SFGAM 2003 Construction Photo's

just drove by the park earlier today(12/24) and there is a lot up now. The station seems to pretty much be done and they have a ton of supports up! it looks so awsome...

BMCoaster, did you just drive up to that light, park, get out, and take the pics or did you have to park elsewhere and walk to the gates? just curious since I might take a trip up there sometime soon.

Do any of you know how to build a sundial out of a pen and a donut?
uh oh, sounds like someone has a case of the mondays.

Bob - just drive in the main entrance all the way down to the gates and take pictures. That's what I did. If your feeling daring you could even enter the parking lot. Since there are neighboring houses that use the main entrance to get to their houses you won't get hassled.

I think everyone is right about SFGAm being ahead because I was at SFGAdv last weekend and it looks like SFGAm has more up and if I'm wrong they're both about even as far as construction goes.

VOSM=Victim Of Scream Machine (in the olden days)

Based on the supports in place that I saw today (12/25), it appears to be a gradual increase in height so my guess is that its for the lift hill.

I must say that its a whole 'lot' of blue and red standing tall. :)

Who is ready to take flight in Gurnee come May? :)

2 superheroes in Gurnee next season? Oh the humanity. :)

Does any one have any new photos of the recent construction?

I won't be able to get back there during daylight until probably Saturday. So an update will be coming over the weekend.
Ok, I've been looking at that one support, the one that says the west side support, and then looked at all of the SUF pics and construction pics and I cannot find one support that looks like that. Maybe this is wishful thinking, but maybe we might get a semi-customed designed coaster! Probably not, but you do have to wonder...

Gamfan, I did the same thing about the support and I agree with you it does'nt relly fit SUF.So, I guess we can hope for maybe a little different layout.Oh yeah I found new pics which I did'nt take. http://thrillnetwork.com/gallery/Dec22

Well - Here's a brief update. 12/27/02 - I drove into the park entrance and noticed alot has gone on. I can confirm that brake run track / station track is up. Many more supports have been placed and it looks like the lift hill supports may all be up. It also looks like some regular track (non brake or station track may be up as well. The dirt pile has grown massive as well. Looks like a total gut of the area is happening which is great news. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow morning.

Later

Any pics yet?
I was just looking at the pictures that thecoastermaster has posted and it once again has me wondering if our coaster might be different. Look at this pic and look at where the approx. location of the station and lift hill are at. Then look where that one support is at. It is way off to the left of the station, after looking at SUF, there is nothing to the left of the station. Has to make you wonder...

I cannot wait until this coaster comes out! looks very cool, by the way, the guesses that you took seem pretty acurate to me!

Wow thats alot of free space they have now, it would be cool if they moved Batman over by superman and add a few flats and shops and make it a superhero themed area, they could rip out ShockWaves queue house and have that be a path way to the new territory. Then where Batmans spot was they could get a nice water themed coaster and bring back some of the Yankee Harbor theming! Maybe even reinstall the Yankee light house. Boy I really do like day dreaming alot ;-)

Sounds like a great idea SFGAMNUT

I'd rather have them leave Batman where it is as the vegetation has really grown up around it to make it unique compared to the clones. If they moved it, it would be just like the others.

I should be up by Gurnee towmorrow and if I get a chance will take some pictures with my digital camera.

They would never move Batman. Makes no sense. No sense at all. They could just make a new area focusing on Superman though that would be nice.
UPDATE!!!!! - I have updated the link with about 15 more photos showing the Brake Run and more supports. Plus that solo support looks way out as if to indicate a future expansion of the park. Check them out. It was hazy yesterday afternoon, which takes away all the color out of the photos.
Uhh...could you give us the link?
