Six Flags Magic Mountain to reclaim coaster crown in 2010

I'd rather find a park with good operations and faded paint on the rides than vice-versa.

^ Yeah, let's make that visit first Moosh, then see if you feel the same way you did the last time you visited the park.

Moosh beat me to it. I was going to say, how many of those newly painted rides will be open if/when I ever visited the park?

I know, I know, they've changed for the better. They understand how to run a park better. Whatever. Maybe someday I will give the chain another shot at not having me waste my time and money.

Part of the reason for not having gotten to the park is that my partner doesn't ride anymore (due to medical problems) and all of my good coaster buddies have moved out of state. I'll try to hit up the park something in the new year.

This is why you need to host Mooshmeet..... ;)

There's a Six Flags park on the East coast that I feel strangely similar about. I keep hearing about how its operations have improved, but I still haven't set foot in the place in over 6 years.

^ What is Great Adventure Alex?

Mooshmeet already happens every year. You're probably familiar with it's more popular name: Holiwood Nights :)

No, I actually don't mind Great Adventure. I was referring to SFA.

^ Six Flags America? The armpit of the chain?

If SFA really is the worst Six Flags park, then that's really impressive. I found very few problems with it during my one visit this summer. First off, It has the cheapest prices of any SF park. I could buy the Season pass there for half the price i could at SFGADV. The longest wait I believe was somewhere along 30 minutes. i saw no issues with park staff, all the rides were open and SROS was the only ride that had problems that I saw. It closed down for a whopping ten minutes. But yes, some of those rides could be repainted, but if lack of paint is seriously going to prevent you from going to a park, you have some issues.

The real bottom of that chain closed a while ago. The only day I have ever spent at an amusement park that I wished I would have spent elsewhere. SFAW, what a dump, it was also hot and the main ride that attracted me to that park (Taz's Texas Tornado) was closed. Not to mention, the park had a hard close and did not have signs up telling you they do that.

I thought for sure that the next thing you were going to say was "SFWoA".

My vacation plans for next summer appear to be taking us to California. I thought we would spend a day at SFMM. But from what I am seeing here, maybe I should be going to Knotts instead? Never been to either park.

It was Batwing Fan SFA, for the record.

^^ Believe it or not, in recent years, Knott's and Magic Mountain have completely swapped places in terms of high regard among locals. Knott's has had a severe decline in atmosphere, employee morale, and upkeep --- while the opposite is true of Magic Mountain.

I seriously must have visited SFWoA on three of it good days, I had friendly employees, low lines, good service and it was pretty clean. SFWoA was right up with SFFT, SFoT, and SFoG as the best in the chain in my book.

I must admit though that its hard for me to ever talk negative about an amusement park trips. There is a reason that i'm on coasterbuzz.com. It's because I love roller coasters and parks. So why wouldn't I be happy at parks? There is no such thing as a bad park to me. Some are just better than others. For example when I was at SFGADV in 05 and there were 2.5 hour waits for Nitro. I was very mad, but i would still rather be there over any day at college.
