The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

Wouldn't they have to move the picnic areas for the ride to get back to the new area. Also, will the ride be where the employee parking lot is now?

I have a difficult time believing that the flyers would have to be replaced to increase *snappability*....they're probably not capable of producing the snappage of PK...er, PCar's, or Knoebels', or even Fun Spot's, but if Will decided to give them a *boost*, you'd find them on par with the newer Larson models like IB's....(which no longer have a no-snaps policy from what I understand)...:)

P.S. I'm in favor of moving a ride....replacing means something is gone, and I'd miss anything that left HW...of course, if it's like the '05 *upgrade* (Roundhouse), then that becomes moot...;)

1. Not necessarilly, and 2. the clearing as of last week was next to the lot but not including it. But the location and possibilities would ALL depend on knowing exactly what the ride is and there is only one person on this forum who knows for sure. *** Edited 6/12/2005 6:14:58 AM UTC by Mr. Bubbles***

Oh, and Paula, you started working there when you were 16, right?

I'm guessing 14.....

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
Thanks, guys.

But considering I had two children by then ... and had been married for nine years, well....ewww!

Posting on a Sunday morning? What, did the earthquake we had out here wake you up, too?

Good grief, Matthew -- is everything okay?

I'm here giving park tours to two travel writers (at two different times).

In the rain.

Oh yeah, everything is OK. It wasn't strong enough to cause any major damage and centered about 150 miles away. I was awake and it felt like a gentle rocking motion. There were a few people crashed at my place [we celebrated my 40th last night] and no one else felt it.

Good luck with the tours...sorry about the weather.

My goodness Moosh just WHAT happened at that party to cause such a quake? ;-) Are the Tiki torches ok? I DO miss them. :-D

Clint, that same show was on PBS yesterday. I watched it with my mom. She said "So you been to this Holiday World place?" ;-)

Great show!

Was that the Quake from Kentucky Kingdom, Moosh?
john, it couldn't have been the Quake from Kentucky Kingdom. Two reasons: First, as you know, that Quake never does anything, and second, in the off-chance that it tries to do something, you'd have heard it!

Ya know I hear a lot about how Quake was closed to often but on the 7 visits I had to SFKK from 1999-2003 it was open and I rode it each visit.
Why couldn't we have had that fun little earthquake in March, when I was there?!? :(

Only mad cause moosh said everything was okay and nothing major happened. Would like to have survived my first quake.

I lived in California for 8 years and the largest quake I ever experienced.....................was in Ohio. A 5.3 earthquake hit northeastern Ohio in 1985 or '86 and was centered in the Chardon area.

So, while you might worry about snowstorms or tornados you can't rule out the big one!

I felt the 1985/1986 Ohio Earthquake as well. My town is a couple over from Chardon. The quake hit around 11:15 that Friday morning right when we were in Church (I went to catholic school, so we always had a mass on Fridays at 11:00am) so thats how i remember details. I just can't remember what grade I was in. Either the 5th or the 6th. I guess if i reasearch the year, I'll be able to remember better
Holiday World's expansion since 1999 is incredible. The Legend, Splashin' Safari's expansion, huge water rides, new land opening, and now 13.5 million dollar expansion next year. The park can't be making this much money from guest attendance alone?

A park chain with deep pockets will at times invest lots of capitol into one park, but even then there are limits. SFWoA hit Six Flags hard financially, became a kind of money pit they couldn't wait to get out of. So how does Holiday World do it?

Maybe it's the free soda that makes HH so successful. Lake Compounce is doing it now too. What a great trend, hopefully it will catch on. Is Holiday World's success an example of great customer service paying astronomical dividens? Lake Compounce is going to be so cool! *** Edited 6/13/2005 7:06:24 PM UTC by rc-madness***

I just have to say, as if you didn't already know, Paula, that the pressure is ON!

a quick quote from CoastaPlaya in another thread:

I'd almost prefer they[Cedar Point] didn't[build a wooden coaster]. What are they gonna do? Build a Hades? An Avalanche? A Boulder Dash? A HW '06? Something with half as much originality? I think not.

But it would be nice.

If HW can match Avalanche, I will be VERY happy. However, as much as I would like that, I don't expect it and will forgive another Hades. ;)
Come to think of it, I am pretty sure the Ohio earthquake was in '86 because it happened around the time the Challenger blew up. It was a very bizarre month or two.

Was that one of the ice cap "rebound" quakes? If so, perhaps Magnum is rising. ;)

Although I'd better be careful in this room full of coaster geeks...someone's liable to point out that Maggie wasn't built yet. ;)
