and L-clips look like they could be for any number of things. Perhaps they're to support an innertube lift for a water slide or the walkway up to the top of the slide?
If anyone is interested I just put a few photos of some of Holiday World's 2006 construction over at Negative-G.

Thanks, Paul!
That last picture looks like its for a turnaround or curve for a woodie.

Thanks Paul, Those two paths going back into the woods are what I was talking about. And down by Bahari you can see some work going on back in the woods back there.

Thanks again for grabbing some pics

Chuck, who agrees, You just don't start building something small in June of the year prior.

From the looks of the work behind Bahari as seen from the Legend it looks to be the new access road to Bahari. Think about it this way if they build something across the Valley the ols access road will be cut off so they needed a new way to get back there.

I know we have discussed every holiday possible, except one, Father's Day. I suggest a new woodie called "Hoosier Daddy!" Just a thought.

That's funny because up here in South Bend, IN we have a car stereo place called Hoosier Daddy, it's hilarious when people drive around with stuff on their trucks advertising it.:)

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

For those still wondering if it is still possible for there to not be a new TGG woodie, I now have two "birdies" confirming it is a TGG woodie and the latest one assured me that enthusiasts will be VERY pleased with the announcement. That is in addition to all the hints and speculation which I think is enough for you to figure it out.
Face it Raven, all enthusiasts cannot be pleased. You could give some of them the world on a platter and they'd still complain that they think that they were shortchanged.

Personally, I can't wait to hear what HW is going to do. They've made all the right decisions up to this point, no reason to think they'd goof up now.
