Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 begins to appear in stores

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, the sequel to one of the biggest selling PC games ever, has started to appear on store shelves in the Greater Cleveland area a week before its scheduled release. Target stores appear to have a few copies, and EB stores say they expect it this week.

You can order Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 from Amazon.

:( I had it in my hands. I went to the local Walmart here in Paducah, KY, and they had it. The only problem was that there was a no sale on it for some reason and nobody can buy it yet. Im depressed now.

The Target in Rochester, NY (Henrietta) did not have it. :( They had a coming soon sign with RCT2 (Oct 15) listed and that was it. Checked Best Buy too, but no luck.

Got LOTS of copies at the Target in Cary, NC. The Walnut Street Store... HURRY! I got mine! :)
No luck finding any copies in Minnesota. Just came back from Mall of America nothing there yet. Guess I can wait till Tuesday ;). If anyone knows what stores in Mn may have it please let me know.

My target did not have it but I asked the flow (overnight stocking crew) if they would set me one aside if they came in before the 15th. I'm heading over there today to check again. *crosses fingers*

Just got it from the Target in Woburn, MA. The one at the I-95/I-93 interchange. They didn't have any yesterday, but they were on the shelf today. There were 4 left as of 2 pm.
Got mine at Target in Springdale,OH too. They must've restocked it, because there were 3 copies still there when I left.

It may be a glorified super expansion pack, but what a glorified super expansion pack it is! I was just amazed with the hour I spent with it thus far. Everything from the advanced braking system to the super-fast working cable lift system for the Intamins is here.

Peeps were even walking in the right direction on huge paths for a change...fun stuff!

Chris

PS: Oh yeah...those Roller Coaster Tycoon Pinball machines that they're giving away via a contest in the box? One's mine. :) (No, seriously. Stop laughing.) *** This post was edited by Chris Rettig on 10/9/2002. ***

Chris: I agree with you about the block braking systems and the Intamin cable lift--how realistic! However, I am disappointed with the Six Flags coaster recreations. I've seen/built much better. There are some other things to be desired (IMO)... like more flat rides (wish there was a Top Scan, Afterburner, etc...). Also, the Intamin Impulse doesn't have a holding brake... and Deja Vu doesn't have a catch on the second tower. Oh well, at least there are lots of other cool things... even the trademark B&M roar. :)

For those of you in Kansas City...the Target in Liberty and by Metro North Mall have pulled it from the shelves, Circuit City by Metro doesn't have it....however the KMART on 72nd street had three...but now only 2! :) Gotta love a store that is happy to sell anything it can!

Waiting for the CP announcement to be made so that about 1000+ posts will be made complaining about it.

I just called my Best Buy and they said they were expecting it some time this week! Yippeee! :) :) :) :) :)

You see things and you say "Why?"
But I dream things that never were, and I say "Why Not?"

For all of you lucky people, Is there a Huss Frisbee in the game? I hope I will find out by the end of the night with luck that I find it!

I just picked it up at the Kmart in Solon, Ohio, and I am installing it as I type.

Marietta, GA Target on Barrett Pkwy is where I got mine. There were a few copies hidden with the RCT Gold and Original Editions.

What was really funny was at checkout: When the cashier scanned it, it asked him to enter a birthdate (like I was buying alcohol). So he asked me for ID on a Rated-E computer game! I showed him my ID (1984) and he initially wouldn't let me buy it because I was not old enough! When a supervisor walked by, she just said to skip that and I was able to buy it. Weird...

KRaXLridAh, I live in the southwestern Riverside County so I only know that it'll be out on Friday here. But I think it's safe to say that all the Staples will have it by Sunday, on sale, sold out by Monday.

Get me out of this air-conditioned nightmare!

No copies for sell in Portland :(. I'll have to wait till next week.

84 coasters and counting

I got the game last night at Target here in oklahoma city!!!! YES IT DOES HAVE A B&M FLYER COASTER!!!!! but, you still cant make a true pretzel loop. you still have to do the little s-bend at the bottom. But The secenario editor is pretty easy to run. But, everything seems to load slower than the original RCT.

Hey everyone, ill reply around 9 central time tonight with all the new rides and stuff.

There is sadly....no Frisbee included.

I have to admit that my first building project ended in failure and sent many peeps a flyin!

My Giga was 9500 ft long w/6 blocks. I forgot to slope the track preceeding the blocks which prevented the trains from moving once the block was clear.. There was enough inertia to get it back to the station, but most of the blocks were after steep hills with too short a straight away on top. (Had I ran 3 trains instead of 6, it would have been cool...but I got greedy) Even after their friends were tossed...they still rode it, gotta love that!
