The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

I also thought that comment was a clue to a new Easter holiday section. Then I thought about it and I am not that sure that the expansion will be a new area. We might see something like sfne did. Holiday World could possibly add a major coaster to their theme park, and possibly a water coaster to their water park. Just a thought.

One ride will either be moved or replaced. Either way, its current spot will be used for something else. I don't believe the decision has been made yet whether the ride will simply move or whether a newer version of the same ride will go in the new location.

Paula (and no, I won't reveal which ride :))

A new Ten Tub Flyers? Buy Lesourdsville Lakes if he's willing to sell.

Thats the only ride I can think of in a possition to be indangered by this move.

Chuck, Who enjoyed burrying his flyer tub in the tree near the restrooms :)

Can I place early bets on the Spider or Tilt-A-Whirl?
Thanks for yet another clue Paula! BTW I saw the special on WNIN last night- it was really interesting, though a bit dated. They were showing The Steel Phantom, Legend wasn't built yet, and the late Will Koch was interviewed right next to Pat. Not a complaint though, it was fascinating just to remember how far the park has come in just 5 or 6 years. So really, I guess my point is that all of you who missed it did not miss any clues for the 06 expansion. hehe
By spider do you mean Paul Revere's midnight ride? I can't imagine this ride being in the way for a new expansion because it's near the edge of the park by the highway; the side of the park that has no room for expansion. The virginia Reel could be the target though. So could the Eagles.
Tough call on which ride could be in the way of a major expantion. All Flat rides are pretty well "land locked". Eagle's Flight would be my best bet. Station could be here, track shoot out between Holidog Fun Town and Picnic area with bulk of ride behind Fun Town.
Tilt-a-Whirl location for the station would have to go over White Water and into the emp. parking lot. Scrambler could go and maybe fit a dark ride or something like Italian Job in the area where Scrambler is now down towards Halloswings. However, it you are going to do this, the area where the Antique cars are located would be a better option. Scrambler could also go for a station for a coaster that would fit in the area between Raven and Legend. (This would be great. New coaster could cross over/under both of the coasters that are already there!)
Or for a long shot, PR Midnight Rider could go for a station for a coaster that goes under the highway with the coaster itself next to the parking lot.

Have not been to the park yet this year. Where is the land being cleared?? This could be a hint as to what has to be moved. *** Edited 6/10/2005 9:05:50 PM UTC by Kraven the Raven*** *** Edited 6/11/2005 12:28:02 PM UTC by Kraven the Raven***

Life is an amusment park -and I can't get off of the damn spinning teacups!
The area being cleared is pretty large- I was surprised. It starts as a large rectangular area to the east of the water park by the employee parking lot and a narrow clearing extends from it leading all the way towards the woods near the new wave pool where the snowy white road enters. If you're going to think big, it could all be for a large coaster with the station in 4th of July(Eagles move/removal). But the problem with this theory is that it cuts off the area needed for the 2x expansion of Splashin Safari.

I doubt the Scrambler will ever be affected much because anything of a large size going in there would block the most beautiful view of the park. :)

Sorry for the uber-frequent posting.. but I forgot to ask you[Paula] a question about the program on PBS last night:

There was a younger woman with pulled back, medium length, brown hair giving a few brief statements about the park.. was it you? It makes sense to have the PR director speak, but the program was at least 5 or 6 years old, and I don't know how long you've held this position @ Holiday World. Just curious.

How about Liberty Launch? If that is the ride that would be moved to a new location why not replace it with this?:

http://www.maurer-soehne.de/en/Amusement/Xtended_Rides/Power_Tower/Power_Tower.htm

The fully equipped version with 32 tilting seats and the earthquake mode is the only way to go. This could almost be a better drop ride than Tower of Terror at Walt Disney World!! We need one of these in the USA really badly!! But if the lines for LL hasn't been too bad this ride can wait until the lines get really long for LL than it will need a replacement with a higher capacity like the Xtended Power Tower! :-)

Paula will the ride that is getting moved or removed be revealed when the 2006 announcement will be made? *** Edited 6/10/2005 10:39:34 PM UTC by Pink Floyd Fanatic***

Bubbles-

I agree that it is doubtful that anything big will ever go into the area where the scrambler is. This is a great view of the park, but it is a lot of "green" space. I would love to see a "classic" ride go in this area. Fits well with the parks feel and history. Do it right and it could add to the view. A well groomed area with paths, benches, and shade trees would be a nice addition to the park as well.

I like your theory on a big coaster starting in 4th section with an Eagles move. This would cut off the area needed for SS 2x expanstion. However if it is planned right, with the track elevation right, you could run a coaster (esp. a steel) right thru the middle of the water park without much disruption.

That is what I was thinking too! Look at Magnum. Don't you have to go under it to get to the water park @ CP?

I was so happy when I was browsing around Big Lots with mom one day and came across "Great Old Amusement Parks" on VHS for only $1. I had heard it was such a good show, and I was thankful that I had (only) a dollar with me. Thankfully mom had the $.06 for sales tax ;).

I gotta get to more of those parks soon. It is so weird seeing CP without Millie and TTD and WT, as well as Kennywood without Phantom's Revenge and Holiday world without Legend and...

;)

You gonna visit Oaks later on this year, around CAC time? Sadly, Whalom is gone now...

Happily, HW is still around...:)

bill, saw that show only recently...yay for PBS!

No CAC for me this year, Bill :(. What sux about Whalom is that my sister lived 5 miles from the park, we went to the lake right there where it was, saw the park open...but my sister just had a C-Section and we couldn't go in because my parents wouldn't let me go alone at that age, and my sister and her husband didn't feel like walking, esp. since they went all the time.

They so suck for making me miss out on my one chance at Whalom. I wanted to get back there for years, esp. on a SFNE trip. Now all hope is lost :(.

Oh, and Paula, you started working there when you were 16, right?;)

From that statement Paula, I'll bet that your Flyers will be the ones moved or replaced since it's in that general area of interest.
Personally, if you can't get a 1940's Bisch-Rocco 10 tub, then just keep the ones you have now.. the newLarson ones are pretty bad IMO. Plus... who would ever WANT a Larson Product?

One attraction I thought would get the axe would be The Wave, (or at least be changed around) since we have the new pool this year

Will there be new catering facilities built as well?

I wouldn't mind the Flyers being replaced with some snappable ones.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

You're all assuming by "ride" Paula meant something in Holiday World. Perhaps she means one of the slides/slide complexes in the waterpark?
