SFGAM 2003 Construction Photo's

All, this morning I took some photos of all the hustle and bustle over at SFGAM and the new flyer construction. The lift hill is being constructed on the East side of the site. (Where the Block brake and double loop of Shockwave was). The large support is standing alone is on the opposite end of the construction site away from the lift hill construction. Another thing, Alot of earth has been moved as can be seen from the large pile of dirt. Make of it as you will. I was lucky enough to catch what looks to be the largest lift hill support being put into place. I was able to count about 8 or so supports already up. NO TRACK yet. There are still a few pieces of Shockwave on site.

Actually I was there yesterday and it did appear that there was track up in the station/brakes area!

Sorry I guess I missed that. I haven't really looked at the photos that well but when I did just look at them I did see a faint hint of red in there.

I guess the good news about the location of the ride is that they are leaving a large area open for park expansion to the ride, maybe even a few flats.

thanks for the photos. its nice to see someone knows how to use a zoom lens.

It's gonna be awesome to have a flyer only 400 some-odd miles away...which for me ain't half bad.

The CPlaya 100--6 days, 9 parks, 47 coasters, 2037 miles and a winner.....LoCoSuMo.

The real question is.... did they at least jackhammer up the parking lot underneath this time?

Shaggy

Shaggy I have no idea as to where all that dirt came from except that it came from the former Shockwave location. I saw Front Loaders dumping dirt on those piles so we can only hope.
Hey BMCOASTER, thanks for the pics!

Yes, I agree, it IS nice to see someone who knows how to use a zoom lens! ;)

Very exciting stuff, though you do have to admit it is odd to "not" see Shockwave looming over the parking lot there. Awfully strange to clearly see most of Condor from the lot like that.

Interesting "edit" of the Shockwave picture as well.....if your guesstimate is right, it WILL be interesting to see whether they "open" up that side of the park or have another odd entrance (like they had on SW).

Thanks again, the pics are appreciated!

HELL YA!

:) I can't wait

Great!!! I'm happy to see some work being down there.

Cool pics to bad that we cant get compleatly up close to the ride. But anyway great pictures.

Just an idle thought crossed my mind while looking at these pics... The Condor is going to be an excellent place to take pictures of this new beast next year :)

"Sorry folks, park's closed. The moose out front should've told you."

That's if you manage to get a good picture while twirling up in the air.

Is that the drive-in entrance to Great America's parking lot/grounds?

Yes, thats the entrance off of Grand Ave.

2 superheroes in Gurnee next season? Oh the humanity. :)

Cobraroller, I even managed to get a lot of good shots of Shockwave from Condor. BTW, the pictures are good and keep them coming! :)

Two friends, extremely in love with the same girl. She hates them both, but likes a third friend. (You think I'm advertising a reality show? That's my life!)

You can't really tell if its track or not. Could possibly be construction equipment...
