Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 screen shots posted by Infogrames

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 publisher Infogrames today posted shots of the forthcoming game in conjunction with the E3 show, going on now in Los Angeles. The shots include Intamin box track, Arrow 4D, Giovanola hypers, new theme elements and scenario editing.

See the screen shots from Infogrames.

No way, the other four parks have to be Elitch Gardens, Kentucky Kingdom, Astroworld, and Frontier City!
To those complaining about the graphics: Take a look at most of the strategy games out there. Sometimes simple is better. If you want 3-D, Ultimate Ride, No Limits, and others will do that. The old graphics worked, and were an extreme success. All of this could not have been done with an expansion pack, and Sawyer said this himself.

I was just going to say... quantum leaps in strategy sims are few and far between, especially with graphics, seeing as how there's only so much you can do to an isometric view. There are generally tweaks to the engine and some changes in game play, and this looks like it will have exactly that. As was mentioned in the earlier interview with Sawyer, we won't have to remove one tree at a time, and we won't need trainers or any of that nonsense since we can create our own scenarios! We've also got banked rise/drop turns, something we've all been dying for.

I look forward to more specifics about the tweaks.

Have you taken a look at Sim City 4?? That game looks absolutely amazing!! It's a quantum leap in the quality of graphics from both Sim City 2000 and 3000. There's also a lot going on in there, with a lot of artifical intelligence. It has a lot of special effects, and is a pure sim game.

You wanna know what? That also uses an isometric point of view... so simple isn't always better. I sure hope the peeps all aren't just variations of the same guy.

I also hope that sound has improved greatly, otherwise it will indeed be just like an expansion pack!

....Summer is only a short 91 days long. How much of that time are you going to use at the amusement parks??

Whats wrong with this being like an expasion pack. The graphics are good because they are unique. I think the graphics are find because the game runs well on most computers unlike some of the new games.

This is just awsome!

Is the new game going to have some sort of blocking system. If you look at the one wuth the snow there is a mid course brake looking thing. Chris Sawyer normally never puts in brakes unless its the end of the ride. I hope there is a blocking system
If it ain't one thing, it's another. Stop complaining! We could being getting nothing, no new coaster, flats, etc. Sawyer could have decided to not make a sequel. So far, I have found nothing to complain about, and I am looking forward to its release.

Will it have a TERA? I want a TERA! If it doesn't have a TERA I'm not going to PKI [oh wait...that was another thread...never mind].

Yer right, Jeff...some people just have to have something to complain about. The improvements look good to me so far and I'm sure they're saving some of the better stuff for later. Looks like I'll be up late playing with this one.

WOWEEEEEEE!!!!!! I'm so excited!! I love the Intamin track and the 4D. The 4D looks strange though. Maybe because it is supposed to a recreation of X. The only thing that I really wanted that I haven't seen yet is different angles to build at and actual working break runs. Like mid-course breaks and the holding breaks before the station. I know that they now have double stations but I think the other ones give the game a realistic look, which I like. I'm so amazed though. Oh yea, where did somebody see the Wacky Soap Box Racers. I can't find them.

it has an elavator lift hill on the red intamin hyper woow i am so ecited i cont tape@!
I am very pleased!! Looks so awsome!! Yes, there is new stuff that we have asked for. and I am sure that will be even more stuff to come. This game is mine when it comes out!! I wish It was coming out sooner.

I might be seeing things, but it looks like the last car of Viper (in the first picture of X) has the wheel carriage that extends out from the last car of Arrow looper trains... I really wish I knew the name for that thing.

If that's what I think it is, that's attention to detail...

We saw and played the game at E3 today. According to Infogrames, they've done
a deal with Six Flags and will have a few SF parks represented. They didn't
say which ones, but the demo had SFMM up and running including X and Deja Vu
with proper track and trains, I also noticed new options for wood coaster
blocking systems, Sky Tower, Premiere LIM launched coasters, VERY themed signs
(Goliath rock sign was there), etc. It was only a one level demo, and there
seemed to be a lot of improvements to the interface. If we go back to E3 more
this week, we'll look at a few more details of it.

On another note, Disney was showing off it's new updated Disney's Coaster. It
looked nice, but the amusement park creation part of RCT has always been my
thing over the POV games like No Limits and Coaster.

Overall, while RCT2 looks a lot like what we've been familar with over the
years, it just looks a LOT more robust. I'm glad Chris isn't trying to
re-invent the wheel and is sticking to what he knows works.

Those of you who want to create and ride will probably end up with Coaster! =)

yay Premeir LIM Launched coasters!
I am drooling over this game. It looks awesome! I loved the graphics in RCT and these graphics are similar. Look at Diablo and Diablo 2, they were put out years apart, yet they are almost the same game (graphic and enigne wise). I think the public will buy it for several reasons. 1.) Six Flags is involved in it. While us enthuists will be rushing out to buy it. The general public will be like "oh Six Flags hey I like that place. I rode a cool coaster, lets see if I can do it better." 2.) It's been a while since an expansion pack came out therefore the effect of the game is dying down. You see a nice shiny package saying "RCT 2!" then we remember all the fun we had and pick it up. 3.) If people are still buying "The Sims" expansions. Then this game will sell. I have no problem with The Sims except it gets boring. I figured I could live a more exciting life on the computer, but I couldn't. I ended up sleeping all the time. Just like in real life =).

Olsor! I saw that too! I was like...hey isn't that the final wheel carriage thing that most Arrows and other coaster trains have that trail off at the tail of the train? Maybe it is! One thing HE BETTER change is make the steel roller coaster (schwartzkopf track) look like as if the trains are actually connected to the track...
