As for a "jet air planes" ride, I have no idea what you're talking about.

The jet air planes ride that was by Blue Streak for a decade or more. You know, you get in the plane, it rotates, and you have controls to move the plane up or down? Not sure how you could not know this ride if you know the park like the back of your hand.

That and the pirate ride were both removed when Raptor went in.

"That and the pirate ride were both removed when Raptor went in."

Wrong! Read the whole thread. The Satellite Jets ride was removed eight seasons before Raptor. Pirate Ride remained in operation two seasons after Raptor.

"Not sure how you could not know this ride if you know the park like the back of your hand."

Cedar Point history is obviously something you know little about, so I wouldn't criticize others who show a knowledge of history superior to yours. It's hard for you to make an argument when you are so far removed from any valid fact.

The Satellite Jets were similar to the jet ride at Disneyland in the Tomorrowland section, only you entered at ground level, not by elevator.
When Raptor was added, the only ride removed was the Mill Race. The Midway Carousel was moved to its current location, and the Calypso was moved to its current location, which happens to be very close to the last home of the Satelite Jets which were removed for no readily apparent reason. Kind of like the Trabant which was also removed (1991) for no apparent reason.

I miss the Satellite Jets. That was a classic....

Touchy aren't we.....knowing the park like the back of one's hand sure makes experts out of all of us, doesn't it? Being an engineer (of whatever, it doesn't matter for arguement's sake), does it make sound financial sense to keep ALL flat rides (Kid Arthur's Court included) from 1975 and continue to pile them up on each side of the midways? Even if they aren't popular anymore? Even if the Peep count on the turnstyle says 150 people per day? We used Bayern Kurve as an example before, yes it's my favorite, but I could jump on whenever I wanted to, which is great, but if it's not popular with the GP, why keep it around?

If the answer is yes, then why? Does CP want to look like a village festival at 5pm with these unused rides? I mean the only coaster they have taken out in the last 30 years is the Jumbo Jet (the just bought a 'newer' Wildcat). Were they in NEED for space then, of course not, the thing just didn't work well under adverse conditions. Then, why is moving or removing a ride such a major concern with you? Overall, and once again, it's capital improvement. Perfecting their #1 investment, but some people want it left alone, unchanged, looking like a rag tag carny endeavor.

With management fine tuning their park year in and out, I enjoy seeing the improvements every season. Although, I know I'll enjoy my visit to Indiana Beach (and others) next week, I bet I'll be saying, "boy, it sure is cluttered." Where SPACE, the final frontier, IS a problem.

Well, it is annoying reading posts from someone who uses fabrication to prove a point that is untrue. If someone doesn't know, for example, when a certain ride was removed, that's fine. But to insist something is the truth when it certainly is not is something different.

The aquarium was no longer in use (other than as a video arcade) and had declining visitation after the dolphins died.

The dolphins died? Why?

rcdb has posted all Cedar Points demolished coasters. they have only demolished 5 in there 132 years of operation. pretty damn good if you ask me.

It was only a fantasy, the wall was too high, as you can see, no matter how he tried he could not break free, and the worms ate into his brain.- Pink Floyd "Hey You"

Actually, I think 2 of the 4 dolphins died (might have been 3) and the other(s) was shipped to a dolphin facility in the Florida Keys.

Those that died did so from some type of respiratory disease.

Since I was a kid, my favorite thing about Cedar Point is watching what they will build next...how they expand...however, I think it's very important to keep the things that are recognizable as a part Cedar Point's character whenever possible. Kiddy Kingdom for example, where I can take the second generation of our family, and watch them ride the rides we rode when we were kids. They are classic kiddie rides in there. Or, that whole games area from the 60's right there at the front. How about Cedar Downs, or the Trains? The Big Wheel was gratefully moved instead of being dismantled. Frontier Trail hardly saw any changes even with the Millennium Force being built along side of it. Some things just become dead space over time, and it would be useless to keep. Rides need to be draws, or they become money vaccumes to operate and maintain I would guess. That's a negative. I think they do a great job with their additions and removals. Looking forward to many more years of the same!

Jeff,

When Raptor was added, one set of Turnpike Cars was removed, as there was 2 tracks at one point.

Gemini, explain. Since, my post wasn't directed at you in the least. I took that off the post above yours.

I apologize. It appeared to me that you were criticizing me for my post correcting Spryboy for a second time. Sometimes on threads like this it gets confusing who's talking to who.
